Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 37
Meng Loudi watched the two leave and led his human inside. Bai Lu had handed him a series of documents and a magnetic card. It was said that the card was used to open the door. It felt quite high-tech and sophisticated.
The two of them opened the door. The interior was simple and elegant. Jiang kicked off his shoes and bounced around the villa, like a curious little hedgehog, lifting his head and exploring every corner. Mr. Ghost watched the young man, a smile playing on his lips. This space, just for the two of them, filled him with an unparalleled sense of peace.
“Do you like it here? If not, we can change it,” Mr. Ghost said, having come to understand the power he now wielded. After all, he was someone who had navigated the political scene and was naturally adept at using his authority.
Hearing this, Jiang’s eyes sparkled as he looked at the man, and with a playful growl, he leaped forward. Meng Loudi stood his ground, catching him steadily and lifting him up with ease. The young man wrapped his legs around Mr. Ghost’s waist, his face alight with pure joy as he looked down at Meng Loudi. “I really like it here~ Thank you for meeting Mr. Meng. If it weren’t for you, how could I possibly live in such a nice house~”
His lips curled into a rare, flirtatious smile. “So, is Mr. Meng planning to keep a beauty in a golden house?”
Caught off guard by the question, Mr. Ghost blinked, looking up at his treasure, and seriously considered his lover’s words. As the chief, he should be able to support his beloved, right? If he couldn’t even do that, why bother being this ghostly chief?
In Meng Loudi’s mind, there was an equation: “Being the chief” equals “Providing a better life for Chenyi.” If he could indeed keep a beauty in a golden house, that would be wonderful. The thought was so exciting it momentarily clouded his judgment.
With a goofy grin, he looked like a big, happy wolf wagging its tail. “I want to!”
Jiang pressed a hand to Mr. Ghost’s face, his expression sharp. “Say that again!”
This guy was always teetering on the edge of being a creep.
“…I don’t want to.”
Meng Loudi didn’t want to upset his lover, but his face still showed a hint of disappointment, like a dog that didn’t get its bone. So pitiful.
Hearing the other’s pitiful words, Jiang laughed, arching his body to plant a kiss on his lover’s forehead. “Well, Loudi, you can keep a beauty in a golden house, but just for a little while.”
Given a stick and then a sweet date, Meng Loudi chuckled helplessly. “You’re really a handful, Chenyi. I want to hide you away.”
Mr. Ghost’s words were filled with tenderness and helplessness.
“Hmm, I guess I do have a way with men,” Jiang said with a smile.
Meng Loudi nodded helplessly. “You do.”
The two explored the villa, placing their belongings where they belonged. This small villa was quite nice. The layout was suitable. The first floor had a lobby, a restroom, a bathroom, an open kitchen and dining area, two bedrooms, and a study. The second floor had two bedrooms, two restrooms, a bathroom, a study, an entertainment room, and a small balcony. The third floor was a narrow attic, spacious with two small windows, but seemingly useless.
They unpacked their suitcases, personal items filling the space. The once cold and empty rooms quickly came to life. Jiang placed his parents’ memorial tablets in a room on the first floor. They stayed in the master bedroom on the second floor. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
In the middle of the night, darkness enveloped everything. A rustling sound came from the bushes. Something slithered out, winding its way up the stairs, reaching the door, and tried to push it open, only to find it couldn’t enter. It swayed its body, turning to another side. Finding a window, it suddenly opened, and it slithered inside. Its long body squeezed through the window, climbing upstairs, winding its way to the master bedroom. It slowly opened the door and slipped inside. No one seemed to be awakened by its arrival. The intruder was cautious, inching toward the bed, its scales making a faint sound as they rubbed together. It was close to the bed now, excitedly flicking its tongue, slowly rising up to look at the two people on the bed, opening its blood-red mouth. Sharp fangs glistened with purple liquid, a touch of which could cost half a life.
Then, the ghost holding Jiang opened his eyes. Those black eyes flashed with red. A chilling voice echoed, “Do you want to die?”
A cold aura exploded. The massive snake, as thick as a person’s waist, froze. Then the lights suddenly turned on. Laughter erupted. “Hahaha, I knew it! How could you not react when something crawled to the bedside!”
The clear voice of a young boy was pleasant, but in the dead of night, it was quite disturbing. At least, Jiang, who had been sound asleep, was woken up. He mumbled a couple of times, opening his eyes, still dazed and sleepy. “Mm, Loudi? What’s wrong?”
Meng Loudi held him, gently patting his back. “It’s nothing, nothing. Go back to sleep.”
The loud, clueless kid kept laughing. “I told you the fourth was useless! Let me, let me, we’ll definitely test the eighth’s depth!”
Well, now he was fully awake. Jiang, who had been leaning against Mr. Ghost, turned his head to look, only to see the monstrous purple snake. “…”
The young man turned his head back, expressionless. Jiang was a bit scared. Meng Loudi felt it, the person in his arms starting to tremble. The man’s expression turned dark in an instant. Mr. Ghost sat up, tucking the human in, covering him with the blanket, then looked at the seven unwelcome guests.
They must be the seven chiefs. The ghost’s handsome face was covered with a layer of frost, and Jiang curled up under the blanket, not daring to move. Meng Loudi’s hand gently patted the blanket, silently comforting his lover.
The loud boy continued to shout, “The fourth is just too useless! Let me, let me, let’s do it again!”
He wore a pitch-black outfit, the dark fabric wrapping around his body, outlining a slender figure. His black hair and eyes shone brightly, his curly black hair rebelliously sticking up. His entire black ensemble made his skin look white as snow, adorned with shiny accessories, a string of jingling bracelets on his wrist, looking about fifteen or sixteen.
The purple snake also transformed. It was a long-haired girl with purple hair and green eyes, her almond-shaped eyes filled with panic. Her hair was styled into an intricate bun, wearing a purple ancient-style long dress, her appearance gentle and pure, a classic beauty. She stood there, somewhat uneasy, softly apologizing, “Um, sorry, but I had to do this. I’m really sorry if I scared you.”
The girl’s voice was soft and gentle, seemingly harmless. It was hard to associate her with the ferocious giant snake. Leading them was a young man with white hair and eyes, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, dressed in a neat suit, exuding an air of a refined scoundrel. He looked at Meng Loudi, smiling, “Hello, I’m Qing Hua, the first chief of the Alliance of Supernatural Beings, the heir of Bai Ze1.”
Beside him stood a red-haired man with fiery red ears, a fluffy tail swaying behind him, wearing a flamboyant red knee-length robe. The robe was oddly styled, with wide sleeves and hem, patched together, revealing long, straight legs. This person smiled seductively, “I’m Hu Linzhi, the fox spirit, the second chief of the supernatural beings, with nine hundred years of cultivation.”
Squatting on the ground, trying to fade into the background, was a pure white little boy. He looked at Meng Loudi, speaking softly, “I’m the third chief, You Ling, the mushroom spirit. Hello, goodbye.”
The little boy wore simple white shorts and a shirt, his eyes and mouth pure white, lips a faint pink, with a cute mushroom haircut. After speaking, he lowered his head, pretending he had disappeared. An introverted child?
The long snake turned into a smiling girl, “I’m the fourth, the snake demon, called Ajiao.”
The loud boy touched his nose, a bit proud, “I’m the fifth, Dong Feixi, the crow spirit! My mouth, if I say something bad, it will definitely come true.”
Meng Loudi twitched his lips, “I can see that.”
Standing to the side, a melancholy-looking woman raised a gentle smile. Though not short, her presence seemed even lower than the mushroom spirit. She spoke softly, “I’m Hua Se, the tiger spirit. Ranked sixth.”
The last one, leaning against the crow spirit, was a young man in normal casual wear, his hair peach pink, eyes deep brown peach blossom eyes, a seductive look in his eyes, smiling, “I’m the peach tree demon, Tao Yao, genderless, ranked seventh, currently a man.”
Meng Loudi: “Oh, hello, I’m the eighth chief, the ghost Meng Loudi, supposedly dead for a thousand years.”
Mr. Ghost was expressionless, very cold, not at all friendly towards his colleagues, almost writing “get out” on his face.
Qing Hua showed a helpless smile, “It seems we’ve disturbed him.”
After all, breaking into someone’s bedroom at night and scaring their partner would certainly earn hostility.
“Oh dear, your old brother doesn’t even have a partner yet~ and has to watch the younger ones flaunt their love.” The fox spirit stood there seductively, his fox eyes glancing at the bulging blanket, suggestively, “I wonder if I could take a closer look at your treasure?”
Mr. Ghost remained expressionless, “No.”
“Aw, so heartless.” The fox spirit leaned on Qing Hua’s shoulder, pretending to cry.
Meng Loudi’s brows furrowed so tightly they could crush a fly, his face darkening. “What exactly are you here for?”
