Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 33
“What are you dreaming about? If Uncle finds out, he’ll beat you to a pulp,” Jiang Chenyi said, shaking off his cousin’s grip. “You didn’t tell your dad, did you?”
“Nope,” Jiang Yuexi shrugged. He knew that if his superstitious and stubborn father found out his cousin was with another man, the Jiang Family would explode.
“The ID?” Jiang asked, showing no mercy. Compared to his long-lost cousin, he cared more about that thin piece of identification.
“Here,” Yuexi handed it over to the young man.
Jiang Chenyi took it and said, “Feel free to make yourself at home. If you want to play games, the password is still the same.”
Meng Loudi placed the fruit platter on the coffee table, sat on the sofa, and looked at Yuexi. “Make yourself comfortable.”
His smile was flawless.
Since he was Jiang Chenyi’s cousin, he was clearly different from others.
Jiang walked over and showed the newly minted ID to Meng Loudi. “Here’s your ID. I’ll keep it safe in my wallet.”
“Alright,” Meng Loudi agreed to everything.
Jiang tucked the ID into his wallet, placing it alongside his own, with a one-yuan bill sandwiched between them.
That should do it.
The young man casually placed the wallet on the coffee table.
Jiang Yuexi was enthusiastically exploring his cousin’s little nest.
“Not much has changed. Hey, couldn’t you add some cozy touches, big bro?”
Jiang popped a slice of honeydew into his mouth. “We’re both men. What cozy touches?”
Yuexi nodded. True enough.
He walked up to Meng Loudi and rudely scrutinized Mr. Ghost’s appearance. “Hey, bro, your man’s lips are too red, and his face is so pale. Is he kidney deficient?”
He was being deliberately provocative.
Such a kept man.
And an unregistered citizen at that.
What was he after with his cousin?
If it was money or love, that would be a disaster.
With that thought, Yuexi’s expression turned even more hostile. “By the way, does this gentleman even have his own income? Bro, you can’t keep a kept man. Your relationship isn’t even legally recognized. What if he cheats on you? Wouldn’t that be terrible?”
He looked at Jiang Chenyi, his expression sincere, as if he genuinely cared.
Indeed, he did genuinely care.
Jiang glanced at his ghostly partner, sensing that Mr. Ghost, who still maintained a perfect smile, was on the verge of exploding.
He raised his hand and gave Yuexi a light punch. “What nonsense are you spouting? That’s my wife. Don’t bully him.”
Yuexi snorted, “Fine, whatever. I’ve given you the ID, so live well with him. But if this kept man dares to bully you, let me know, and I’ll bring my friends to deal with him.”
He seriously threatened Meng Loudi right in front of him.
Jiang was a bit stunned.
He wondered what expression Yuexi would have if he found out Meng Loudi was a ghost.
Meng Loudi, still smiling warmly, gritted his teeth and said, “How could I ever bully Chenyi? I’ll live well with him, and I’m not a kept man. I won’t be one in the future either.”
He was trying hard, really hard, to prove he wouldn’t be a kept man!
After being questioned from all sides, Mr. Ghost finally understood.
Not having his own income was a painful thing.
His father-in-law questioned him, and now his wife’s cousin was questioning him!
Damn it! It’s infuriating!
Mr. Ghost cursed inwardly.
Then he said, “You’re Jiang Yuexi, right? It’s about time. Why don’t you stay for lunch?”
Even if he was seething inside, he had to keep up appearances.
Yuexi casually sat next to Jiang Chenyi, saying, “Of course. Every time I come, I stay for dinner and even sleep over.”
Sleep over? With whom?
Who else but Jiang Chenyi?
Mr. Ghost’s smile was starting to falter.
He kept smiling as he looked at Jiang, speaking in a calm tone, “Then, Chenyi, I’ll go prepare the meal.”
Jiang looked at him, his intuition telling him that his ghostly partner was a bit sad.
“I’ll help you. Yuexi, what do you want to eat?”
“Stewed meat! I want stewed meat!” Yuexi lounged on the sofa, grinning.
Then, Yuexi watched as the two disappeared into the kitchen, and the door closed behind them.
Meng Loudi took out the meat, began thawing it, and silently started chopping vegetables.
It was unusual because, under normal circumstances, when they cooked together, Meng Loudi would chat with him non-stop, and the atmosphere would be cheerful.
But now, his ghostly partner was unusually silent.
Jiang understood this was a clear sign. If he dared to ignore Mr. Ghost and didn’t ask what was wrong, his ghostly partner might throw a fit.
The young man walked over to Meng Loudi’s side, tugged on his sleeve, and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you upset?”
Mr. Ghost glanced at him, hesitated, and said, “…It’s nothing.”
Jiang Chenyi had no choice but to turn his face towards him and ask, “What’s really wrong? Why are you upset?”
Meng Loudi looked at his lover, then suddenly rested his chin on his shoulder, complaining, “Why does everyone say I’m living off you? It’s not like I want to be like this. I’m trying hard, and soon I’ll be able to support us.”
“Haha, what are you talking about? Who said you’re living off me?” Jiang patted his back, trying to appease him.
“They did. Both Dad and Yuexi said I have no income,” Mr. Ghost said gloomily.
Jiang Chenyi kissed the complaining man’s cheek and said, “It’s okay. Even if you want me to support you, I’m willing. Loudi isn’t just freeloading; you take care of all the housework, don’t you?”
“But it’s not the same~”
Mr. Ghost whined, clinging to him and nuzzling.
Jiang could only comfort him, “It’s really okay. If they say it again, I’ll scold them. I won’t let you be bullied. I like Loudi the most, don’t I?”
“Then Chenyi, you must always like me. Without your love, I’d die,” Mr. Ghost said, shamelessly using his beautiful face to charm him.
Jiang hugged him tightly, whispering, “I won’t let Mr. Ghost die. Mr. Ghost, stay with me forever.”
Their love had twisted.
Perhaps, after discovering Mr. Ghost’s dangerous thoughts, Jiang Chenyi’s decision to let it be had changed everything.
But because of this, their bond became even stronger.
Eavesdropping at the door, Jiang Yuexi gritted his teeth.
This green tea man! What was he trying to do?
Trying to use his brother against him?!
Ha!
Trash.
Did he think he could be defeated so easily?
He underestimated the men of the Jiang Family!
When the two brought out the dishes, Yuexi was sitting on the stool, laughing at the TV.
Jiang walked over and nudged his leg. “Go get the utensils!”
“OK.” Yuexi obediently went to get the cutlery.
At the table, Yuexi was unusually well-behaved, occasionally serving them food.
Jiang stopped him, “No need. What’s gotten into you?”
When did Yuexi become so diligent?
Yuexi grinned at them, “I just wanted to apologize to your partner. I was too harsh earlier. Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” Meng Loudi replied with a gentle smile.
“I was just worried about you, bro. You’re so naive. What if someone tricks you? But it seems Mr. Meng treats you well,” Yuexi said with a grin.
Jiang Chenyi sighed, “I’m not naive. What are you all worried about? We’ll live our lives well. You don’t need to worry.”
“Mm-hmm.” Yuexi wore an obedient smile.
The meal was unexpectedly harmonious.
And Yuexi shamelessly stayed.
He claimed that since it had been a while, they should spend quality time together.
He had taken leave with difficulty, so now that he was here, he planned to stay at his brother’s place for a few days.
Jiang Chenyi couldn’t do much about it and let him be.
And so, Yuexi ended up sleeping on the sofa.
Because Meng Loudi firmly refused to let them sleep together.
Mr. Ghost whispered to Jiang in the bedroom.
“Absolutely not! I must sleep with Chenyi. We’re together, so how can Chenyi sleep with someone else? Chenyi, don’t you love me anymore?”
Meng Loudi’s eyes were teary, looking pitiful.
Even though Jiang knew he was faking it, if he upset this guy, he might make all three of them unhappy.
And his ghostly partner was incredibly jealous.
If he didn’t go along with it, who knew how he might be punished.
So he went along with it.
Then Yuexi’s gaze towards Meng Loudi became even more unfriendly.
As expected, he was a seductive vixen, making him sleep on the sofa!
Ha, kept man.
On the second morning of Yuexi’s stay, Jiang Chenyi announced he was going to buy breakfast.
Meng Loudi suggested, “Let’s go together!”
Yuexi retorted, “Do you need two people to buy breakfast?”
So Jiang left Mr. Ghost at home.
He also thought that buying breakfast didn’t require two people.
After Jiang left, the fake smile on Yuexi’s face shattered completely.
He looked at Meng Loudi, smirking, “I didn’t expect it. You look so aloof, but you’re actually a seductive little thing.”
Having recently immersed himself in the online world, Meng Loudi knew that “seductive little thing” wasn’t a compliment.
He maintained his gentle smile, “What can you do about it? I am a seductive little thing, and Chenyi likes me. He loves me, spoils me, and is willing to support me. What can you do about it?”
Yuexi was speechless.
Wait, this wasn’t how it was supposed to go!
Wasn’t this guy supposed to be a pitiful white lotus in front of his brother?!
Did he expose himself so quickly?!
This was too unprofessional!
The young man was internally turbulent, then tried to steady himself, saying, “Ha, keep boasting. I’ve seen plenty like you.”
Of course, he was lying. Yuexi had never actually encountered a “kept man” before.
He stroked his chin, scrutinizing Mr. Ghost, “You’re just after my brother’s money, aren’t you? I’ll give you three hundred thousand to leave him.”
With that, he tossed a bank card onto the table, looking at Meng Loudi with disdain.
