Good Night, Mr. Ghost - Chapter 10
The two prepared dinner in silence, the air tinged with unspoken intimacy.
Jiang Chenyi and Meng Loudi sat opposite each other at the dining table, this time with a set of dishes for each.
Jiang Chenyi, eyes gleaming with anticipation, urged his Mr. Ghost, “Try this.”
He was curious to know if Meng Loudi could actually taste normal food.
If he could, it would be wonderful.
Their daily life would become so much more interesting.
He was determined to take this ancient ghost on a culinary tour!
Meng Loudi picked up a piece of beef brisket with his chopsticks, cautiously placing it in his mouth and chewing thoughtfully.
The ghost sighed, a bit helplessly, “It seems tasteless to me.”
“Ah-what a pity.” Jiang Chenyi appeared far more disappointed than Meng Loudi.
“What’s there to pity? It’s just a lack of taste,” Meng Loudi said with a comforting smile.
He didn’t want his companion to look so crestfallen.
“Ah, if only you could taste the flavors, we could go out to eat together. We could also enjoy snacks, fruits,” Jiang Chenyi said as he popped another piece of beef brisket into his mouth.
“You eating alone is fine too. Plus, it saves money,” Mr. Ghost joked.
The young man rolled his eyes and retorted, “Do I look like someone who cares about saving that little money? I’m the guy who dares to spend 648!”
Meng Loudi fell silent.
What does 648 mean?
He wasn’t quite sure.
Mr. Ghost was slightly puzzled.
Although it was a bit of a pity, it didn’t stop Jiang from enjoying his meal.
The tomato beef brisket was delicious, and with Mr. Ghost’s charming presence, Jiang ate two large bowls!
He felt so full he might vomit.
Meng Loudi gently massaged the young man’s stomach, chuckling, “If you can’t eat anymore, don’t force yourself. Maybe induce vomiting?”
Jiang, enjoying the tender care, declared righteously, “No vomiting! Wasting food is shameful!”
“Alright, are you happy today?” Mr. Ghost’s eyes curved into a gentle crescent, his gaze seemed to overflow with tenderness, almost drowning Jiang in it.
Jiang Chenyi covered his eyes, exclaiming, “Absolutely, I’m super happy today!”
Mr. Ghost’s smile grew even wider.
Jiang lowered his hand, took out his phone, and noted earnestly, “Today, October 5th, I and Mr. Ghost, no, My Mr. Ghost officially became a couple.”
Listening to the young man’s childish words, Meng Loudi unconsciously placed his hand over the young man’s heart, feeling it beat strongly-a rhythm that seemed to awaken the long-dormant heart within his spectral body.
This person was special, someone he couldn’t let go.
“Mr. Ghost, let’s play a game!” Even as a non-human’s hand touched his chest, Jiang felt no threat.
After all, this non-human was the one he would stay with for the foreseeable future.
“Okay.” Mr. Ghost still looked every bit the noble young scholar.
The man and ghost started playing video games.
As they played, Jiang watched as his character died yet again, then glanced at Meng Loudi’s screen; good, he was blowing other people’s heads off.
Despite both being men, why was there such a huge difference?
Jiang grumbled at Meng Loudi, “Avenge me.”
“Your wish is my command.” The ageless ghost spoke smoothly.
Soon, Jiang saw the one who had killed his character get taken down by his wife.
This feeling was simply too exhilarating!
Then, quite naturally, Jiang hugged Mr. Ghost’s legs.
As they played, Jiang suddenly asked, “Loudi, you won’t age in the future, will you?”
“Yes,” Mr. Ghost paused his game to look at him, his expression tender.
Jiang bristled, “Hey, hey, hey! We’re in the middle of a game; you can’t just stop!”
Mr. Ghost then continued to play while chatting with his beloved.
“What will I do when I get old?” Jiang’s thoughts quickly turned to the future.
“I will age with you, because I still know some magic,” Meng Loudi said softly, his eyes warm.
Jiang paused, setting his laptop aside, and sat cross-legged on the bed, “But, I will die, Loudi, and I’m starting to regret this.”
Indeed, he had acted impulsively.
A century from now, he would be an old man, then dead, reduced to bones, while Meng Loudi would still be a ghost, maintaining his handsome appearance.
Jiang’s character lost control and quickly died.
His teammates started cursing.
Mr. Ghost, without blinking, typed on the keyboard: He’s lagging, hold on.
Jiang felt somewhat dazed.
Meng Loudi looked at him, his expression enveloped in sorrow, “Are you thinking of backing out?”
He looked like a victim of a playboy, no, a white lotus1, pitiful and as if he had been wronged.
But it was true.
Jiang felt a bit guilty, looking at him.
“But, after I die, you’ll be alone again. The happy times will only be brief.”
Wasn’t that cruel?
To give someone a brief moment of happiness only to take it away so harshly?
Meng Loudi looked at him and said, “Would you deny me even this brief happiness? I’ve been lonely for nearly a thousand years; do you think I care about what comes after? Besides, when you leave, I will follow you. Don’t think about getting rid of me.”
Really, he was inseparable, even in death, he would follow, seeking the warmth he was entitled to.
Tears welled up in Jiang’s eyes once more: “How can you be so good?”
What kind of divine lover would say he would follow him in death?
Although slightly frightening, it was still acceptable.
He could completely accept it, considering his handsome face.
But considering the situation, if he ever made Mr. Ghost a cuckold, it would probably end very badly for him.
Jiang was a bit panicked.
But he could manage.
After all, he was clear about his own worth.
Mr. Ghost continued to dominate the opposing team, watching the victory screen and feeling that his lover probably didn’t want to continue playing.
He quickly closed the game, shut down the computer, climbed into bed, and held the deeply moved young man.
“Chenyi, what are you worried about?” He sensed the other’s unease.
Jiang lay in his arms, wrapped his arms around Mr. Ghost’s shoulders, and rested his chin on his shoulder, sighing, “Well, I just feel like I might ruin you.”
No matter how you look at it, a human dating a supernatural being-unless the latter is intent on murder-means the human has struck it big.
Meng Loudi embraced the fervent body of the young man, smelled his neck, unfortunately detecting no scent.
He wanted to smell the young man’s scent, to feel everything the other felt.
“Then ruin me. As long as you love me, you can do whatever you want with me. I’ll relish it,” Mr. Ghost continued his sweet talk.
Jiang was moved even further, hugging him tightly, “I won’t ruin you, I promise! I’ll protect you, and we’ll grow old together.”
“Okay.” Meng Loudi held him close, his heart softening.
They warmed each other, their hearts content.
After a heartwarming time, Jiang thought about something else, slightly excited, albeit embarrassed to mention it.
Well, they were both men; there was nothing to be shy about.
He had everything prepared; it wouldn’t do not to use it.
Jiang leaned close to Mr. Ghost’s ear, whispering, “My Mr. Ghost, do you want… you know?”
Meng Loudi paused, his innocence shining as he asked, “What?”
Jiang stiffened, released his hold, and cupped Mr. Ghost’s face, looking at his genuinely clueless expression.
He swallowed hard.
It was his own dirty mind, his impurity, his head filled with unsavory thoughts.
“Want a Coke?” Jiang tried to change the subject.
But Meng Loudi, ever so clever and wise, instantly understood there must be something else; his Chenyi was hiding something.
Thinking back on their recent actions.
Meng Loudi paused, puzzled. Could it be that men have intimate joys too?
As a ghost from a thousand years ago, although he knew men could engage in such things, he had never been interested. After dying young, he had never explored further.
So, was Chenyi suggesting they do that?
But, how would they do it…
Mr. Ghost’s cheeks flushed a strange red, shaking his head, “No drink, you shouldn’t either. Go wash up, and after that, we’ll sleep.”
Jiang, eyes wide, seriously said, “It’s only nine fifty-three, isn’t it too early?”
“Not at all. Let’s sleep early, I want to see you live a long life.” Mr. Ghost smiled softly, dazing Jiang as he headed to the bathroom.
Standing in the bathroom, Jiang couldn’t help but reminisce about Mr. Ghost’s words.
I want to see you live a long life.
My goodness, why so charming!
Jiang couldn’t handle it. He looked at himself in the mirror.
A handsome face, but his pale cheeks were flushed.
Today, Jiang felt as if he was walking on clouds, light and airy.
Cloud-walking Jiang climbed into bed, where Meng Loudi, dressed in ancient attire, lay on his side watching him.
His gaze was murderously tender.
Jiang was nearly hooked by it.
He climbed into bed, naturally lying next to Mr. Ghost.
“Mr. Ghost, could you turn off the light?” Jiang was somewhat nervous.
His heart was racing.
He hadn’t known what Mr. Ghost looked like before agreeing to be with him.
Jiang had even imagined Mr. Ghost as some kind of monster.
So, Jiang really loved Meng Loudi even without knowing what he looked like.
Meng Loudi looked towards the switch.
Then with a snap, the room went dark.
Right, Mr. Ghost was a ghost; he didn’t need to move like a human to turn off the light.
Jiang moved closer to Mr. Ghost’s side, still feeling a bit cool.
But Jiang just wanted to smile.
Such a handsome person!
To stay with him forever!
Meng Loudi also lay down, wrapping the young man tightly in his silky, cold garments.
Though comfortable, Jiang still asked, “Loudi, do you always sleep in your clothes?”
Meng Loudi was taken aback, “Yes.”
“That…”
He couldn’t quite say it.
It seemed too forward.
Meng Loudi, understanding part of what was left unsaid, released his hold, “Indeed, we are now husband and wife; there’s no need to keep our distance anymore.”
Jiang blinked.
So, you were deliberately keeping distance while holding me in your sleep before?
Now, he was curious if Mr. Ghost’s thought processes were a bit strange.
Surely, holding someone in sleep was already quite intimate! Was he just a human-shaped pillow?!
But Mr. Ghost was handsome, so he was forgiven.
Jiang was just that unreasonable.
