Perhaps fearing I might change my mind, it took only two days from viewing the apartment to making the decision.

Because of the apartment viewing, I didn’t get home until ten o’clock at night.

As soon as I entered, I saw Meng Yichen sitting on the sofa, his expression gloomy.

“Where have you been? Why are you coming home so late?” His brows were tightly knit.

“Went out for dinner with friends.”

“With whom? Why didn’t you tell me?”

His urgent tone was full of accusations.

“Meng Yichen, I don’t think I have any obligation to report to you.”

Exhausted and unwilling to argue, I left him and went to my room to wash up.

Early the next morning, I dragged my suitcase downstairs, ready to head straight to my new place to drop off my luggage.

Just as I was about to leave, Meng Yichen blocked my way.

“Where are you going? On a business trip?”

“Why do you care so much?”

“I’m your brother, I have the right to ask about your whereabouts.”

I scoffed lightly, “Now you’re my brother?”

“Didn’t you say I disgust you? I’m planning to move out, it’s closer to the office anyway.” With that, I headed straight for the door.

“Wait!” He grabbed my wrist, “I admit my tone was a bit harsh that day, you were just trying to help me. I apologize, come back and stay.”

For the first time, he apologized to me as “Miranda.”

If it were before, I might have actually forgiven him.

But now, with the suitcase in hand and the open door blocking my way back.

I decisively shook off his hand, “Don’t flatter yourself, I have to go to work, don’t make me late.”

“I’ll give you a ride.” He followed behind.

“It’s not on the way!”
