Forgotten Love - Chapter 22
I hurried toward Lin Jiao’s room.
Perhaps out of fear of causing a misunderstanding, Gu Huaian had not closed the door.
So, completely unprepared,
I came face to face with Gu Huaian.
At that moment, he was disheveled and looked utterly panicked.
He had wrapped his coat tightly around Lin Jiao.
His arm was stiffly wedged between himself and Lin Jiao,
as if he was afraid Lin Jiao would cling to him,
but also afraid that if he pushed too hard, he might knock her over.
“Lin Jiao, you-you need to calm down!”
“Wait for me to make a call and get someone to help you!”
Lin Jiao was clearly not in her right mind. She kept mumbling “hot” under her breath.
As she struggled, the coat slipped off, revealing the lace edge of her bra…
Gu Huaian was so startled he turned his head away, and in that instant, our eyes met.
“Shen Qingruan?”
His pupils contracted sharply, and he pushed Lin Jiao away.
As if he had suffered a great injustice, he strode over to me.
“Nothing happened between me and Lin Jiao! I don’t know what’s wrong with her-she started taking off her clothes and clinging to me as soon as she got back to the room!”
“I was just about to call you and ask you to come over!”
Gu Huaian looked at me nervously. Seeing I said nothing, his eyes grew red with anxiety.
“You have to believe me, I haven’t liked Lin Jiao for a long time. The one I like is…”
His words abruptly stopped. Gu Huaian pressed his lips together, a flash of unwillingness in his eyes.
After a moment, he gave a self-mocking tug at the corner of his mouth:
“Forget it, it doesn’t matter who I like anymore. After all, she doesn’t like me…”
“…”
Gu Huaian cast a resentful glance at me.
He looked at me as if I was the one being unreasonable.
But he was the one secretly keeping in touch with Lin Jiao.
He was also the one rumored to have an illegitimate child.
So how did he still have the nerve to act aggrieved?
I was speechless for a moment.
I seriously wondered if there was some huge misunderstanding between us.
“Gu Huaian, wait a moment. Let me find a doctor for Lin Jiao first.”
Seeing Lin Jiao groaning, her whole body flushed as if she was about to burn up,
I hurriedly asked Gu Huaian to help me carry her into the bathtub.
After filling it with cold water, she seemed much better.
Just then, the doctor was about to arrive as well.
I looked up and said seriously to Gu Huaian:
“Let’s go. If you have something to say, let’s talk it out in my room.”
