Chapter 12
Afraid of making noise, I walked barefoot, wrapped in my pajamas, and pushed open his door.
He didn’t lock the door? Using my phone for light, I tiptoed to his side.
He was asleep.
His sleeping face looked like this, without any expression, appearing even more restrained.
I hesitated whether to wake him up and apologize.
After thinking for half a minute, I felt a bit crazy, afraid of scaring him, so I prepared to sneak out and talk tomorrow.
Just as I was about to leave, my hand was grabbed. I was startled, and then my mouth was gently covered by him.
In the dim light, his cold eyes met mine for a few seconds, and after recognizing me, he gradually released his hand.
“What are you doing?” I shook off his hand.
He lay back down, sneering, “You come to my room in the middle of the night, asking me what I’m doing?”
I remembered why I came. But suddenly having to apologize, I felt awkward, so I stammered, “I shouldn’t have said that today, I didn’t know your mom passed away…”
He looked at me, as if he heard, or didn’t hear, with no expression.
I had to continue, “I shouldn’t have opened your wound, I apologize.”
He still didn’t speak, instead, he picked up his phone and glanced at the time.
“You don’t have to care about what others say, you’re fine.”
He put down the phone, chuckled softly, “Fine?”
I organized my words, “Pretty good, although you have a bad temper, I’ve never seen you hit anyone; although you’re quite rebellious, I’ve never seen you curse your dad; although you’re quite a jerk, you haven’t been a jerk to me…”
The more I spoke, the more guilty I felt. My compliments were indeed forced.
Seeing me stop, he suddenly laughed, not sure if he listened.
I felt a bit nervous.
“Three hours until dawn.” He suddenly said, staring straight at me, “If you want, make the most of the time.”
“I’m not…” I came to apologize, what does he think I’m here for?
“Not what?” He suddenly sat up, his face magnified in front of me.
My breath stopped, I forgot to step back.
“I want to…” go back, before I could finish, a warmth touched my lips.
When I reacted and pushed him, he didn’t give me any chance to breathe, directly holding my head.
My mind started buzzing, unable to think.
After a while, he finally let go of me for a few seconds, gently panting, hoarsely asking in my ear, “Did you lock the door?”
I was startled, immediately reacted, pushing him, “No lock, I’m going back.”
This time, taking advantage of his unawareness, I ran out like the wind, not caring about my image, practically rolling and crawling.
Back in my room, I realized I was so nervous I could hear my own pounding heartbeat.
