Falling for the Best Man, A Second Chance at Love - Chapter 12
Until one night, when I returned from a friend’s wedding banquet.
The familiar wedding feast, more than once, brought tears to my eyes.
It was the first time since the divorce that I was drunkenly tipsy.
Sheng Moyang appeared just like that, outside the door in the hazy moonlight.
The man’s broad hand gently caressed my flushed cheek.
“You’ve been drinking. Feeling down?”
“Mm.”
His palm was dry and slightly cool.
I couldn’t help but lean into it, rubbing against him.
He looked at me, the color in his eyes gradually deepening, his voice turning hoarse:
“Wait inside, I’ll go buy you some hangover medicine.”
He had just turned to leave when I lightly tugged at the corner of his shirt.
“Sheng Moyang, don’t go… Don’t leave tonight.”
He paused for only three seconds.
Then he said nothing more, turned, and led me back inside.
With a backward motion, he closed the door.
He pressed me down onto the sofa.
His hand clasped the back of my head, and his burning kiss fell upon me just like that.
It was hard to say whether it was the long-standing loneliness and emptiness that needed release, or if it was some vengeful instinct at play.
Just like that, I hooked my arms around his neck, entangling him in a deep, lingering kiss.
I had never imagined that those thin lips, which had once given me so much trouble, could kiss with such tenderness and passion.
In the silent night, my heartbeat was stirred and scattered by him again and again.
That was the first night we didn’t stay separated on either side of a wall.
The voice that accompanied me to sleep was no longer that of a sports game.
But instead, his warm breath falling softly, again and again, by my ear.
Everything felt like a beautiful, fleeting dream.
