Falling for the Best Man, A Second Chance at Love - Chapter 11
After a whole month of living off his food and feeling a bit guilty about it,
I became a little more easygoing with him.
Sometimes, I would even order food without the slightest courtesy:
“Sheng Moyang, I want to have chicken feet stew from A Shun Lou tomorrow.”
He would mock me for pushing my luck.
But at nine o’clock the next evening,
he would still show up at my door with a bag from A Shun Lou.
We had reached a kind of unspoken agreement.
Every time after I finished eating, I would go back to my room to wash up and sleep.
He would sit in the living room, watching his ball game on his own.
It wasn’t until I had sunk into dreams that I’d hear the soft click of the front door closing.
Unknowingly, he had accompanied me through countless nights.
I seemed to have gradually grown used to his nine o’clock deliveries.
And to the sound of the games that lulled me to sleep.
