Chapter 2
When we were going to bed at night, Gu Ze told me that the paint on my car was imported, and the 4S shop needed to order it, which would take two or three days to fix.
I didn’t suspect anything and, being busy with work, entrusted the matter entirely to him.
After the car was repaired and returned, I keenly noticed a scent inside that didn’t belong to me.
Not only that, when I got in, I found the angle of the rearview mirror was off, and the height of the driver’s seat had been adjusted.
Most importantly, I found an earring wedged in the seat gap.
The exaggerated design and dopamine colors instantly brought a face to my mind.
I took a deep breath, opened my phone, and pulled up that girl’s Moments.
In the pinned selfie, she was wearing those very earrings.
My heart sank, and with trembling hands, I continued scrolling down.
After a careful examination, I was shocked to discover things I had overlooked in her ambiguous, affectionate photos.
The tie, brooch, and watch I had given Gu Ze…
Seemingly captured unintentionally, they were actually flaunted subtly.
That unfamiliar perfume scent, her suggestive Moments, all had answers now.
I went upstairs, feeling lost, and the house was pitch dark.
I called Gu Ze, but unsurprisingly, he didn’t answer.
I pursed my lips and entered Gu Ze’s study.
After three unsuccessful attempts to unlock the computer, my barely restrained emotions nearly collapsed again.
All of Gu Ze’s previous passwords were my birthday plus the initials of my name.
Now, this password, like his heart, had quietly changed at some unknown time.
I sat dazed on the sofa, my mind a chaotic mess.
Gu Ze returned late at night, reeking of alcohol, clearly having drunk a lot.
I watched him stagger at the doorway several times, holding back, but finally softened and helped him to the sofa.
Gu Ze took the opportunity to hold me.
“Sweetie, once I finish this project, let’s go to Iceland to see the aurora, okay?”
I pushed him, but he didn’t budge, and I asked in a trembling voice.
“Gu Ze, do you know who I am?”
Gu Ze held me tighter, his fuzzy head nuzzling me, and he said coyly.
“You’re my wife, the wife I worked so hard to marry!”
Hearing this, tears streamed down my face.
Yes, I am Shu Jia, the one Gu Ze pursued with great effort.
How could he treat me like this?
Gu Ze was completely drunk and soon fell asleep beside me.
I took his phone from his pocket and entered the password.
Unsurprisingly, the password failed to unlock it.
So, I held his finger and tried each fingerprint.
On the third attempt, it finally unlocked.
