Chapter 1
On our fourth wedding anniversary, Gu Ze lavishly gifted me a Porsche 911.
Unexpectedly, the very next evening, I was rear-ended in the underground parking lot of our community.
“Sorry, I just got my driver’s license not long ago, and I’m still a bit inexperienced. Let me know where the damage is, and I’ll compensate you accordingly.”
The one who rear-ended me was a young girl.
Seeing her sincere attitude and modest attire, I decided not to make a fuss.
“It’s nothing, just a bit of paint scratched off, no big deal, no need to compensate.”
The young girl blinked at my words, apologetically pulling out her phone and moving closer to me.
“I’m really sorry, would it be okay if we add each other on WeChat? I’ll treat you to a meal sometime as an apology.”
Standing close, I caught a whiff of jasmine fragrance from her.
For some reason, I felt like I had smelled it somewhere before.
I slowly pulled out my phone.
“Alright.”
When I got home, I sat on the sofa and messaged Gu Ze, briefly explaining the situation and asking for the insurance company’s contact information.
Gu Ze took a long time to reply.
Instead, the young girl I just added messaged me first.
[So you’re from B University too, what a coincidence.]
[It’s so romantic that you and your husband went from school uniforms to wedding gowns.]
[But I’m a bit curious, being together for so long, don’t you get tired of each other?]
All my Moments are open to the public, and I didn’t mind her peeking into my life.
But as a stranger, her last question seemed a bit intrusive.
I didn’t reply directly to her but instead opened her Moments to take a look.
The first post that caught my eye was a meticulously edited photo with a caption.
[Nothing special.]
Posted ten minutes ago.
For some reason, I felt it was suggestive.
I casually scrolled through a few more of her posts and found that she wasn’t as financially strained as I had thought.
Just yesterday, she flaunted a rare Hermès bag in her Moments.
It was a style I liked.
The price was quite steep, and at the time, I felt a bit reluctant to ask Gu Ze to buy it.
While waiting for Gu Ze’s reply, I unknowingly fell asleep on the sofa.
When I woke up, the sound of water was trickling from the bathroom, and Gu Ze’s suit jacket was hanging nearby.
I picked up his phone and saw three missed calls, all from the same number.
When the fourth call came in, I picked up the phone and knocked on the bathroom door.
“Your phone’s been ringing several times, it might be urgent.”
Gu Ze opened the door, slicked back his wet hair with his hand, and smiled.
“Next time, just answer it for me, you know the password.”
Gu Ze’s complete trust made my heart warm, and I smiled as I handed him the phone.
“You should answer it yourself, in case it’s something from your company, I wouldn’t want to delay it.”
Gu Ze ruffled my hair, his gaze as gentle as water.
“You’re so considerate.”
After I left, Gu Ze immediately turned up the water sound and answered the call.
“What’s up, sweetie? Didn’t we just meet?”
The voice on the other end whimpered, coquettishly saying.
“I miss you, I want to be with you every moment, I can’t sleep without you soothing me.”
Hearing this, Gu Ze smiled, his voice soft and coaxing.
“I miss you too, once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll take you on a trip, okay?”
With that promise, the other side quieted down a bit.
“Promise me, okay? No lying.”
Then she chuckled slyly.
“Your wife’s car is so beautiful, I want to play with it too, and have fun with you in it.”
Gu Ze’s throat tightened, his voice a bit hoarse.
“Don’t be naughty, it was already reckless of you to run into Shu Jia today, let’s take it easy for a while, okay?”
The other side wasn’t about to give up.
“Don’t you really want to?”
