Everyone Says I Ride on the Movie King's Fame, Only the Movie King Knows I'm His Creditor - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The day after the livestream, Shengxing issued a lawyer’s letter.
It wasn’t addressed to me.
It was addressed to Shen Yan.
They claimed Shen Yan had livestreamed without authorization, leaked internal company information, and seriously harmed the company’s interests.
At the same time, Qin Yue posted a long statement denying everything.
He said the recording had been edited.
He said that seven years ago, I had repeatedly harassed Shen Yan, and the company had merely handled it through normal procedures.
He even implied that I was cunning, that I’d recorded everything early on and waited until Shen Yan became famous to turn around and bite him.
The internet split into two camps and started fighting.
One side cursed Shengxing for being disgusting.
The other said I really did seem suspicious.
My DMs filled with apologies.
And even more doubts.
Sister Chen looked at the numbers, nearly tearing her hair out.
“Jiang Tang, we have three interview invitations, two variety show guest spots, and one brand that wants to sign you.”
I said, “Turn them all down.”
Sister Chen stared at me.
“Have you lost your mind?”
“If I take them while I’m trending, it’ll prove I’m feeding off Shen Yan’s popularity.”
“Then what do you want to do?”
I pulled out the script for Dark Tide.
“Wait for the movie to be released.”
Sister Chen froze.
I said, “I’m an actress.”
“The best way to speak is through my work.”
It was a cliché.
But for me right now, it was genuinely the most useful thing I could do.
Shen Yan stayed in the hospital for two days.
On the day he was discharged, the car his company had sent was parked at the entrance.
He didn’t get in.
Qin Yue came in person.
He stood beside the car, his expression dark.
“Shen Yan, if you come back to the company now, there’s still room to discuss the contract.”
Shen Yan asked, “Discuss what?”
“An apology. Deleting the livestream replay. Admitting you lost control of your emotions.”
Shen Yan was very calm.
“No discussion.”
Qin Yue sneered.
“You think you’re strong enough to fly on your own now?”
“No.”
Shen Yan said, “But I can pay the breach of contract penalty.”
Qin Yue looked like he’d heard a joke.
“Do you know how much the penalty is?”
“I do.”
“Can you afford it?”
Shen Yan glanced at me.
I instantly went on alert.
“Don’t look at me. I haven’t even gotten my money back yet.”
He actually laughed.
Qin Yue’s face turned even uglier.
“Shen Yan, for her, you’re even willing to throw away your career?”
Shen Yan’s smile faded.
“Qin Yue.”
“The life that started my career was saved by her.”
“Using my career to threaten me isn’t exactly appropriate.”
Something nudged softly against my heart.
After Qin Yue left, Shen Yan and I stood side by side at the hospital entrance.
The wind ruffled the hair across his forehead.
I asked, “You’re really terminating your contract?”
“Mm.”
“It’s expensive.”
“I can pay it off.”
“And what about what you owe me?”
He looked at me.
“Top priority.”
I asked deliberately, “How are you going to pay me back?”
He thought for a moment.
“Principal, interest, and a public clarification.”
“Anything else?”
He said quietly, “The right to pursue you.”
I nearly choked on the wind.
“Shen Yan, are you always this direct now?”
The tips of his ears reddened a little.
“I practiced.”
“With whom?”
“Scripts.”
I burst out laughing.
