Chapter 5
I returned to the living room.
I collapsed onto the sofa, my fingers still trembling.
The sound of the shower was still running in the bathroom, the frosted glass showing his blurry silhouette.
I quickly wiped the tears from my face and used my own phone to screen-record the filthy chat history.
Then I placed his phone back where it was.
You want a son, is that it?
I sneered.
Fine.
I’ll let you have one!
I took a needle from my vanity drawer.
Then I took the box of condoms from Chen Chengjun’s gym bag.
I poked a dozen tiny holes in every single condom.
Then I carefully put them back, making sure they were in the exact same position as before.
A moment later, the sound of the shower stopped.
I hurried back to bed, lying on my side with my back to him.
The mattress dipped slightly as he lay down, bringing the scent of shower gel with him.
His warm hand rested naturally on my waist, giving the soft flesh there a gentle squeeze.
“Honey…” His voice was laced with weariness, a sticky whisper behind my ear.
I didn’t answer him.
His warm hand didn’t stop.
It began to trace my waistline, moving downwards with a slow, gentle caress, its pressure ambiguous and full of suggestion.
A powerful wave of nausea washed over me.
“Don’t touch me!”
I wrenched away from his hand, the movement so abrupt it startled even me.
“What’s wrong?” His mood broken, his tone held a trace of bewilderment.
“Nothing,” I said, my back still to him, trying to keep my voice calm.
“I’m just really tired today. I don’t want to move.”
I don’t want to move?
I don’t want to be touched by you!
The air was silent for a few seconds.
I could feel his gaze, tinged with disappointment, resting on my back.
“Alright then,” he grumbled. The mattress creaked as he rolled over heavily.
