Doll Survival Game - Chapter 44 - Lin Na's Last Day (Part 6)
The distraught voice of the aunt attracted many people. Zhang Mimi was the first to open the door, clearly not fully awake, and immediately vented his irritation, “So noisy… It’s only eight o’clock!”
Zhang Mimi lived with Tang Bai and Cheng Chen. As he came out, the other two followed.
“What’s going on?” Cheng Chen asked.
Wang Xing and Lin Xiaohai also came out from the next room.
Luo Yiran turned around, pointing outside, “The aunt said she can’t get out.”
Everyone was stunned, then they hurried downstairs.
Reaching the aunt, they tried pushing alongside her. Wang Xing was shocked, “It really won’t budge!”
Lin Luo stayed inside, so Luo Yiran could only watch from the window. The doll tried to look up, then suggested, “Try the other side, see if it’s just this direction or… all directions.”
If all directions were blocked by an invisible wall… it meant they couldn’t leave the house.
Tang Bai, quick to react, felt along the invisible wall to the right.
Lin Xiaohai, a step slower, dragged Wang Xing to try the left side.
At that moment, Xia Lang came out, his lips tinted with pink lipstick, slightly frowned, and then elegantly descended the stairs, “What’s happened? Where are mom and dad?”
Li Qi Feng and Via’s room was at the far end of the second floor, so they probably hadn’t heard the commotion below.
But.
Luo Yiran looked at Xia Lang, instantly understanding what Via had said earlier, and quickly deduced-this person was not Xia Lang.
“Xia Lang” descended the stairs nonchalantly, glanced disdainfully at Lin Luo, then with a slightly displeased look out the window, “What are you doing? Where are eldest brother and eldest sister?”
“Oh right, big brother likes to sleep in on weekends.” He answered his own question, “But what about sister? She usually gets up early.”
Luo Yiran stared at him, guessing for a moment, “She might still be in her room.”
Then he turned back to see Lin Xiaohai, Wang Xing, and Tang Bai converge after circling around, their voices uneasy, “It seems like we can’t get out now.”
“Xia Lang” didn’t catch on, “What?”
Cheng Chen, witnessing the scene, was dumbfounded, instinctively turning to Zhang Mimi nearby, “What do we do?”
Who knows. Zhang Mimi felt his pockets, remembered his cigarettes were in his room, and turned back inside.
As he walked, he thought-
This might be an instance restriction, keeping them from leaving… or maybe there’s something odd about this place.
“Xia Lang” noticed something, ran out, then frowned as he touched the air-it felt like a wall.
They were still confused when suddenly a very artificial scream came from Via upstairs.
“Ah-”
Zhang Mimi, examining the house, jumped at the scream, then instinctively looked up, “What now?!”
Fortunately, his character naturally aligned with his personality, so Zhang Mimi didn’t go OOC.
The people in the living room hurried upstairs, halfway up they heard another female scream.
The only women left upstairs were Lin Na and her sister.
Everyone instinctively thought it was Lin Na’s sister screaming, given that Lin Na was likely in the most danger.
When they reached the top, they found Lin Na sitting terrified outside her sister’s room.
Nearby stood Lin Ye, Li Qi Feng, and Via, slumped down.
Lin Luo was the first to reach them, quickly stepping forward-
His stride was wide, although Luo Yiran didn’t find it shaky, his vision was somewhat blurred, making it hard to see clearly.
So when Lin Luo saw the scene inside the room and quickly covered Luo Yiran’s eyes, while the doll only caught a glimpse of someone sitting on the floor.
Lin Luo’s hand trembled slightly, leaning against the wall, his breathing unsteady.
Luo Yiran considered for a moment, then touched Lin Luo’s hand, “Lin Luo, let go.”
Others arrived, screaming in succession.
The doll said, “I’m prepared.”
Lin Luo hesitated, then slowly let go, “Okay…”
The scene Luo Yiran hadn’t seen clearly reappeared before the doll. Luo Yiran immediately saw in the center of Lin Na’s sister’s room, beside a luxurious bed, a beautiful girl sitting on the floor.
She leaned against the side of the bed, her silky long hair slightly grazing the floor. Her graceful long dress wrapped around her body, but the chest was stained red with a large amount of blood, even the cross necklace on her neck was splattered with blood.
But her eyes were still open, utterly lifeless.
She was dead.
Murdered.
Luo Yiran felt neither fear nor disgust, his first reaction was to look downstairs, in the direction where “Xia Lang” was-he had suspected Xia Lang was OOC and assimilated after death, but with the sister being murdered…
Did this mean Xia Lang hadn’t died, or did OOC death and being murdered lead to different outcomes?
“Who killed her?” Zhang Mimi spoke angrily, scanning everyone around.
Lin Luo eyed Via and Lin Na, hugging the doll tightly, scoffed, “Shouldn’t you be asking yourselves? Surely we wouldn’t kill our own kin?”
“Ranran has never been out of my sight for more than ten minutes since he came to my house.”
“He couldn’t have possibly.”
Zhang Mimi struggled to hold back tears, then turned to Lin Na, who was leaning against the wall alone, “Was it you! Did you kill her!”
Lin Na was terrified, “No… not…”
Lin Ye tried to stop Zhang Mimi’s actions, but given what he knew, his character couldn’t intervene, similarly Zhang Mimi’s actions fit his character…
Hmm?
Lin Ye paused.
It was clear that Zhang Mimi liked the sister, but why was Lin Na the first he suspected when the sister died?
“Call the police!” Via struggled to squeeze out a tear or two, then he tapped Li Qi Feng.
Li Qi Feng quickly pulled out his phone and dialed 110, only to soon hear that the call couldn’t be connected.
The emergency number couldn’t be connected?
Others quickly took out their phones to try calling the police, but none could get through.
Panic spread momentarily, the players were okay, but the “Xia Lang” who caught up later was extremely panicked, even wondering if it was the apocalypse outside.
The aunt, leaning against the wall, turned pale, “What do we do?”
The doll frowned at her-honestly, besides Lin Luo, this aunt was the only one he couldn’t tell if she was acting or… real.
Almost everyone looked towards Li Qi Feng or Lin Ye, as they were older and held higher status, while most of them had student profiles.
“First…” Li Qi Feng seemed reluctant as he glanced at his sister, “Keep everything as it is, then we’ll drive out to report.”
The doll spoke out, “We can’t leave.”
Li Qi Feng was startled, instinctively looking at the balcony, “What do you mean?”
The aunt trembled, “Something… something has covered this house.”
Everyone immediately understood this might be a game restriction, but-
“When did the barrier come up?” Li Qi Feng asked.
Everyone turned to the first to discover it, the aunt.
The aunt jumped, then stuttered, “Early… last night I could still throw the trash outside.”
Li Qi Feng frowned.
He asked this question knowing the reason because yesterday’s instance had a rule: [Players are not allowed to kill each other outside of normal processes.]
So let’s assume the sister was a player, then the murderer could be someone outside the house, a player who can kill under “normal processes,” or an extra “person” among them.
Then assuming the sister was no longer a player, there are two possibilities. One is the sister was just using that player’s appearance.
Although Lin Ye said he had seen this person, what if the sister was just borrowing that player’s appearance?
Two, the sister became like Xia Lang, perhaps Xia Lang’s kind no longer belonged to players, so being killed by a player didn’t count as killing each other.
Luo Yiran couldn’t turn his index finger, so he raised his hand to bite it-although the aunt said the barrier only appeared this morning, her credibility was low for him, and even if true, the possibility of someone outside killing the sister was very low.
After all, this was an instance, and the participants were usually the people present.
So, who killed the sister?
“The blood hasn’t coagulated yet!” Zhang Mimi, looking at the still-flowing blood excitedly, had to show sadness and care as his character loved the sister, “It means the murderer is among us!”
If she had just died, indeed it could only be one of them who killed the sister.
“Don’t suspect others randomly, let’s all go downstairs and see if there really is no way out.” Li Qi Feng decisively said, showing some sorrow, then supporting Via downstairs.
Lin Na got up alone, her face blank as she leaned on the wall and followed.
Others had no reason to stay, so they all went downstairs, except “Xia Lang” who looked fearfully and with a hint of another emotion at the sister with unshut eyes as he left.
“Are we not going down?” Luo Yiran looked up.
“Let’s go.” Lin Luo glanced at his sister, suddenly saying, “Sister died by the bed, almost without struggle.” The blood was also just by the bed.
With that statement, the doll slightly smiled-Lin Luo was still a magician.
“Then it’s very likely done by someone she was familiar with and trusted.”
Lin Luo hugged him as they walked down, their shoes making slight noises against the brown staircase, Luo Yiran watching those gathered in the living room-
His gaze landed on Lin Na, who was shivering and about to sit down.
So far, it seemed Lin Na hadn’t received any more pranks.
Just as he thought this, he saw Lin Na scream as she sat down, then incredulously reached to touch the chair, finding two thumbtacks.
Luo Yiran: “…”
Lin Na exploded, her eyes red as she looked around, “Who did this?!”
No one answered, and the system’s voice only rang in the ears of the successful prankster.
Lin Na clenched her teeth, then turned to go upstairs.
As she passed by Lin Luo, she glanced at the doll with red eyes.
Luo Yiran: “…”
He would wait, still planning to find a moment to separate from Lin Luo and then sneak a peek at that love letter.
