Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 9 - Stopped in Their Tracks
After saying that, he suddenly quickened his pace, turned a corner, and broke into a full sprint.
If Chen Shuran saw this, she would definitely clutch her stomach and laugh uncontrollably. Just as she thought, the scene of Tang Jie half-naked was indeed happening.
At this moment, Tang Jie felt like crying but had no tears left. If there were a block of tofu in front of him, he might have just hit his head against it.
With a sprinting speed of a hundred meters per second, Tang Jie dashed like lightning back to the apartment arranged for him by Uncle Zhao. With a “bang,” he tightly closed the door and breathed a sigh of relief.
“She, she actually didn’t give my shirt back!” He sat on the sofa, fuming with anger. Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he was stunned. “Could she… be planning to take my clothes…”
Instantly, an image appeared in Tang Jie’s mind: a young woman taking off her camisole and black hot pants, gently placing a light blue shirt in front of her chest, and caressing it slowly.
Her cheeks gradually flushed, her eyes grew misty, and her lips parted slightly. As her caressing movements quickened, an enticing moan escaped her lips.
Thinking of this, Tang Jie shivered all over, swallowed a gulp, stood up, and ran to the bathroom to take a cold shower.
After extinguishing the flames of desire, Tang Jie emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, wiping the water droplets from his body. Just then, the phone rang.
“Hello, Uncle Zhao, what’s up?” Seeing the caller ID, it was Uncle Zhao’s call. Tang Jie picked up the phone and answered.
“Tang, did you find Miss Chen tonight?” Uncle Zhao’s voice sounded on the phone.
“Yes, I did!” Tang Jie had no intention of hiding anything; when Uncle Zhao asked, he replied truthfully.
“Oh, then everything’s fine… Miss Chen’s personality can be a bit stubborn sometimes; please be patient with her!” Uncle Zhao said warmly.
“Yes, it’s fine, Uncle Zhao. Actually, Miss Chen’s personality is quite entertaining,” Tang Jie said with a smile on his lips, recalling Chen Shuran’s antics tonight, which amused him.
“Alright, then I won’t bother you any longer. I’ll let you rest!” Uncle Zhao nodded and said.
After hanging up the phone, Tang Jie dried off the water droplets on his body, quickly jumped into bed, and soon drifted into slumber.
The next day, sunlight streamed through the window into the room, and Tang Jie finally opened his slightly sleepy eyes.
Stretching lazily in bed, Tang Jie then threw off the covers and got up. After pushing open the door and grabbing a can of milk and some bread from the fridge, he sat down at the dining table to eat.
After breakfast, Tang Jie changed into a white casual sports outfit, left the apartment, and hailed a taxi, heading straight to G City’s No. 2 High School.
The ride was silent, and about twenty minutes later, the taxi arrived at No. 2 High School. It was around nine in the morning, a busy time for high school students, and by the time Tang Jie reached the school gate, there wasn’t a student in sight.
Getting out of the taxi, Tang Jie adjusted his clothes, cleared his throat softly, and walked confidently toward the school gate.
“Stop right there, what are you doing?” Before he could step through the school gate, an old security guard, about sixty years old, came out of the guardroom. Seeing Tang Jie in his white casual outfit trying to enter the school, he called out to him.
Hearing this, Tang Jie stopped in his tracks, looked at the old security guard in confusion, and said, “I’m not doing anything wrong. Can’t you see I’m trying to enter the school?”
“Enter the school?” The old security guard looked Tang Jie up and down suspiciously.
Tang Jie was about nineteen years old, with an ordinary appearance, the kind that would blend into a crowd. His youthful look hadn’t faded, so the old security guard didn’t mistake him for someone from outside the school.
The old security guard indeed thought Tang Jie was a student at No. 2 High School. After scrutinizing him for a while, he asked sternly, “Which class are you from? It’s already nine o’clock, and you’re just coming to class? Also, why aren’t you wearing a school uniform?”
“Uh…” Tang Jie was startled upon hearing this but then realized that the old security guard must have mistaken him for a student. Smiling apologetically, he said, “I’m sorry, I overslept, which is why I’m late. I promise it won’t happen again.”
“Hmph, you’re in high school preparing for college, and yet your lifestyle is still so undisciplined. Oversleeping for school? If your parents knew you were wasting their money like this, wouldn’t they be heartbroken?” The old security guard continued passionately, spitting as he spoke.
Tang Jie’s previously cheerful expression suddenly turned cold. His gentle eyes became eerily sinister and chilly as he stared directly at the old security guard. In a cold voice, he said, “How my parents teach me is none of your business. If you dare to comment on my parents again, I’ll kill you!”
“Kill you!!”
As Tang Jie’s final words echoed, the surrounding temperature seemed to drop suddenly, causing the old security guard to shiver involuntarily.
Tang Jie grew up without parents; the old man who raised him was both his father and mother. Since childhood, Tang Jie has been extremely sensitive about others discussing his parents.
The old man never hid the truth from Tang Jie, bluntly telling him he was adopted. Although Tang Jie never outwardly showed any longing for parental love, his silence didn’t mean he didn’t yearn for it.
Once, while on a mission, Tang Jie was placed with a group of mercenaries. During casual conversations, the topic of parents came up. Somehow, the subject turned to Tang Jie, and when it came out that he was an orphan, one mercenary who didn’t like Tang Jie began mocking him.
Initially, Tang Jie didn’t react, but as the mercenary’s words grew increasingly outrageous, Tang Jie finally took action. Without saying a word, he killed the mercenary outright.
When the sharp dagger slit the mercenary’s throat, Tang Jie’s face remained expressionless, as if he hadn’t just taken a life.
This incident demonstrated that in Tang Jie’s heart, the subject of his parents was a forbidden topic, one that if crossed, meant death.
Even after Tang Jie had disappeared from the school gate, the old security guard still hadn’t recovered from that bone-chilling gaze. It was only then that he realized his legs were trembling uncontrollably.
