Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 68 - A Tough Battle
Tang Jie paid no attention to the hooligans around him. The moment his words left his mouth, he swiftly reached Zhu Nan’s side and grabbed his neck with both hands.
“Tell me, where did you learn your martial arts? How did you reach the acquired peak so quickly?”
Zhu Nan’s face was filled with astonishment. He had thought that after his hard work, he had gained enough strength to handle Tang Jie, but upon seeing Tang Jie charging toward him, he realized he was utterly defenseless.
“Speak up!” Tang Jie said, tightening his grip, leaving Zhu Nan struggling to breathe.
Zhu Nan kicked at Tang Jie with all his might and tried to pry his hands off, but after a long struggle, he couldn’t break free. Tang Jie maintained his chokehold until he felt the time was right and slowly released his grip.
“Still not going to talk?” Tang Jie threatened, assuming a threatening posture.
Zhu Nan, in a panic, coughed violently a few times before suddenly standing up and saying, “Wait, wait! I’ll talk! A stranger gave me two pills. After I took them, I became like this.”
“Is it really that miraculous? Where is this stranger?” Tang Jie shouted, swinging his hand forcefully. The hooligans who had been preparing to ambush him were sent flying like leaves in the wind.
“I don’t know! I really don’t know who that stranger is! I haven’t seen him since that day!” Zhu Nan screamed desperately.
With a cold expression, Tang Jie kicked Zhu Nan squarely in the chin. After Zhu Nan spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed, Tang Jie struck him hard once more. Soon, Zhu Nan’s body began to emanate true qi slowly.
Tang Jie ignored Zhu Nan, who was lying on the ground, barely conscious. He hadn’t actually hurt him badly; he had simply ruined Zhu Nan’s cultivation meridians.
After this incident, Tang Jie felt that someone was quietly monitoring him from the shadows, so he knew he had to increase his strength. Otherwise, when this net closed in on him, he would be at a loss as to what to do.
Back at the villa, Tang Jie began to cultivate furiously. Within just two days, he successfully mastered the second skill after the earth-piercing needle-the sky-turning needle.
Although his overall strength didn’t increase significantly at that moment, his combat skills improved dramatically. With the sky-turning needle in hand, his power could double, and this became Tang Jie’s greatest reliance.
Just as Tang Jie was deep in thought, unable to comprehend why he hadn’t made any progress, trouble came knocking. Suddenly, there was a knock on his window. Tang Jie paused, glanced at the unfamiliar face outside, and in order to avoid startling the Chen family, he opened the window and jumped down, then followed the person as they ran.
“Hello, I’m Chen Yin,” said the person who stopped running after appearing next to Tang Jie’s window. He turned slightly to look at Tang Jie and spoke calmly.
Tang Jie was taken aback, tilted his head for a moment, and finally responded, “Chen Yin, Chen Shen. Are you related to that guy?”
“Not at all,” Chen Yin replied with a slight smile.
Tang Jie was speechless. He looked at Chen Yin’s face, feeling it was completely unfamiliar, and helplessly asked, “So, do you have any connection to Chen Jiankai or Chen Shuran?”
“No, I have no relation to anyone.”
“Then what is your connection to me?”
“The relationship between a killer and the one to be killed,” Chen Yin replied with a smile.
Tang Jie shook his head in frustration. He had grown accustomed to these encounters where someone appeared, wanting his life, only to end up dead at his hands. He didn’t have a favorable view of these types of people.
“Can we make this quick? I want to get back to sleep,” Tang Jie said as he quietly began to condense the sky-turning needle.
“As the son-in-law of the Wang family, I should treat you with a bit of respect. How about this: you go first,” Chen Yin said with a smile, looking at Tang Jie.
Those words completely stunned Tang Jie. He struggled to lift his eyelids and stared blankly at Chen Yin. “What are you talking about? Wang family? Which Wang family?”
“Come on, son-in-law, stop pretending. Wang Qianya should be in this city too, right?”
“You mean Wang Qianya?” Tang Jie’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Chen Yin nodded gravely, then suddenly darted to the side. Finally, Tang Jie understood who this person was. The Chen family? Were they not part of the Chen ancient martial arts family that opposed the Wang ancient martial arts family?
However, Tang Jie felt incredibly wronged as the son-in-law of the Wang family. He originally had no intention of getting involved in this mess, yet he found himself drawn in under such a bewildering identity.
“It seems that wherever there is trouble in this world, there I am, Tang Jie!” Tang Jie exclaimed. Before Chen Yin could react, he charged at him with full force.
However, to his surprise, Tang Jie suddenly bounced back as if he had changed his approach mid-charge. Judging by his contorted posture, it was clear something unusual had happened.
In reality, Tang Jie hadn’t pulled back; he had been knocked back by a single palm strike from Chen Yin. Just one strike, and Tang Jie had found himself utterly defenseless.
Chen Yin looked coldly at Tang Jie, a slight smile tugging at his lips. “Hmm, not bad. I didn’t expect you to be so strong at such a young age.”
“You… you’re a Heaven-Man Realm master?” Tang Jie exclaimed in disbelief as he looked at his aching hand, struggling to get back on his feet.
Seeing Tang Jie rise again, Chen Yin suddenly darted forward and kicked him. However, Tang Jie had braced himself in advance, so he didn’t suffer too much damage from the blow.
But when Tang Jie looked at Chen Yin again, he was filled with intense caution. With Chen Yin’s swift movement, Tang Jie found himself dodging as if caught in a storm.
“Young man, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not a Heaven-Man Realm master, but I’m not far from that realm,” Chen Yin declared, laughing maniacally. He looked at Tang Jie with the indifferent gaze one might have for a dead man.
As Tang Jie pondered how to land a fatal blow on Chen Yin or find a route to escape where Chen Yin couldn’t follow, he looked around and found there was nowhere to flee.
“I think you might still be unclear about the situation,” Chen Yin said, a greenish sword appearing in his hand. The blade glinted as he pointed it directly at Tang Jie’s head.
“Go to hell, and the King of Hell will tell you all you need to know.”
As soon as Chen Yin finished speaking, he swept his hands, unleashing a mad surge of energy that rushed towards Tang Jie. At that moment, Tang Jie had completed gathering his sky-turning needle. With a push of his palms, he launched the needle with a whoosh straight at Chen Yin.
The power of the sky-turning needle was, of course, much greater than that of the earth-piercing needle. Combined with Tang Jie’s full effort in this strike, the needle’s force was several times stronger than what he would normally achieve in training.
Tang Jie thought that even a true Heaven-Man Realm master might not withstand this blow. However, to his shock, Chen Yin casually broke through the sky-turning needle. Although beads of blood formed on his hand, his expression showed not a hint of change.
“Not bad, not bad. Your cultivation method is incredibly powerful. If I hadn’t prepared in advance, you might have actually killed me,” Chen Yin praised, lowering the sword in his hand slightly.
Tang Jie frowned, a sense of foreboding washing over him. Indeed, as Chen Yin’s arm drooped, an ominous force radiated from his body, growing increasingly formidable.
“This is bad,” Tang Jie shouted, trying to dodge. But to his dismay, he found he could not escape in time.
The pressure from Chen Yin surged to its peak, and the sword in his hand transformed from green to surrounded by white rings of light.
With a whoosh, a cold wind brushed past Tang Jie’s ears as Chen Yin unleashed the sword. The blast of white light hurtled directly toward him.
It was clear this was Chen Yin’s lethal strike. If it hit him, he would have no chance of survival. But Tang Jie didn’t want to give up so easily; he struggled and backed away as hard as he could.
As the white light crept closer, Tang Jie realized he had no hope of dodging. He shut his eyes tightly.
With a loud “bang,” a crisp explosion echoed, and Tang Jie felt a hurricane force hit him. But to his astonishment, he felt no pain whatsoever.
Curious, he opened his eyes. To his surprise, he saw a petite figure soaring through the air, blood spurting downwards from her body.
“Wang Qianya?” Tang Jie called out in confusion. At that moment, he felt a surge of strength course through him. He leaped up and caught Wang Qianya, who was drifting in mid-air.
“You beast!” Tang Jie yelled towards Chen Yin as he hurriedly carried Wang Qianya to a position farther away from him.
