Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 66 - Lure
Seeing this situation, Tang Jie frowned deeply. Suddenly, a figure shot out from the building, moving incredibly fast. It was clear that this person was an innate master, and unlike Tang Jie, who had just achieved a breakthrough, this was someone who had been an innate master for quite some time.
“Who are you?” Tang Jie asked cautiously as he looked at the figure before him.
“Well, that depends. Are you asking for my name or my codename? My name is Chen Shen, and my codename is Poison Valley. But knowing that won’t help you much; I’m about to send you straight to hell.”
Hearing this, Tang Jie felt extremely displeased. Normally, he would be the one delivering such words, but now the tables had completely turned.
“Alright, enough small talk. Let’s get to it,” Tang Jie said, all the while scanning the surroundings for an escape route.
An innate master! Although Tang Jie was also an innate master, considering the current situation, he wasn’t necessarily a match for this person. Tang Jie was not reckless; knowing he couldn’t win, he was determined to find a way to escape.
Han Zhen, who was beside him, shared the same thought. He was also surveying the environment, waiting for the right moment to make a desperate dash.
Unexpectedly, Chen Shen seemed to anticipate their thoughts. He didn’t wait for the two to finish their observations and suddenly attacked. What was worse, his target was not Tang Jie but rather Han Zhen, who was slightly weaker.
Seeing this, Han Zhen cursed loudly and prepared to flee hastily.
Tang Jie realized the dire situation as well, but it was too late for him to save Han Zhen. Just then, he remembered something the old man had once said.
“Tang Jie, this cultivation method isn’t something you can practice; it requires an innate practitioner.”
After that, Tang Jie had specifically studied this cultivation method. However, no matter how much he researched, he found he could not concentrate, so he abandoned it and kept the information firmly in his mind.
Now that he was an innate practitioner, he thought to himself and hesitated no longer; he felt the cultivation method stirring within him, and his brow furrowed.
A warm sensation flowed down from his head to his body, and in less than a second, Tang Jie unexpectedly entered a state of concentration. Instantly, he was overjoyed and began to move his hands according to the cultivation method.
“Whoosh.” A loud sound echoed as a needle-like object in Tang Jie’s hand shot fiercely towards Chen Shen.
Tang Jie was filled with anticipation as the massive needle raced to catch up with Chen Shen’s swift movements, just as Chen Shen’s hands were about to strike Han Zhen’s back. The powerful needle reached Chen Shen’s face at the same moment.
Feeling a tremendous force, Chen Shen quickly turned around to block the massive needle.
What happened next was astonishing. As an innate master himself, Chen Shen successfully used the sword in his hand to intercept the gigantic needle, but to his surprise, the sword began to shatter into pieces in mere seconds.
Then, the needle penetrated Chen Shen’s body as if it met no resistance at all.
“Thud.” The needle embedded itself completely into Chen Shen’s chest, yet there were no wounds visible on his skin.
Seeing this, Tang Jie frowned slightly, initially thinking that his attack had no effect. However, to his disbelief, Chen Shen suddenly collapsed to the ground with a loud thud, his back transforming into what looked like a pool of pus.
“Is he really dead?” Han Zhen couldn’t believe it as he lightly prodded Chen Shen’s corpse with his weapon.
Tang Jie was utterly shocked. He truly didn’t expect that a simple cultivation method casually handed over by the old man could hold such immense power.
To take out an innate master in one move-who would believe it? No one would, yet Tang Jie had just done it.
Chen Shen, in his final moments, must have felt incredibly frustrated. He had relied on being an innate master and believed he could easily defeat the two, yet he hadn’t even managed to execute his first move before meeting his end.
“W-Who is your master? How can he possibly be so powerful?” Han Zhen stammered, shocked.
Tang Jie shook his head, glancing into the distance, he paused for a moment before saying, “Just an old man.” A look of nostalgia crossed Tang Jie’s face.
After a moment of stunned silence, the two went their separate ways. Han Zhen was relatively unfazed, but Tang Jie had to come up with a hundred lies to explain himself when facing Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran, the two beauties. Otherwise, he would surely be subjected to a thorough scolding.
This incident quickly spread within the Viper organization. Upon hearing the news, the entire organization was shocked because the fallen innate master was second only to their boss.
In a dark villa in a certain city, several guards stood outside, their attire appearing casual, yet exuding an undeniable aura of authority.
This was, in fact, the stronghold of the Viper organization, where the Viper boss lounged on the sofa, casually eyeing the two newcomers.
“You don’t think you need to explain Chen Shen’s death?” the Viper boss said coldly.
The two individuals were taken aback, quickly glancing at the Viper boss. “Boss, we found out that the one who killed Chen Shen is our old enemy, Tang Jie.”
“Huh? You mean that kid who’s not yet twenty?” The Viper boss frowned deeply, his gaze shifting rapidly between the two.
Outside the door, several guards lounged around, occasionally stealing glances at the Viper higher-ups seated in the living room. There was their boss, and the other two were influential figures within the organization. Such opportunities were rare to see their boss in person. Even though they were all ancient martial arts masters, the disparity in their statuses was substantial.
“Alright, since he was able to kill Chen Shen, he must not be weak. I’ll personally go meet this guy,” the Viper boss declared, slamming his hand on the table and rising abruptly.
The two nodded grimly, feeling both a sense of excitement and worry in their hearts.
Later that night, after a spirited conversation with Chen Shuran, Tang Jie laid down in bed and fell into a deep sleep. Suddenly, he was jolted awake by a powerful energy fluctuation that caught his attention.
Tang Jie rolled over, snapping his eyes open, and stared intently towards the horizon.
“Hmm?”
He pushed open the glass window and scanned the grass below, then looked further into the distance. He quickly determined that the energy fluctuation was coming from over a kilometer away, and in Tang Jie’s perception, it was gradually getting closer.
This was an ominous sign. Without a second thought, Tang Jie hurriedly dressed, pushed the window open, and jumped down.
The energy fluctuations continued, rhythmic and intermittent, clearly indicating something significant, as if someone was intentionally causing it.
However, considering the circumstances, this matter was undoubtedly related to Tang Jie as he was well aware of the context behind it. Thus, he moved forward without a hint of hesitation.
After crossing several streets and passing by a bustling night market, Tang Jie found himself on a deserted road, where even the streetlights were broken in several places.
Standing on the street, Tang Jie observed his surroundings with a cold detachment. The energy fluctuations had persisted until he arrived, but upon stepping onto this street, they suddenly stopped, replaced by a chilling wind that swept toward him.
“Friend, you’ve arrived,” a young man emerged from the darkness into the glow of the streetlight.
“Did you bring me here?” Tang Jie asked, contemplating the situation.
“It seems you’re not completely foolish. So, can you guess why I brought you here?” the young man replied with a smirk.
“Hmm? Are you planning to kill me?” Tang Jie said coldly, a powerful aura beginning to radiate from him.
“Haha, you’re becoming more likable with every moment. But soon, you’ll die at my hands,” the young man taunted.
At this, Tang Jie let out a hearty laugh, his aura intensifying even further.
“Young man, don’t get too excited. Are you really planning to make a move here?” The young man spoke with calmness, unperturbed by Tang Jie’s pressure.
Tang Jie hesitated for a moment and quickly suppressed his aura, asking, “What do you mean?”
“Hmph, the mountain behind me is a more suitable location for a kill. If you have guts, then come up with me,” the young man challenged.
Tang Jie was slightly taken aback but quickly decided to follow the young man, the rushing wind whistling past them. Before long, they found themselves deep in the mountains, where they could see the entire city illuminated below.
“Are you ready?” Tang Jie asked before the young man could speak.
The young man paused, looking at Tang Jie curiously. “Why are you in such a hurry? You seem completely unafraid of me. Someone who didn’t know might think you were a master in the Heaven-Man Realm.”
“What are you talking about? What’s the Heaven-Man Realm?” Tang Jie questioned.
“You don’t know about the Heaven-Man Realm? Goodness, I’ve run into an idiot,” the young man exclaimed with a dramatic sigh, then rushed toward Tang Jie.
Tang Jie showed no sign of weakness. He glanced at the young man, without bothering to dwell on the topic of the Heaven-Man Realm, and swiftly produced his sword. With a powerful swing, Tang Jie engaged the young man directly.
“Bang!” The clash of their metal strikes did not produce the usual sounds of metal hitting metal; instead, a loud explosive sound echoed.
Tang Jie was knocked back several steps by the impact, his eyes fixated on the young man. In the dim light of night, he could barely make out the young man’s silhouette, but his face remained obscured.
From this exchange, Tang Jie felt the young man’s overwhelming strength. To win this battle, Tang Jie realized he only had one move left. With that thought, he began to gather the heaven and earth spiritual energy to form the earth-piercing needle.
“Haha, I see you’re so weak, yet you managed to kill Chen Shen. My Viper organization has lost so many masters because of you,” the young man laughed mockingly.
Upon hearing the young man’s words, Tang Jie suddenly understood-it was indeed the Viper causing trouble, which explained the young man’s formidable strength.
“Do you want to know how I killed Chen Shen?” Tang Jie ignored the young man’s taunts and slowly raised the earth-piercing needle he was forming in his hand.
