Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 63 - The Flamboyant Duel Part 2
Unexpectedly, a gun with a silencer suddenly fired a bullet, grazing Tang Jie’s palm as he was caught off guard.
Immediately after, the barrel wobbled, and several bullets rushed toward Tang Jie at a frantic pace. Realizing the danger, Tang Jie abruptly released his hand and quickly dropped to the grass below.
What he didn’t expect was that the shooter had exceptional marksmanship. Even as Tang Jie fell rapidly, the shooter did not forget to fire a few more shots on the trajectory where Tang Jie was predicted to land.
However, who was Tang Jie? An ancient martial arts master of the Innate Realm would not be afraid of bullets!
Even though he wasn’t afraid, Tang Jie wasn’t foolish enough to take the bullets head-on. He accurately tracked the bullets’ paths in flight, twisting his body mid-air and skillfully dodging several of them.
Once he landed, Tang Jie sprang up gracefully, hands on his hips, and shouted at Wang Dachao upstairs, “Hey, Young Master Wang, make sure you’re well-prepared! I’ll play with your subordinates first, then I’ll come find you!”
“Crazy!” Wang Dachao cursed, slamming the window shut.
Downstairs, over twenty people emerged from the villa. By sensing their auras, it was clear that at least ten of them were ancient martial artists. The others, though not ancient martial artists, had impressive shooting skills and agile movements, appearing to be proficient practitioners from the secular world.
“Haha, are you dogs trying to overwhelm me with numbers?” Tang Jie said coldly, eyeing the twenty or so people opposite him.
To his surprise, the group completely ignored Tang Jie’s words and raised their guns simultaneously.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” Hundreds of bullets erupted from those gun barrels. Sensing the situation, Tang Jie no longer dared to underestimate them.
If it were just a few bullets, he might let them hit him with little concern; however, hundreds of bullets were in play now.
The twenty-odd bodyguards stared at Tang Jie expressionlessly. In their eyes, Tang Jie was already a dead man, for a barrage of bullets like that would spell certain doom for even a powerful ancient martial artist of the Acquired Realm.
Moreover, some among the twenty had previously fought Tang Jie and were aware of his capabilities. Hence, they were convinced that he was destined to die.
An strange thing occurred. Tang Jie, facing over twenty opponents, was furrowing his brow as if bracing for an imminent threat. To everyone’s astonishment, the bullets flying toward him began to slow down, coming to a complete stop in mid-air as they reached him.
How was this possible?
None of the twenty-odd people could believe what they were seeing, and some were frantically changing magazines again.
Only a few of the powerful ancient martial artists at the Acquired Great Perfection Realm among them began to realize what was happening. It was obvious that only a master at the Innate Realm could perform such a feat.
As a result, several of the ancient martial artists seemed to stagger, their bodies starting to go limp as they looked in Tang Jie’s direction, their brows furrowing deeper with concern.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” Amidst their glances at one another, those who had finished firing and were reloading their weapons fired again.
Yet the result remained the same. The bullets that reached Tang Jie were stopped by a wave of distorted, invisible energy.
Seeing this, the gunmen finally seemed to accept the reality of the situation, their weapons clattering to the ground as they fell from their hands.
Tang Jie noticed this and let a slight smirk play on his lips as he reined in his aura.
“Hey, why aren’t you using your guns against me anymore?”
“Brothers, let’s all attack at once! I don’t believe he has three heads and six arms!” shouted a burly man who had tossed away his gun.
Upon hearing this, all twenty or so opponents assumed an attacking stance, revealing sharp machetes in their hands.
Tang Jie shot them a cold glance and slowly conjured a gleaming sword in his hand. The moment the sword appeared, a chilling wind swept around him. Ever since his powers had increased, he had not summoned this sword.
It seemed that as his strength grew, so did the sword’s sharpness; indeed, his assumption was correct.
With the sword in hand, Tang Jie’s expression hardened, his brows resembling frost as he looked at his opponents. His gaze was not only cold but also filled with an overwhelming sense of dark, impending doom.
Wang Dachao’s underlings, confident in their numbers and their backgrounds as practitioners, felt assured by the six or seven ancient martial arts masters among them. They believed it would be a piece of cake to deal with a minor figure like Tang Jie.
However, Tang Jie wouldn’t dare show up without having his own means of support.
“Charge, brothers!” one of Wang Dachao’s men shouted as he rushed forward, wielding his machete with a flourish that resembled a dragon dancing in the sky.
Tang Jie snorted coldly. He focused on the man and, with a swift motion, released a blast of sword qi. The moment it hit the air, it was as if that man had been plunged into a freezing chamber. Instantly, his frantic movements came to a halt.
The man hit the ground slowly, and only then did the fine traces of blood begin to appear on his body.
However, the loss of one ordinary man didn’t faze Wang Dachao’s bodyguards at all; their sole objective remained Tang Jie.
Immediately, six or seven machetes came crashing down on Tang Jie from all directions, yet he evaded them with an almost supernatural grace. Despite the seemingly inevitable onslaught, the bodyguards were left bewildered as to how he could possibly dodge all their attacks.
“Ah! I’m going to kill you!” One of them, unable to contain his fury after missing his strike, shouted angrily. The remaining bodyguards swung their machetes wildly at Tang Jie, desperate to overwhelm him.
The scene descended into chaos, with over twenty people forming two surrounding circles around Tang Jie. While it was unnecessary to have so many to encircle him, those in the outer circle were left merely spectating the inner circle’s confrontation.
Within the inner circle, six or seven men had blocked all possible escape routes for Tang Jie.
Filled with confidence, they believed they could easily defeat him this way; however, unexpected events kept occurring. Tang Jie stood his ground like a demon god, while seven or eight corpses lay strewn around him.
Seeing the situation deteriorate, the outer circle rushed in to surround Tang Jie. But the outcome was the same; ordinary people stood no chance against him, and as a result, they were swiftly eliminated, leaving only the true battle about to commence.
Tang Jie smiled at the eight individuals who were still alive. Among them, four had met him before, while the other four, based on his perception of their strength, were also at the Acquired Great Perfection level.
How great were the odds of eight Acquired Great Perfection masters facing off against an initial-level innate master?
“Heh, kid, I didn’t expect that after a few days, you’ve already become an innate master. You’re improving quickly!” A skinny man stepped forward from the group, coldly regarding Tang Jie.
Tang Jie chuckled, “Tell me, is it that I’m improving quickly, or you’re all just crawling along like snails? You might want to pick up the pace a bit.”
“You!” The skinny man’s face darkened, ready to make a move. However, a slightly sturdier man next to him gently held him back.
“Why don’t you all come at him together? That way, we can see this snail fall,” he suggested.
“You!” The skinny man, filled with impulsive rage, prepared to rush forward, but again found his arm restrained. He turned urgently to the sturdier man and asked, “Third Brother, what are you doing?”
“Fourth Brother, don’t be impulsive,” another man cautioned.
Seeing the situation unfold, Tang Jie’s smile grew even brighter, his face twisting in amusement.
“Well then, if you’re afraid, I’ll just head upstairs,” he said cheerfully, glancing toward the third floor.
“Heh, ignorant child, do you think we’re afraid of you?” the skinny man scoffed.
“Oh? If you’re not afraid, then why haven’t you made a move yet?” Tang Jie replied, puzzled.
Next to the skinny man, the one who had spoken earlier shot a glance at Tang Jie. He furrowed his brow slightly and said, “You must be Tang Jie. You may possess great abilities, but you lack basic respect. After all, we are seniors in ancient martial arts.”
“Haha, seniors, what nonsense! Anyone who stands in my way will die. If you’re afraid, just get out of my way!” Tang Jie shouted, immediately charging forward.
“Brothers, attack!” Several ancient martial artists could no longer tolerate Tang Jie’s insults and rushed toward him together.
But what effect would a sea of people have against Tang Jie?
A person who has entered the Innate Realm possesses an invisible essence that acts like a force field surrounding them. It functions as a part of the innate practitioner’s mind, intangible and without form. This essence not only enables them to control the matter within its range but also allows them to perceive everything occurring within the force field with precision.
Therefore, someone at the Innate level simply does not fear being surrounded. To defeat them, one needs to possess even greater strength.
The eight individuals were unaware of this special aspect of innate practitioners. They exchanged glances with Tang Jie and boldly chose to surround him, much like the ordinary people had done before.
“Ha ha! Ignorant fools, do you really think I fear your numbers?” Tang Jie coldly snorted, swinging his sword slightly backward to accurately deflect a machete that was aimed at him from behind.
The eight ancient martial artists were momentarily stunned.
“Hey, you on the left! Don’t you dare try anything sneaky behind my back, or I’ll be the first one to kill you,” Tang Jie warned coldly as he retracted his sword.
“No, ignore him! Just kill him!” shouted a boss-like figure among the ancient martial artists.
Tang Jie was taken aback; he didn’t expect that his warning would go utterly ignored.
However, he didn’t bother to waste any more time. After all, his plan was to defeat whoever came his way, one by one; the more, the merrier.
As all eight of them launched their attack simultaneously, the tips of their machetes were surrounded by a swirling gas. Seeing no way to evade, Tang Jie leaped up with a powerful thrust, propelling his body two meters into the air. In one smooth motion, he slashed downward, causing one person’s ear to fly off before he even landed.
“Ah!” The man who had lost his ear cried out in pain. However, in that split second of vulnerability, Tang Jie’s sword plunged coldly into his skull.
“Thud.” With a powerful kick, Tang Jie sent the lifeless body of the slain ancient martial artist flying.
“Fourth Brother… Ah!” Looking closely, it became apparent that the victim was none other than the earlier skinny man. Tang Jie had indeed fulfilled his promise by taking him out first.
