Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 54 - Poison Dart Part 1
“Stay in the car and don’t come out. Wait for the right moment to drive it away. If I can’t handle them, I’ll find a way to get to you outside,” Tang Jie said as he slowly opened the car door.
Tang Jie naturally trusted Chen Shuran’s driving skills. Although she wasn’t as confident behind the wheel as he was, her technique was still quite proficient.
Tang Jie stepped out of the car, his eyes coldly watching the two black vehicles that slowly came to a halt. He couldn’t be bothered to check what luxury brand they were; his attention was already fixed on the few figures emerging from the cars.
Seeing that all five men had gotten out, Tang Jie nodded in satisfaction. At this moment, it was clear that Chen Shuran’s plan on her end was about to unfold.
Tang Jie glanced at the men, then suddenly accelerated, crashing fiercely into one of Wang Dachao’s companions. A deep, booming sound erupted, followed by a series of ear-piercing noises.
Tang Jie staggered back a few steps, a trickle of blood escaping his mouth.
The difference in strength was too vast; from that single blow, he could determine the opponent’s power. Indeed, they were slightly stronger than him, all likely masters at the Acquired Great Perfection level.
If it had been just one of them, Tang Jie wouldn’t have worried so much. But now, he was faced with four men-what did that mean? As they say, three cobblers can outsmart Zhuge Liang1; how much worse was it when three Zhuge Liangs faced just one cobbler?
However, Tang Jie wasn’t foolish enough to confront them head-on. He glanced at Chen Shuran in the distance, who nodded in understanding, and then he dashed into the construction site like a gust of wind.
“Catch him, don’t worry about the girl!” Wang Dachao roared, and the four men quickly chased after Tang Jie.
Wang Dachao watched the direction the others were running, showing no intent to join the chase. Instead, he leisurely walked toward Chen Shuran’s car and said, “Little beauty, do you know who I am? My cousin is quite infatuated with you. How about we go see him?”
“Get lost!” Chen Shuran spat back without hesitation. Suddenly, her car revved up, preparing to drive away.
However, as Chen Shuran drove up alongside Wang Dachao’s vehicle, he abruptly crashed his car into hers. Instantly, Chen Shuran experienced a jarring impact, her car’s safety measures kicking in, but when her head hit the rapidly inflating airbag, she lost consciousness.
On the other side, Tang Jie ran for a while, noticing that the four men were closing in on him step by step. He became disinterested in running and stood his ground, waiting for them to approach.
The battle erupted in an instant, and amidst the sounds of a few muffled explosions, Tang Jie was already engaged with the two men who had charged at him earlier.
In that moment, Tang Jie struck hard, catching the two men off guard as he swiftly sliced their skin with his sword. However, he realized that he was still at a significant disadvantage in strength, and this was the best he could do.
As the two men from behind rushed forward, Tang Jie quickly retreated and continued his swift escape.
He had run too hastily before, allowing the pursuers to catch up in their eagerness, which had led to him injuring the two men by surprise. But now, he had no intention of lingering in combat.
As he glanced at Chen Shuran’s car in the distance, Tang Jie calculated the distance while running-approximately three hundred meters. He was fifty meters away from the two men who were still frantically chasing him. With that fifty-meter gap, Tang Jie was confident he could reach Chen Shuran’s car before they caught up.
He ran as fast as he could, and just moments before the two men reached him, he quickly yanked open Chen Shuran’s car door. What he saw froze him in shock; Chen Shuran was peacefully slumped over the steering wheel, fast asleep, with an airbag deployed in front of her.
Looking to the side, he caught sight of Wang Dachao inside the car, grinning wickedly at him. Anger bubbled within Tang Jie, but he ignored Wang Dachao’s smirk. He quickly repositioned the airbag and lifted Chen Shuran, placing her in the passenger seat.
As the car roared to life, the distance between Tang Jie and the pursuing men was only a few meters. Suddenly, one of them sprang up, leaping onto the roof of the car, and began frantically kicking the top with both feet.
Tang Jie frowned slightly and immediately floored the accelerator. With a loud roar, the car surged forward like a tiger unleashed.
“Come on, come on, chase him down!” He could clearly hear the voices of his pursuers and the sound of another car starting up behind him. But Tang Jie had no time to worry about anything else; he concentrated fully on the road ahead.
Suddenly, in the rearview mirror, he spotted two darts flying swiftly toward his vehicle.
“Thunk!” One of the darts struck Chen Shuran’s car with pinpoint accuracy. The dart shattered the rear window and then quickly zipped forward.
Tang Jie had no time to think about it. He noted the dart’s trajectory and confirmed that it had been blocked by the backrest of the passenger seat. Without hesitation, he continued driving.
Thanks to his exceptional driving skills and a fierce determination, he quickly left the two cars trailing far behind.
When the car finally came to a stop, Tang Jie caught sight of the Chen family villa in the distance. The tension in his heart eased at last, and he let out a long sigh as he pulled out his phone to call Uncle Zhao.
“Hello, is this Uncle Zhao? I’m at the Chen family villa. Miss Chen has run into some trouble; please come down quickly.”
“Alright, Tang, just wait a moment. I’ll be right there.”
Before long, he heard hurried footsteps coming down the stairs. With a loud bang, the door swung open, revealing four or five people inside-Uncle Zhao, Chen Jiankai, and several others Tang Jie didn’t recognize, all looking anxiously in his direction.
“Hey, Tang, what happened to Miss Chen?” They weren’t fools; the moment they saw the wrecked car, they understood there was serious trouble.
Uncle Zhao rushed down first. As he reached the car, he quickly opened the door and leaned in to check Chen Shuran’s breathing. After a moment of assessing, he noticed that her breathing was steady, and he let out a long sigh of relief.
