Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 53 - Meeting Wang Dachao for the First Time
Tang Jie always had a cheerful demeanor. When faced with Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran’s pranks, he would showcase some cleverness that allowed him to easily defuse whatever trickery the two girls concocted.
The two girls had grown tired of their antics; despite numerous attempts to team up against him, they couldn’t catch Tang Jie off guard. As a result, they decided to stop teasing him for now and instead welcomed Wang Chen into their girl squad.
After all, what could a big guy like him do in their girl squad? Tang Jie was adamant about not joining, and as a result, the two girls would occasionally playfully tug at him, leaving him in a mix of red and white embarrassment, which made him quite distressed.
Two days ago, Wang Qianya left school, and no one knew where she had gone. Her absence left a noticeable void that unsettled Tang Jie, but she had told him beforehand that she would be away for two days for personal matters.
Therefore, Tang Jie didn’t have to worry about Wang Qianya’s safety. As the deadline for his task approached, he felt a sense of relief and his mood gradually improved.
“Let’s go home together after school.”
Tang Jie held a note that Chen Shuran had passed him. After smiling, he crumpled the note into a ball and tossed it on the ground without replying to her.
Ding, ding, ding-the unbearable school bell rang, and the classroom erupted into chaos. Those who had been slumped over their desks suddenly sprang to life as if the bell had resurrected them.
Tang Jie swaggered to the front, turning back with a grin to the two girls, saying, “Hey, let’s go home together.”
He was saying this to spare Chen Shuran from awkwardness. For some reason, she had been asking him to go home with her lately, even though she always drove her car.
Tang Jie was more than happy to oblige; he could ride in a car, be in the company of a beauty, and accomplish his own task-all at once. How could he refuse?
“Stop right there, I’m talking to you; hurry up and stand still!” Just as Tang Jie, Chen Shuran, and Xiao Ran approached her car, an extremely menacing voice suddenly came from behind them.
Hearing that voice, Tang Jie frowned and thought, “Looks like the calm days are over.”
As Tang Jie turned around, he saw five unfamiliar faces, none of whom he recognized at all. It was clear that he didn’t know them, so what did this group want with the three of them?
“I say, this guy…” Tang Jie started to speak, but before he could finish, two hands suddenly grabbed him and shoved him into a car, while another person roughly pushed Chen Shuran inside as well.
Realizing the situation was dire, Tang Jie struggled to break free from the grip on his arms. He quickly ran toward the distance, throwing a punch that knocked the hand off Chen Shuran, and swiftly pulling her into the car.
At that moment, it was dismissal time, and many students recognized Chen Shuran, the school beauty. Because of her popularity, they also knew Tang Jie.
Seeing the two of them being ambushed by four people, some students watching from a distance showed expressions of smug satisfaction, enjoying the scene as if it were a show.
Once Tang Jie and Chen Shuran were inside the car, Tang Jie quickly started the engine. With a roar, the car shot off like an arrow released from a bow.
Zooming forward, Tang Jie expertly drove toward the suburb, but then he realized this was a bad idea. He quickly prepared to turn the car around; heading to the suburbs wouldn’t be wise at all, especially since he was currently alone and needed to protect Chen Shuran. Once they reached the suburbs, escaping from their pursuers would be nearly impossible.
However, just as Tang Jie was about to reverse, the car that had been following them charged forward with a loud roar. Seeing this, Tang Jie dared not linger any longer. Damaging the car wasn’t his biggest concern; the real problem was that without the car, it would be utterly impossible for the two of them to escape the pursuit.
Tang Jie assessed the situation in front of him and pressed down hard on the gas pedal, the car accelerating once again. At this point, he had no choice but to forge ahead.
Unexpectedly, the highway ahead was clogged with traffic. Tang Jie cursed loudly and quickly turned the steering wheel, veering off the highway while making a few turns.
“Tang Jie, don’t panic! I believe in your driving skills,” Chen Shuran reassured him.
“This isn’t about skill! There’s traffic ahead, and no matter how good my driving is, it won’t help!” Tang Jie felt a growing sense of urgency. He had already gauged the strength of those attackers. The moment they had gripped his arm, he sensed a powerful aura of an ancient martial artist emanating from them.
This was precisely why he hadn’t hesitated to pull Chen Shuran away and make a run for it.
“Who are they?” Once the car stabilized, Tang Jie glanced at Chen Shuran and asked.
“Well, that guy seems to be Wang Shiwen’s cousin. The others are probably just his lackeys,” Chen Shuran replied casually as she looked out at the scenery.
“Wang Shiwen again. I really regret not killing him that day,” Tang Jie said, gripping the steering wheel tightly and twisting his face in frustration.
Chen Shuran turned to Wang Chen beside her and spoke softly, “His cousin is even more difficult to deal with. The influence of his family is the sum of the Chen family and the Wang Shiwen family, so they’re not to be underestimated!”
“Then I say we just take him out. Let’s see if he dares to come after us again,” Tang Jie declared. With that, he abruptly turned the steering wheel. Chen Shuran, sitting beside him, didn’t have time to react and bumped her head against the window.
“Ouch! Can’t you at least give me a heads-up when you make such sharp turns?” she complained.
“Not enough time,” Tang Jie said, glancing in the rearview mirror at the two cars closing in behind them.
“What?” Chen Shuran looked back as well and saw Wang Dachao, who had been driving one car, suddenly joined by another car pursuing them. One was coming off the highway, while the other was approaching from another part of the city. The two cars had effectively boxed Chen Shuran’s car in, which was why Tang Jie had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming vehicle.
At that moment, Tang Jie found himself on a winding road he recognized; it was the same road he had taken to the old construction site twice before. Unexpectedly, he found himself back here again.
This wasn’t really his fault, though. The city Tang Jie lived in was still developing, and many factories were just being built, with very few areas abandoned. Therefore, it made sense for him to end up in this location again.
The car sped down the bumpy road, with the two pursuing vehicles relentlessly following close behind. It wasn’t until they reached the open area at the construction site that Tang Jie finally slammed on the brakes.
