Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 52 - Fierce Battle Part 2
Tang Jie swiftly moved behind the black-clad man, coldly gazing at his back as his sword sliced through the air like a hurricane, heading straight for him.
“Clang!” To Tang Jie’s surprise, the black-clad man was able to counter his sneak attack without flinching.
Naturally, this must be the strongest among the three black-clad men, Tang Jie thought, a hint of caution appearing on his face.
“You thief in black, are you brave enough to take off your cloak?” Tang Jie deliberately provoked the black-clad man, his sword already aimed at a vital point.
The black-clad man swung his sword and glanced back and forth between the two, then suddenly shifted to the side, saying, “Hmph, a thief? Today, I am going to kill you openly.”
“Haha.” Tang Jie let out a cold laugh, and once again, his sword swept towards the black-clad man like a fierce wind. Wang Qianya, understanding the signal, glanced at Tang Jie’s movements and charged at the black-clad man as well.
The two executed their attacks in perfect sync, striking at the black-clad man in unison. With no room to evade, the black-clad man had no choice but to block with his sword while trying to shift his body aside.
Tang Jie scoffed; with that strike, he could see the full extent of the black-clad man’s abilities. In his eyes, the man was not as strong as he had imagined; his skills were merely average.
Not wanting to waste any more time, Tang Jie intensified his assault, and under their relentless attacks, the black-clad man finally lost an arm when he was unable to dodge.
The black-clad man howled in pain and fury, turning to flee without a backward glance. Seeing this, Tang Jie had no intention of pursuing further; instead, he turned his attention to the black-clad elder lying on the ground, still alive, and shouted, “Who are you? What is your purpose?”
Tang Jie raised his sword again, ready to press for answers, but unexpectedly, Wang Qianya gently pushed him aside. She looked at Tang Jie and said, “Let me handle this.”
Wang Qianya stepped in front of the black-clad man and tore away the veil from his face. With a stoic expression, she said, “I knew it was you. Now tell me, how did you know I had left the family?”
“Hmph, we have long been aware of your Wang Family’s affairs. You might as well kill me; I won’t divulge anything.” Once the veil was removed, it revealed an aged face beneath.
The old man looked calm, observing the two with great gentleness before quietly closing his eyes.
In truth, Wang Qianya didn’t expect to get much from him. Seeing the old man’s tranquil demeanor, she even felt a twinge of wanting to let him go.
Seeing Wang Qianya hesitate, Tang Jie gently pushed her aside, saying, “Let me handle this. I know girls don’t handle blood well.”
With that, Tang Jie swung his sword, piercing the old man’s heart. This time, he refrained from stabbing the old man’s head because he didn’t want to appear excessively gruesome in front of Wang Qianya.
The two looked at the lifeless body on the ground and hurriedly left the desolate area, soon finding themselves on the bustling streets of the city center.
Tang Jie looked at the silent Wang Qianya and asked, “Miss Wang, can you explain what’s going on here?”
Wang Qianya turned to look at him and shook her head gently. “Mr. Tang, it’s not that I don’t want to tell you, but I’m afraid you might get into trouble. It’s better if you know as little as possible while you’re still an outsider.”
“Miss Wang, we’ve been fighting side by side. Do you really think I’m someone who avoids trouble?”
“That’s not what I mean,” she retorted.
Tang Jie smiled and said, “Then just tell me; I’m all ears.”
“Alright, since you’re so eager to know.” Wang Qianya paused before continuing without holding back. “The reason I ended up here is that I escaped.”
“You escaped? And you still dare to go to school?” Tang Jie exclaimed, wide-eyed.
Wang Qianya shot him an annoyed look and sighed, “Mr. Tang, can you please let me finish?”
“Fine!” Tang Jie pretended to look aggrieved, lowering his head in response, which made Wang Qianya smile gracefully.
“I am a descendant of the Wang ancient martial arts family. My parents had already arranged a brilliant future for me, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling of profound loneliness, so I escaped without hesitation,” Wang Qianya said. At that moment, Tang Jie caught a glimpse of faint sadness in her eyes.
Tang Jie nodded, choosing not to respond.
Wang Qianya continued, “After saying goodbye to my parents, I wanted to find a life that suited me, so I ended up here.”
“Haha, we really are fated to meet,” Tang Jie chuckled.
Wang Qianya shot him a glare before looking at the distant skyscrapers. “The three people who were just pursuing me are ancient martial artists from the Chen family. They are also part of a martial arts family, but they have always been enemies of ours.”
“No wonder,” Tang Jie acknowledged as he nodded in understanding.
Without realizing it, they had already arrived at the Blue Bay Apartment. Tang Jie glanced at the apartment awkwardly, debating whether to continue following Wang Qianya or not.
At that moment, Wang Qianya glanced at the street ahead and said, “I think we should part ways here. See you at school!”
“You know I live here?” Tang Jie looked at her in surprise, almost as if he were staring at a monster.
“What do you mean you live here?” Wang Qianya was confused, sizing him up as if he were also a strange creature.
Tang Jie helplessly pointed behind him with his index finger and said, “Right here, my place is just behind this building. Why don’t you come over for a visit?”
“No thanks, it’s quite late, and it wouldn’t be very convenient for me to come to your place,” Wang Qianya replied, stepping onto a bus.
Days passed, and during this time, Tang Jie and Chen Shuran enjoyed a comfortable companionship. Their relationship gradually warmed, and Chen Shuran’s previously icy demeanor softened; she would smile gently at Tang Jie.
Their blossoming bond sparked a mix of envy and jealousy among their classmates, with a range of emotions visible on their faces.
