Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 48 - The Black Iron Piece Part 1
The room echoed with the clanging sounds. Sitting on the bed, Tang Jie felt uneasy. He could only blame the fact that the old man of the house wasn’t around, otherwise, Tang Jie wouldn’t have so many worries.
“Sigh.” Tang Jie sighed heavily. He hadn’t seen the old man for over a month and missed him greatly. He also wanted the old man to guide him in channeling the heaven and earth spiritual energy within him.
Getting nowhere after a while, Tang Jie had to give up. He slowly walked outside the room, only to see that the corpse and bloodstains inside had been cleaned up completely. Uncle Zhao, somehow so swift, had even found a door repairman.
The clanging sounds came from the repairman, and by the time Tang Jie stepped out of the room, the door had already been fixed.
“Uncle Zhao, you’re really quick with this, huh?” Tang Jie said with a grin as he walked toward Uncle Zhao, who was busily directing a few workers cleaning up the place.
Uncle Zhao turned to glance at Tang Jie and quickly pulled him aside to say, “Tang, I’ve spoken to Mr. Chen about this matter. I think you should change rooms to avoid any more disturbances.”
“It’s okay, Uncle Zhao. These people don’t really pose any trouble to me.”
“Tang, please don’t refuse. Mr. Chen is very concerned about your safety, so he insists I arrange a new room for you. How about moving to the room next door?”
“Whatever you think is best, Uncle Zhao. I don’t really mind. Just give me the key now. It’s getting late, and Miss Chen is likely already at the bar,” Tang Jie said as he walked past the repairman and moved to the door.
Uncle Zhao cheerfully tossed the keys to Tang Jie, saying, “Remember not to open the wrong door when you come back.”
With that, Tang Jie had already disappeared outside the door.
He went to the Passion Bar, but the shaken Chen Shuran didn’t show up as expected. Tang Jie waited until midnight and then left without interest.
The night passed without incident, and the next day was the weekend. Tang Jie got up early, and as soon as he stepped out, he bumped into Chen Shuran hurrying towards the Blue Bay Apartment. The two exchanged glances and curiously assessed each other for a moment.
“What are you doing here?” Tang Jie asked, surprised to see Chen Shuran.
Chen Shuran smiled brightly and, looking at Tang Jie, said, “Haha, this run-down apartment is beneath me. You forget that this is a property under my Chen Group.”
“Well, indeed. Are you here to see me then?”
“Of course, why else would I come to this place if not for you?” Chen Shuran replied curtly, as if it were the most natural thing.
However, to Tang Jie, her words sounded puzzling. He looked at Chen Shuran and asked somewhat strangely, “Why are you looking for me?”
“Stop talking nonsense. I’m going to the amusement park today. Are you coming or not?”
Chen Shuran had been pampered since childhood and wasn’t used to inviting others politely. Hearing her words, Tang Jie just shook his head and chuckled, “How could I refuse when Miss Chen is inviting me?”
“In your dreams. It’s not an invitation, it’s an order.”
“What? What are you talking about?” Tang Jie was utterly baffled, his mind spinning as he wondered, “Could it be that she knows I’m her bodyguard?”
“Am I speaking in riddles? Tang Jie, did you even learn anything in your language classes? Hurry up and get ready, we’re leaving right away,” Chen Shuran said, eyeing Tang Jie and then glancing at a BMW parked in the distance.
Clearly, Chen Shuran had driven the BMW here, and as for her sports car, she probably wouldn’t use it casually.
As they were talking, a taxi came to a screeching halt nearby, and Xiao Ran’s face appeared from the cab. After paying the fare, she greeted Tang Jie with a cheerful smile.
“Hi, Tang Jie, are you ready?” Xiao Ran didn’t walk over to Tang Jie but headed straight for Chen Shuran’s BMW.
Tang Jie shook his head helplessly, glanced at Chen Shuran, and said, “Alright, let’s go now.”
“Now?” Chen Shuran curiously examined Tang Jie’s attire for a while, then covered her mouth and laughed.
Tang Jie didn’t mind her reaction. What’s wrong with wearing flip-flops and shorts to the amusement park? He didn’t believe there was anything particularly odd about his outfit.
The three of them got into the car. The BMW revved up with a deep roar, and after maneuvering a sharp turn, it took off like a pouncing leopard, accelerating quickly to top speed.
“Miss, are you planning on racing the car?” Tang Jie asked helplessly, not having much confidence in Chen Shuran’s driving skills.
Chen Shuran shot Tang Jie a glance, then focused back on the road ahead and said, “What do you think? The amusement park isn’t in the city; it takes two hours to drive there.”
“That far?” Tang Jie was momentarily taken aback, not knowing much about what was in and around the city. But hearing Chen Shuran speak so seriously, he decided not to respond further.
The car sped along the road, and what should have been a two-hour drive ended up taking just a little over an hour.
Tang Jie, lost in thought as he watched the passing scenery, was surprised when the landscape suddenly changed from a calm, peaceful road to a bustling sea of people.
“Hey, what are you thinking about? We’re here,” Xiao Ran said, giving Tang Jie a light pat.
Chen Shuran, also regarding Tang Jie with a similar look, stepped out of the car and said, “Tang Jie, Mr. Tang, time is short, so stop dawdling.”
