- Chapter 35 - Singing Conquest in Guanjian Street Part 2
The incident with Wei Dong caused only a small stir on Guanjian Street, and people quickly forgot about it.
A red Maserati quietly left Guanjian Street. Once it entered the downtown area, Chen Shuran slowed down considerably.
“Where do you want to go?” In the car, Chen Shuran asked Tang Jie, turning her head slightly.
Tang Jie was taken aback by her question, then looked at Chen Shuran with a resentful gaze and said, “Weren’t we waiting for your plans? Have you forgotten what you promised me back at school? Or… are you planning to go back on your word and abandon me? If that’s the case, then I suppose I have no choice but to accept it.”
“Pfft!” Chen Shuran laughed softly and said, “Am I that kind of person? It’s just a meal, I’ll treat you!”
With that, she turned the car around, took a corner, and accelerated.
Familiar with the route, they arrived at a hotel. After parking, Chen Shuran and Tang Jie slowly stepped out of the car.
“Are you satisfied with this three-star Junhao Hotel?” From the outside, the crystal chandeliers illuminated the entire lobby, making the name ‘Junhao Hotel’ stand out prominently. Just from the lobby alone, one could feel the hotel’s distinctiveness.
“Satisfied! It’s just a meal, it doesn’t really matter where we eat.” As Tang Jie spoke, he had already started walking towards the Junhao Hotel.
“Hypocrite,” Chen Shuran teased, following Tang Jie inside.
…………
Across from the Junhao Hotel, in an opposing building, a man stood by the window. He set down the binoculars he was holding and took out his phone to dial a number.
“Hello, Mr. Wang, the person who attacked the young master is with Chen Shuran, the heiress of the Chen Group. What should we do now?” The caller was Wang Guohao’s close associate, Xiao Wei.
“Chen Shuran?” Wang Guohao frowned, pondered for a moment, and then slowly said, “Keep monitoring them, but don’t act rashly.”
“Understood!” Xiao Wei nodded in agreement and, after hanging up the phone, picked up his binoculars again to continue observing the Junhao Hotel.
At this moment, Tang Jie and Chen Shuran were already inside the Junhao Hotel. After ordering food in a private room, they began to wait.
During this time, neither of them spoke, and Chen Shuran’s eyes never left Tang Jie since they had entered and sat down.
Being stared at for so long, even Tang Jie, with his thick skin, felt a bit awkward. He finally asked, “Is there something on my face?”
“Tang Jie, who exactly are you?”
Chen Shuran’s sudden and unexpected question caught Tang Jie off guard. He looked up, meeting Chen Shuran’s gaze, and slowly said, “Miss Chen, what are you talking about?”
“I asked, who exactly are you?” Chen Shuran did not shy away from Tang Jie’s gaze, repeating her question word by word.
“I’m a student! Just an ordinary, broke student,” Tang Jie shrugged, speaking half-truthfully. He was indeed a student, and as for being broke, that was a label Wang Shiwen had placed on him initially.
“I don’t believe it!” Chen Shuran’s eyes were full of skepticism as she slowly said, “How could an ordinary student possibly race cars, and do it so well?”
If Tang Jie were just a regular student, Chen Shuran wouldn’t believe it even if she were threatened. She had a vague feeling that the new transfer student in front of her was not a simple person.
However, she couldn’t put her finger on it, so she examined Tang Jie up and down, but found nothing suspicious.
“Believe it or not,” Tang Jie said helplessly, spreading his hands without further explanation, resting his face on his hands, and murmuring, “Why is the food taking so long in this hotel? I’m starving.”
Seeing Tang Jie’s nonchalant demeanor, Chen Shuran was both irritated and helpless.
Everyone has some secrets they prefer to keep hidden, and after all, she and Tang Jie were just classmates. He had no obligation to reveal everything about himself.
Unable to get any more answers, Chen Shuran decided it wasn’t worth the effort to ask further.
The Junhao Hotel truly lived up to its three-star rating. When the table full of delicious and enticing dishes was brought out, Tang Jie’s appetite was immediately piqued.
Chen Shuran, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly impressed. Having grown up in a wealthy family, she was used to such things. Watching Tang Jie devour the sumptuous feast like a hungry wolf, she felt a bit helpless.
“No need to rush, no one’s going to take it away from you!” Chen Shuran couldn’t help but remind him after a while.
But at that moment, Tang Jie’s mouth was already stuffed with food. Hearing Chen Shuran’s reminder, he looked up, mumbled something incomprehensible, and then continued his feast.
Chen Shuran didn’t eat much from the entire table of dishes; most of it ended up being devoured by Tang Jie.
After finishing the meal, Tang Jie sat back in his chair with a satisfied look, patted his slightly full stomach, and finally said, “Eat up, why aren’t you eating?”
Hearing this, Chen Shuran felt a wave of annoyance, glanced at the nearly empty table, and said, “Now you think to invite me to eat?”
Following Chen Shuran’s gaze, Tang Jie saw that the table was almost cleared, and his face flushed with embarrassment. He gave an apologetic smile.
“Forget it, let’s go,” Chen Shuran said with a smirk, stood up, and turned to leave the private room.
After settling the bill, they both walked out of the Junhao Hotel. Once seated in the car, Chen Shuran asked, “Where do you live? I’ll drive you home.”
“I live at Blue Bay Apartment,” Tang Jie replied without hesitation.
“Blue Bay Apartment?” Chen Shuran thought the name sounded familiar. After a moment of reflection, it hit her: Blue Bay Apartment was developed by the Chen Group.
With this realization, Chen Shuran grinned slyly, deciding to check which unit Tang Jie lived in and investigate his background, considering his role as a bodyguard.
Given her status as the heiress of the Chen Group, obtaining information from its properties should be a breeze for Chen Shuran.
If Tang Jie lived there, there must be registration details. His information would be clear as day then, she mused.
With these thoughts, Chen Shuran started the car and slowly drove away from the Junhao Hotel.
However, to Chen Shuran’s surprise, when she went to the property management office at Blue Bay Apartment to check Tang Jie’s information, she found no records of him.
This unexpected result left her astonished, but that’s a story for another time.
As stars filled the sky, the bright moonlight gently spread, with a soft breeze meeting them as they drove.
