Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 29 - Chen Shuran's Invitation! Part 1
Inside a luxurious villa, a middle-aged man with a square face dressed in a black leather suit paced back and forth in the grand hall.
A ringtone sounded, and the middle-aged man pulled out his phone, pressed the answer button, suppressed the anger in his heart, and spoke in a deep voice, “Hello, how is Shiwen doing now?”
“Mr. Wang, Young Master Wang’s condition has now stabilized. After treatment, we’ve managed to reattach his leg. For a complete recovery, however, it will still take some time,” replied a young man’s voice from the other end of the phone.
“Xiao Wei, keep a close eye on the young master’s condition and report back to me promptly. Also, when the young master wakes up, ask him who was responsible for breaking his leg! How dare they mess with the Wang Family like this. I must know who it is; I certainly won’t let them off the hook!”
The speaker, it turned out, was the chairman of the Wang Group, Wang Guohao, the father of Wang Shiwen.
“Yes, Mr. Wang!”
After hanging up the phone, Wang Guohao’s expression darkened as he slowly made his way to the second floor of the villa.
“Guohao, those who wish to achieve great things must keep their composure. What do you look like right now?” In a room on the second floor, an elder with white, patchy hair sat at a desk, his aged voice ringing out.
“Dad, our Wang Family is being humiliated, and you know very well about Shiwen’s condition. His leg was broken, and he’s lying in the hospital unconscious. How can you expect me to just bear this?” It was clear that Wang Guohao was extremely protective.
Wang Guohao had yet to learn why his son’s leg was broken before vowing to find and retaliate against the perpetrator, indicating that his love for his son had clouded his judgment.
“Has the culprit who hurt Shiwen been found yet?” After a long silence, the elder slowly spoke.
“No!” Wang Guohao shook his head and said, “When Shiwen was found, he was already unconscious, lying in the hospital, and he hasn’t woken up yet to provide any information.”
“Let’s wait until Shiwen wakes up!” The elder was evidently much more composed and calm than Wang Guohao. Without clear details, he refrained from making any rash decisions.
Seeing the elder’s firm stance, Wang Guohao said nothing more, simply nodded, and spoke, “Yes!”
With that, he slowly turned around, left the room, and after closing the door behind him, Wang Guohao’s expression of calmness shifted, and the anger in his eyes reignited.
“Whoever you are, daring to harm my son, I won’t let you get away with it!”
With a cold snort, he walked downstairs and left the villa. Wang Guohao drove off in a black BMW, speeding away.
At the First People’s Hospital of G City, a young man dressed in white hospital attire was reclining on a hospital bed, with a man and a woman standing by his side.
“How are you feeling now, Haozhong?” asked a middle-aged woman standing next to the young man, her voice filled with concern.
“Mom, I’m feeling much better now!” replied Qin Haozhong, who was lying in the bed after being involved in a car accident.
“Haozhong, what happened? How could you have an accident out of nowhere?” The middle-aged man, who had been silent until then, finally spoke up slowly.
Upon hearing this, Qin Haozhong slowly explained the situation but deliberately omitted his attempt to flirt with Chen Shuran.
If the middle-aged man knew that Qin Haozhong’s accident occurred because he lingered on Guanqian Street after trying to flirt with two young girls, he probably wouldn’t wait for Qin Haozhong to be discharged before giving him a thorough scolding.
“Dad, the doctor said that if I hadn’t been rescued from the car, my legs would have definitely been ruined. Can you help me find out which school Tang Jie is from? I want to personally thank him for saving my life,” Qin Haozhong looked up at the middle-aged man and said slowly.
The middle-aged man nodded and responded, “I’ve already asked someone to look into it. The driver of the big truck that collided with your car didn’t appear afterwards?”
Qin Haozhong was momentarily startled, then shook his head and said, “No, when the ambulance arrived, they didn’t find the truck driver either.”
The middle-aged man’s expression hardened as he said sternly, “It seems this incident is not just a simple accident. Clearly, someone has deliberately targeted the Qin Family!”
“I will definitely investigate this matter to the end!” the middle-aged man said, his tone shifting. “You stay here and focus on recovering. Your mother and I have some matters to attend to, so we will leave first.”
Qin Haozhong nodded without saying much, watching as the two left the hospital room.
…
Tang Jie was unaware that his actions had alerted the chairmen of two major groups.
One was Wang Guohao, the chairman of the Wang Group, and the other was Qin Haozhong’s father, Qin Tian, the chairman of the Qin Group!
At that moment, Tang Jie was back at school with Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran, having taken a taxi there.
With no more harassment from Wang Shiwen, Tang Jie spent a leisurely afternoon.
The relationship between Tang Jie, Chen Shuran, and her close friend Xiao Ran also grew closer because of the car accident involving Qin Haozhong.
When the school bell rang in the afternoon, Tang Jie leisurely packed up his things without any rush to leave.
He was waiting for Chen Shuran to leave first. Since his duty was to protect her, he naturally couldn’t leave before her.
“Um, Tang Jie, could you do me a favor?” Chen Shuran, having approached his desk unnoticed, asked.
“What is it?” Tang Jie stopped what he was doing, looked up, and responded.
“I need you to be my companion tonight and accompany me somewhere.” Chen Shuran said with a sly smile, making her request.
“Is there anything in it for me?” Since Chen Shuran did not specify, Tang Jie did not press further, instead asking with interest.
“Isn’t the privilege of being Miss’s companion enough? Have you forgotten who you are? You’re at my beck and call,” Chen Shuran retorted, not expecting Tang Jie to be so pragmatic. Normally, many would jump at her invitation, but here she was, making the move herself, and Tang Jie was not buying it, which somewhat infuriated her. She reluctantly reminded him of his role as her bodyguard.
“That’s hardly a benefit. How about something more substantial?” Tang Jie said with a slight smile, spreading his hands in a greedy gesture.
“No benefits then, I’ll just treat you to a meal afterwards!” Chen Shuran snapped, brushing away the hands Tang Jie extended towards her.
“Deal!” Tang Jie did not push his luck. For him, the so-called benefit was just a spur-of-the-moment idea.
“Fine, meet me at Passion Bar at eight tonight!” After giving the location, Chen Shuran turned and left.
“Passion Bar,” Tang Jie murmured with a smile, picked up his black shoulder bag from beside him, and followed Chen Shuran out of the classroom.
However, Tang Jie didn’t make any overt attempt to get close to her. He kept his presence low-key, even his footsteps making no sound.
Chen Shuran seemed a bit upset today and didn’t ask him to walk with her. To avoid irritating her and inviting trouble, Tang Jie decided to keep out of her sight.
Unless Chen Shuran looked back, she wouldn’t notice someone was following her. As long as Tang Jie didn’t want to be seen, even if she deliberately looked, she would likely not find him.
