At this moment, a figure clad in a sky blue school uniform appeared on Guanqian Street. Tang Jie, with his hands casually tucked in his pockets, strolled leisurely along the street.

His reason for coming to Guanqian Street was none other than Chen Shuran. On the school playground, Tang Jie had accidentally overheard Chen Shuran and her close friend Xiao Ran talking about visiting a newly opened lingerie store here to shop for undergarments.

Originally, Tang Jie had planned to secretly follow Chen Shuran, but a delay caused by some business with Wang Shiwen held him up. After resolving the matter with Wang Shiwen, he arrived at Guanqian Street, but could not immediately locate Chen Shuran and thus wandered aimlessly.

Meanwhile, his gaze mostly lingered on the women’s lingerie shops, his keen eyes and ears not missing the sights and sounds of beauties in graceful and lively scenes.

“There she is!” As he passed a lingerie shop, the sharp-eyed Tang Jie spotted a familiar figure stepping out of the lingerie shop and quickly concealed himself.

“Shuran-Jie, why didn’t you buy more? This shop has so many styles of lingerie. If it weren’t for class, I’d stay and choose a bit longer!” Xiao Ran emerged from the lingerie store, unexpectedly holding two shopping bags, and muttered to herself.

“Let’s leave it at that, didn’t you notice the strange looks people in the shop were giving you?” Chen Shuran, on the other hand, didn’t carry any shopping bags, clearly having not purchased any lingerie.

“They can look all they want…” Xiao Ran retorted, puffing up her chest, “It’s just naked jealousy because theirs are so small.”

“Okay, okay, enough about your size! We should hurry or we’ll be late for school,” Chen Shuran cut off the topic and grabbed Xiao Ran, heading to the roadside to hail a cab.

“Definitely!” Xiao Ran giggled, walking shoulder to shoulder with Chen Shuran as they left the lingerie shop.

Chen Shuran and Xiao Ran then left Guanqian Street, unaware that a sneaky figure was quietly following them.

“Hey… beauty, where are you headed? Need a lift?”

As the two women waited for a car by the roadside, a dark blue sports car smoothly pulled up in front of them. The driver’s side window rolled down, and a young man wearing sunglasses smiled at them cheerfully.

“No thanks, your car is too small, it won’t fit us!” Xiao Ran spoke up before Chen Shuran could respond.

The young man’s dark blue sports car had only two seats, which left only one available passenger seat besides the driver’s.

“It’s okay, we can squeeze in! Look, it’s so hot today, it’s terrible to have two beauties standing here waiting for a car,” the young man said as he stepped out and took off his sunglasses, revealing a handsome and fair face-a face many young women would adore.

However, Chen Shuran was not impressed. She had seen her fair share of handsome men and tended to dislike those with exceptionally good looks.

She was surrounded by good-looking men, most of whom were well-connected playboys who lived lives of leisure. In a society where money talks, even the ugliest duckling could turn into a swan with the right amount of cash.

“Umm, you should ask her. If Shuran-Jie is okay with it, I don’t mind,” Xiao Ran said, gesturing towards Chen Shuran.

“Uh, beauty, what do you think?” the young man asked, turning to look at Chen Shuran with a gentle expression.

“No thanks!” Chen Shuran could be playful and smiling with Xiao Ran, but she was decidedly cold towards someone like the young man, who was clearly a rich second generation.

After her brief and curt reply, Chen Shuran turned away, ignoring the young man who stood there awkwardly.

“Shuran-Jie, it’s really hot today! Should we just take his ride back to school?” Xiao Ran fanned her already sweaty pink cheeks with her small hand and suggested.

“Xiao Ran!” Chen Shuran glanced at Xiao Ran and spoke sharply, “If you want to go, then go, but be careful! There are so many bad people out there, you might end up counting money for them after they’ve sold you!”

“Ah, then I better not!” Xiao Ran exclaimed, taking a step back in fright and shaking her head.

“Beauty, what do you mean by that? Do I really look like a bad guy?” The young man said, his face turning red with embarrassment.

At the same time, he felt annoyed with himself. If he had known earlier, he wouldn’t have stopped to chat up these two beauties. Not only did he fail to make a good impression, but he also ended up causing a scene.

“Sorry, but if you don’t mind, please leave us alone. We’re waiting for a ride back to school,” Chen Shuran said without offering an explanation, politely refusing the young man’s offer and ignoring him thereafter.

Before the young man could reply, a voice came from behind them.

“Chen Shuran?”

Tang Jie, dressed in a sky blue school uniform, walked up from behind, his face filled with ‘surprise’ as he recognized Chen Shuran. “So it is you! No wonder the silhouette looked so familiar!”

“Tang Jie, what are you doing here?” Chen Shuran asked, puzzled to see him.

“I was just…,” Tang Jie caught himself just in time, “I was just hanging out here with some friends. School’s out, and I had nothing better to do, so I thought I’d take a stroll.”

After saying this, Tang Jie thought to himself, “That was close, I almost said I was following her…”

Chen Shuran nodded, not saying much. Seeing Xiao Ran about to say something, Chen Shuran quickly grabbed her by the waist.

“Ouch, Shuran-Jie, what are you doing!” Xiao Ran cried out in pain from the squeeze.

“Shut your mouth, don’t say anything stupid,” Chen Shuran cautioned her, fearing that Xiao Ran might blurt out something inappropriate in front of Tang Jie.

“Shuran-Jie, you’re bullying me!” Xiao Ran puffed up her cheeks in anger, which to others looked adorably cute.
