Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 15 - I'm Just That Arrogant!
“Tang, where are you headed?” Uncle Zhao asked in confusion as he watched Tang Jie take a series of winding turns.
“I don’t know yet. First, I’ll find a less crowded place to lure them over, and then… heh heh,” Tang Jie trailed off, letting out a mischievous chuckle instead.
After hearing this, Uncle Zhao felt goosebumps all over, unable to figure out Tang Jie’s intentions. However, from his laughter, it was clear that whatever he was up to, it probably wasn’t anything good.
“If you go around from here, about ten kilometers ahead, there’s an abandoned construction site. No one really goes there,” Uncle Zhao suggested after thinking for a moment, pointing the way for Tang Jie.
“Alright, that’s where I’ll go!” Tang Jie agreed, turning the steering wheel in the direction Uncle Zhao indicated and changing course.
“Whoosh…”
Once he confirmed the direction, Tang Jie wasted no time and accelerated towards the abandoned construction site Uncle Zhao mentioned.
The Cayenne following closely behind was not about to be left behind; as Tang Jie sped up, the skinny man quickly followed suit.
The two luxury cars chased each other away from the bustling streets, their flashy exteriors now battered from the collisions.
Onlookers expressed their astonishment but kept their distance, fearing that one of the cars might suddenly veer towards them.
However, the drivers paid no heed to this, and in a pursuit and escape, Tang Jie followed Uncle Zhao’s guidance and reached the abandoned construction site.
“Uncle Zhao, hold on tight!” Tang Jie suddenly warned, before swiftly turning the steering wheel and alternately pressing the brake and accelerator.
“Screech…”
The stretch Lincoln abruptly changed direction, the car’s rear forming a semicircular arc as it turned forward.
A beautiful drift left black tire marks recounting what had just transpired.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Uncle Zhao felt a wave of dizziness before the car came to a stop.
Tang Jie unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and stepped out, holding a small, flying dagger that seemed to have appeared in his hand out of nowhere.
“Heh heh… Had enough of the chase? Time for a break,” Tang Jie said with a playful smile as he got out of the car, glancing at the rapidly approaching black Cayenne. With a flick of his right hand, the flying dagger from his grip.
“Whoosh…”
A streak of white light shot forward, speeding like a meteor towards the black Cayenne.
“Screech…”
A piercing sound of tires skidding was followed by a dull thud.
The left tire of the black Cayenne exploded, causing the vehicle to dip suddenly and come to a halt.
“Damn, what just happened?” The skinny man driving the car had planned to slam into the Lincoln stretched across the roadside. However, before he could put this plan into action, the car was suddenly incapacitated.
“What are you staring at? Didn’t you see the tire blew? Old man Zhao has already stopped; this remote area is the perfect place to make a move!” the scarred man cursed, grabbing a dark gun from beside his seat, and stepped out of the car.
Seeing the boss get out, the skinny man hurriedly grabbed his weapon and followed suit.
“They’re here.” Tang Jie smirked, muttering to himself.
“Tang, you…” Uncle Zhao also got out of the car at this point. Seeing Tang Jie’s composed demeanor, he was momentarily speechless.
“Uncle Zhao, just watch!” Tang Jie turned and gave Uncle Zhao a faint smile.
“Old man Zhao! We meet again,” the scarred man sneered as he approached them, casting an evil grin at Uncle Zhao.
“It’s you, Viper Scar…” Uncle Zhao’s eyes widened, instinctively calling out the man’s name.
“I’m no longer with the Viper crew!” the scarred man waved a hand dismissively, smiling slightly as he spoke.
“You’re here to kill me, aren’t you?” Uncle Zhao, not responding directly, stared intently at the scarred man and spoke slowly.
“That’s right, old man Zhao. Seven years ago, you managed to slip away during that battle. I wonder if you’ll have the same luck this time,” the scarred man said while toying with the dark pistol, a mischievous smile on his lips.
Uncle Zhao’s face turned pale at these words, vividly recalling that rainy night seven years ago at Lifedeath Cliff, a fierce battle among ancient martial arts masters for a treasure in the secular world.
“Don’t push me too far. Back in my prime, I wasn’t afraid of you, and I won’t be now!” Uncle Zhao declared, his eyes full of determination. He knew that the scarred man in front of him was not someone easy to deal with.
“Hahaha…”
The scarred man suddenly burst into laughter and said, “Old man Zhao, you’re overestimating yourself. If it weren’t for interference back then, I would have taken your life at Lifedeath Cliff. I heard that your inner strength was destroyed by that senior during that fight?”
“You…” Uncle Zhao was stung by the mention of his old wound. The hatred in his eyes flared as he recalled the person who had injured him.
“Even then, I was confident I could kill you in your prime. Now, with you old and frail, I wonder how many moves you can withstand?”
“Don’t be so sure of yourself. We’ll see who’s better once we fight,” Uncle Zhao retorted, his fighting spirit undiminished despite knowing he wasn’t what he used to be.
“Good, I appreciate that about you,” the scarred man said with a slight smile. He tossed his gun to the skinny man standing beside him. “Hei Zi, I’ll distract old man Zhao, and you take care of Chen Jiankai. He’s just an ordinary person, and if you can’t handle him, there’s no point in you sticking with me.”
The skinny man straightened up, saying, “Yes, brother. I promise to complete the task.”
With that, the scarred man stopped speaking, smiling confidently as his aura intensified.
At that moment, a nonchalant voice interrupted, “Hey, hey, hey, scarred face! Are you blind? How dare you ignore my presence?”
Tang Jie’s sudden interruption caught both Uncle Zhao and the scarred man off guard. Uncle Zhao moved closer to Tang Jie and whispered, “Tang, he’s not an ordinary person. He’s a renowned master in the ancient martial arts world, and he used to be the leader of the Viper mercenaries!”
“Oh!” Tang Jie responded casually, then said slowly, “Uncle Zhao, what’s so impressive about Viper? At worst, we’ll just pull out his sting.”
