Demonic King of the Metropolis - Chapter 16 - The Killing Intent Emerges
The voice wasn’t loud, yet it reached the scarred man’s ears clearly. Enraged, he sneered at Tang Jie and said, “Young man, you must take responsibility for what you say!”
Immediately, murderous intent flared in his eyes. As a renowned expert in the ancient martial arts world, he was accustomed to being revered and respected wherever he went. Yet here, he was belittled by this young lad before him, which made him furious.
“Is there a tax for speaking now?” Tang Jie replied with bewilderment, “I didn’t even say anything!”
“You…” The scarred man snapped, transforming his single hand into a palm, and lunged toward Tang Jie with the ferocity of a wolf.
“Pathetic clown!” Tang Jie smirked with disdain as the scarred man charged at him with incredible speed.
“Tang,” Uncle Zhao warned with concern, knowing the scarred man’s capabilities and fearing Tang might not be a match for him.
But then he recalled that Tang Jie was the disciple of a certain senior, and his worry eased, realizing he had been too anxious.
The scarred man didn’t give Uncle Zhao time to think, reaching Tang Jie in the blink of an eye.
“Ha!”
“Boy, I will teach you the price of arrogance!”
Confidently, the scarred man struck with a swift palm, aiming to take down Tang Jie.
But in the next moment, he was stunned; the scene he envisioned of Tang Jie being knocked back and spitting blood did not occur.
Instead, he felt as if his hand was caught in a giant vice, unable to move, with waves of stabbing pain radiating from his palm.
“What’s happening?”
Turning his head in shock, the scarred man felt a chill spreading throughout his body.
With just one move, the scarred man realized that the young boy before him, whom he had underestimated, was indeed a deeply concealed expert.
“You’ve got guts, let go of me, and let’s have an honorable duel to the death. What does squeezing my hand mean?” the scarred man said, his eyes darting around.
“Alright!” Tang Jie smiled slightly and released the firm grip on the scarred man’s hand.
With his hand freed, the scarred man took a step back, eyeing the young man before him warily.
“What’s the matter? Didn’t you say you wanted a duel to the death?” Tang Jie said with an amused smile.
“Tch, do you take me for a fool? I know I’m not your match, why would I pick a fight I can’t win? That’s just asking for trouble.” The scarred man shook his head shamelessly.
“Uh…”
Hearing this, Uncle Zhao’s eyes widened in disbelief at the scarred man.
Not far away, the skinny man staggered and fell to the ground, stunned by his boss’s shameless admission.
“Boss, how can you be so shameless?”
The skinny man got up from the ground, shouting at the scarred man with a look of grief and anger. This was the same enigmatic boss who once appeared invincible, now resorting to such a dishonorable act when faced with an unbeatable opponent.
Earlier, he spoke of dueling to the death, but the next moment, he resorted to trickery. How was he supposed to handle this?
“Idiot, shut up, or I’ll skin you alive!” The scarred man, although unable to defeat Tang Jie, was not afraid of anyone else around.
Hearing this, the skinny man immediately shut his mouth, looking resentfully at the scarred man. Where had his mighty boss gone?
A series of big question marks swirled in the skinny man’s mind.
“Useless. Since you’re here, don’t think you can leave.” Tang Jie noticed the scarred man’s retreat, clearly intending to slip away, and smiled wickedly, moving swiftly.
Fast!!
Moving like a specter!!
A mere shadow was left where Tang Jie had stood, and the next moment, he was right in front of the scarred man, his right hand outstretched, gripping the scarred man’s throat.
“You… what do you want?”
The scarred man couldn’t react in time, caught by Tang Jie, as fear welled up from within.
“From the moment you arrived here, you lost the privilege to question what I want to do.” A glint of coldness flashed in Tang Jie’s eyes, as killing intent emerged unmistakably.
“Crack…”
The sound of breaking bones echoed, and the scarred man’s eyes rolled back, his head tilting slowly, still carrying a hint of unwillingness in his gaze.
After snapping the scarred man’s neck, Tang Jie flicked his right hand, tossing the lifeless body aside, and smiled, “And now you.”
His eyes turned to the skinny man, looking utterly harmless. Had he not witnessed it firsthand, the skinny man would never believe that the cultured-looking young man before him had just killed a powerful expert.
“I… I…”
The skinny man was terrified, his legs trembling uncontrollably. Watching Tang Jie slowly approach, he wanted to retreat but found his legs wouldn’t obey.
“Please, spare me. He made me do all this.”
Faced with death, an instinctive will to survive emerged. To live, he disregarded the scarred man lying dead nearby, the boss he once revered and feared.
The skinny man tried to lay all blame on the dead scarred man, hoping the ruthless young man before him might let him off.
As Tang Jie approached, he suddenly noticed an unpleasant odor coming from the skinny man’s pants, and frowned, “What are you doing? I won’t harm you. I just want to ask you a few questions.”
“You… you ask,” the skinny man swallowed hard, his voice trembling.
“Who instructed you to do this?” Tang Jie’s previously playful expression changed abruptly, turning cold as he stared at the skinny man.
The skinny man felt as though a wolf stalking in the night had set its eyes on him, ready to tear him apart at any sudden movement.
“It was… it was the Qin Family who instructed me.” Under Tang Jie’s gaze, the skinny man stammered out the mastermind behind the assassination attempt.
“So it was the Qin Family…” Uncle Zhao, who had appeared next to Tang Jie without notice, gritted his teeth and spoke with hatred upon hearing the mastermind identified by the skinny man.
