Chapter 10
Jiang Ciyue was never actually fond of Qu Yi.
She was just a little bird he kept to amuse himself, a way to pass the time in a boring life.
The fact that Qu Yi could get under Shi Wan Ju’s skin made it all the more entertaining for him.
He allowed her to provoke Shi Wan Ju time and time again.
Seeing Wan Ju’s angry, frustrated face gave him a sense of successful revenge.
But even at his angriest, he had never wanted her dead.
He knew she couldn’t swim. How could he possibly have someone push her into the water?
That day in the hospital, he truly believed she was faking her illness.
But now, recalling her expression of utter despair when he accused her of playing the victim, a sharp, dull ache pierced his heart.
The yacht had been filled with Qu Yi’s friends. It was obvious who was responsible.
The next day, Jiang Ciyue had his assistant send them to the police station.
Those women, usually so arrogant, were terrified the moment they stepped inside the station and confessed everything quickly.
Qu Yi, oblivious, came to him to plead for them.
“Brother Ciyue, they were just trying to stand up for me because they saw how miserably I was being bullied.”
“They may have made a mistake, but ultimately, Sister Wan Ju started it. She brought this on herself.”
“Please, I’m begging you, get a lawyer and get them out. If they’re convicted of attempted murder, their lives will be ruined!”
Qu Yi didn’t know that her friends had already told the police everything, including how she had framed Shi Wan Ju.
They even revealed that it was Qu Yi who had incited them to throw Wan Ju into the sea.
Jiang Ciyue realized his mistake.
For the past two years, he had deliberately spoiled Qu Yi, using her as a tool to provoke Shi Wan Ju.
He had let his indulgence go to her head, making her think she was more than she was.
She actually dreamed of marrying him.
What a fool’s dream.
Now, just looking at Qu Yi’s face made him feel sick.
He narrowed his eyes, his voice dangerously low. “Since you feel so sorry for them, how about I send you to join them in jail? Would you like that?”
Qu Yi was horrified. Her eyes welled with tears as she grabbed his leg, begging, “Brother Ciyue, I didn’t do anything! You can’t do this to me…”
Jiang Ciyue sneered and kicked her away. “Save it for the police.”
She had almost killed Shi Wan Ju. She had to pay the price.
Only if she went to prison would Wan Ju even consider taking back her request for a divorce.
Yes, Jiang Ciyue still didn’t want a divorce.
He couldn’t quite explain why.
Perhaps it was simply because he had grown accustomed to having her by his side.
