Chapter 4
Chapter 4
This continued until I was fourteen.
By then, my brother had graduated from university and built a successful career of his own without any help from our father. Throughout it all, he never once showed any intention of dating.
He remained stubbornly single.
He even became known to others as an untouchable “flower on a high peak,” someone far too cold and intimidating to approach.
Those words would still flicker before my eyes from time to time, reminding me of the established plotline. I grew more and more worried-was there really such a thing as destiny? My brother had no interest in anyone else because he was fated to fall only for the female lead, who would appear in the future.
My distress deepened. One day, I secretly asked one of my brother’s friends, “So many people are chasing my brother. There are beautiful girls, smart girls, calm girls… why doesn’t any of them move his heart?”
My brother’s friend burst out laughing. “Your brother? He’s just a total sis-con. He doesn’t have a romantic bone in his body.”
He continued, “Whenever we go out for drinks at night, your brother never stays for the second round. If you ask why, he says he has to go home to help you with your homework. People try to add him on WeChat, and he never accepts. Last time I sneaked a peek at his computer screen, and his pinned chats were actually your teachers!”
“On the rare weekends he’s free, we invite him out, but he always declines. Last weekend we called him, and he said he was at home covering your schoolbooks for you.”
He looked genuinely shocked. “None of us knew that your cold, cool brother actually had those kinds of domestic skills.”
I scratched my cheek, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. It was my brother calling for me.
“Time to go.”
I waved goodbye to his friend and ran over to him, hugging my backpack. “Are you finished with work, Brother?”
The time for the female lead’s appearance was drawing closer, and I was getting more nervous by the day. Fortunately, the male lead appeared before she did.
That night, I checked the bullet comments before going to sleep. I noticed they were all spamming the same thing:
[The male lead is finally making his entrance!]
[The male lead appearing now is sixteen. He’s pretty gloomy, but I can’t help it… he’s just too handsome.]
[But it was always supposed to be a romance with an older woman. The female lead is five years older than him.]
[Exactly. The male lead is a total yandere psycho; he only acts like a good boy in front of the female lead.]
[Now I suddenly understand why, even though it was love at first sight for both of them, the twenty-six-year-old Huo Silü can’t compete with the eighteen-year-old male lead two years from now.]
[How could Huo Silü ever accept that?]
[But the male lead really is crazy enough. His possessiveness is off the charts.]
[In the end, the male lead goes up against Huo Silü and even drives him to his death.]
Seeing that word-“death”-my eyes flickered, and I froze for a long time.
The next morning, the first thing I said to my brother when I woke up was that I wanted to transfer schools.
I wanted to transfer to the school where the male lead was currently a student.
