Chapter 19
The situation took a sharp turn for the worse.
The car stopped in the middle of nowhere. Under the threat of two guns, I, Gu Haochen, and Linghua were all tied up with ropes by the driver and forced into an abandoned building.
I didn’t know whether these two were after revenge or money, so I didn’t show any resistance. Gu Haochen found this utterly contemptible; he tried to push back and got punched twice for it. I told him that acting rashly now would likely provoke the criminals, and no matter how strong an Alpha’s physique was, it was still just flesh and blood-no match for a few spinning, penetrating, explosive bullets.
Linghua’s face was deathly pale, sweat pouring down nonstop.
Gu Haochen had no choice but to comfort him, saying it was just a kidnapping, and things weren’t as bad as he imagined.
We were marched up to the rooftop, the bodyguard watching us with a gun, while the driver made a phone call on the side, seemingly contacting the Gu Family old lady.
“Three hundred million, I want it in cash, unnumbered bills. Have it ready for me by three this afternoon, and don’t call the police.”
I sneered, “You probably have no idea how huge a pile three hundred million in cash is…”
Before I could finish, the bodyguard punched me in the stomach, making me double over in pain, gasping several times.
Linghua flinched in fright, his shoulders trembling. Gu Haochen frowned, shielding him as they stepped back two paces, putting some distance between us.
Bastards.
Sure enough, the person on the other end of the call must have brought up the same issue, because the driver replied viciously, “I don’t care how you plan to raise it, I need to see the money by three this afternoon.”
Who knows what else was said; after listening, the driver just said, “Fine,” and hung up.
The wind was strong on the rooftop, making it hard for me to stand. Gu Haochen shielded Linghua, far away from me, and my chest felt as if a cold wind had blown right through it-empty and desolate.
The driver began to look back and forth between me and Linghua, his expression extremely sinister and vile.
Linghua shrank back behind Gu Haochen, who puffed out his chest and asked coldly, “What do you want?”
The driver walked up, pulled out a sharp knife, and pressed it against Gu Haochen’s chest.
Gu Haochen’s face changed dramatically.
But the driver only cut the rope binding Gu Haochen.
“The old lady says there’s not enough time. She can pay two hundred million first and let two people go.” The driver looked at the suspicious Gu Haochen with ill intent and said, “Young Master Gu, you decide who gets to leave.”
