Since that phone call, I’ve checked my phone for the 38th time.
An hour has passed, and still no messages.
Yuanyuan leaned closer to me. “What? Still no reply?”
“Yeah,” I glanced at her weakly. “What do you think he means by this?”
Yuanyuan patted my shoulder. “Forget it. If this one says goodbye, let him go. The next one will be better.”
I shot her a glare.
The next second, my phone screen lit up.
Meng Ce: “Come down.”
Wearing my pajamas, I dashed downstairs. When I reached the stairway, I quickly fixed my hair a few times. Once I was sure everything was in place, I started walking slowly toward the entrance.
Meng Ce was waiting at the dormitory entrance with his hands behind his back. When he saw me come out, he greeted me with a familiar ease, “You’re here.”
I kept my head down, not daring to look at him.
“Shen Pianpian, are you an ostrich?” His voice carried a hint of laughter, his tone full of teasing.
Blushing, I lifted my head. He took a step back and pulled out eleven red roses from behind him.
“I’ve heard that every girl dreams of receiving fresh roses.”
“Every girl wants to be cherished.”
“Every girl hopes to have someone stand by her unconditionally.”
“Every girl deserves to have someone come just for her.”
“Meng Ce believes he can do all of the above for Shen Pianpian.”
“All the waiting-I’ll take care of it.”
“I wonder if you’d give me an official title to fulfill these responsibilities?”
His eyes were filled with stars.
Stars that shone for me.
