Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 33
“You obviously have feelings for him. Why won’t you say yes? What exactly are you worried about? I just don’t get it.” Yuanyuan frowned at me, her face full of exaggerated anguish.
“I just broke up two months ago. Don’t you think jumping into a new relationship so quickly is a bit much?” Besides, “I’ve only known Meng Ce for two months. We don’t know each other well enough yet. What if we’re not compatible?”
She rolled her eyes at me. “Seriously? You call that last relationship of yours a real relationship? Girl, stop overthinking! These days, people meet for a week and start dating within a month. When the feelings are there, what’s the point of overanalyzing?”
“Speaking of which, I think I saw him walking around the food street with some girl at noon today.” She leaned in sneakily. “You better think this through! Meng Ce is a total catch. If you don’t want him, there are plenty of others who’ll fight you for him. Remember how Chen Manman used to throw herself at him all the time?”
“Really?” I was skeptical. Meng Ce didn’t seem like the impatient type. But I couldn’t help asking, “What was the girl like?”
Yuanyuan gestured a semi-circle in front of her chest. “Well, big chest, slim waist, 36D.”
“Anyway, think it over!” She patted my shoulder and sauntered off to the bathroom.
Half an hour later, I was tossing and turning on my bed, the more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt.
Yuanyuan, sitting on the bunk below me, teased, “What’s wrong? Starting to feel a sense of crisis now? Getting anxious, huh?”
I poked my head halfway out. “So, what do you think I should do?”
Yuanyuan sprang up from her bed like a fish leaping out of water, her eyes gleaming. “I’ve got an idea.”
“Here’s the plan: I’ll call him and say you’re sick. If he cares about you, he’ll definitely reach out and check on you. Then you two can have a little back-and-forth, and voilà, you’re together!”
“Will that really work?” I was skeptical.
“Trust me, it’ll work. Hand me your phone.”
Yuanyuan grabbed my phone and started dialing away, even thoughtfully putting it on speaker.
The ringing lasted for three seconds before Meng Ce’s voice came through. “Hello?”
“Hey, Meng Ce.” Yuanyuan shot me a mischievous grin and then jumped a meter away. “Listen up. Shen Pianpian says she misses you, adores you, and likes you so much she can’t stand it anymore.”
I felt my blood rush straight to my head. In a flash, I dashed down to the lower bunk, snatched the phone from Gu Yuanyuan’s hand, and hung up.
I shouted, “Gu Yuanyuan, I’m going to kill you!!!”
Yuanyuan darted around the dormitory, dodging me. “We’re all adults in our twenties now. Be straightforward! If you like someone, just say it! Ah, don’t pull my hair! Shen Pianpian, I’m going to fight you!”
