Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 23
He clasped his hands behind his back, turned half his body to the side, and fixed his eyes on me, his voice serious.
I pretended not to hear clearly, “Huh?”
He put away his smile and stood where he was.
It felt like a long time passed with no one catching up. I looked back and realized I’d already walked more than twenty meters away from him.
“Shen Pianpian.”
He called out to me from where he stood. The people on the road all turned to look.
Unable to withstand the gossipy gazes of others, I jogged over, “What is it?!”
His eyes were filled with light, like stars.
The stars shone on me.
“I haven’t seen you in the library lately.”
“It feels like you’re avoiding me.”
I… of course couldn’t admit that. “No, I’ve just been a bit busy these past couple of days.”
He pressed on relentlessly, “So, do you want to go to the library together today?”
Seeing that I didn’t agree right away, he added, “At B University, you’re my only friend.”
His tone sounded a bit pitiful.
I couldn’t hold out at all, stammering, “Sure, okay.”
“Then can I treat you to lunch today? As a thank you for all the help you’ve given me.”
“I…”
“But at B University, you’re my only…”
“Yes, yes, yes!” I hurriedly cut him off, “Where do you want to eat?”
He smiled, looking pure and harmless. “Anywhere is fine, you decide.”
