Breaking Up Was a Choice I Planned All Along - Chapter 11
The department meeting was at six in the evening, and I deliberately arrived twenty minutes early.
When I got there, Zhou Jingnan was already in the meeting room. Also present were the two Deputy Ministers of the department, Li Wei and Ying Tiantian.
“Pianpian, you’re here,” Li Wei greeted me.
“Yes,” I nodded at her, then walked around to stand beside Zhou Jingnan.
“Minister Zhou, do you have a moment? I’d like to talk to you.”
Zhou Jingnan and I went into the storage room next to the meeting room.
“I want to quit the student union.” I lowered my head and stared at my toes, not wanting to meet his eyes.
It was very quiet around us. I heard him take a deep breath.
“Pianpian, stop making a scene. I don’t understand-why do you suddenly want to break up with me, block me for no reason, and now, out of the blue, want to quit the student union as well?”
“Weren’t we doing just fine?”
Of course, it wasn’t without reason. It’s just that I’d gathered enough disappointment to finally pull myself out early. He thought he’d hidden things from me well, but in fact, I knew everything.
Before, I pretended not to know because I still liked him; what can truly blind a woman’s eyes, after all, is love.
I took out a screenshot of a Moments post from the night of September 6th.
“Thanks to a certain Zhou for the delicious feast. I’m so lucky to have you all.”
Flowers, candlelight, steak, and a man’s hand. I knew that watch on the man’s wrist all too well-it was the one I’d bought with a whole semester’s pocket money.
“Zhou Jingnan, that day was my birthday. If only you’d handled things a little better, if only you hadn’t let me see it, I could’ve pretended not to know. But why were you so careless?”
