Chapter 4
My story with Xu Siyan began with a serendipitous blind date.
I walked into the wrong room, and he mistook me for someone else.
We sat together and started chatting.
From initial awkwardness, we gradually found ourselves more and more in sync.
We both loved Nolan’s films, and our favorite author was Yasunari Kawabata.
Even our shared interest in the seemingly dull hobby of fishing was surprisingly aligned.
Before we knew it, we had been talking for an hour.
We exchanged WeChat contacts.
It wasn’t until his actual blind date showed up that we realized we had been talking to the wrong person.
Afterwards, Xu Siyan didn’t delete my WeChat.
I kept him in my contacts as well.
We circled around and met again at another blind date.
This time, we didn’t mistake each other.
We sat face to face once more.
He smiled, “It seems we do have some fate.”
I asked him, “Did the last blind date not work out?”
He countered, “Didn’t work out for you either?”
“Finding someone who likes Nolan, Yasunari Kawabata, and fishing isn’t easy.”
He chuckled, “So, would you like to give it a try with me?”
With those light words, he carved deeply into my heart, marking the beginning of our three-year romance.
