Chapter 15
Another month passed.
I went to the C City courthouse for a hearing and ran into my college classmate, Chen Xu.
He said to me, “Shen Shuyue, long time no see.”
Coincidentally, he was the opposing lawyer.
The hearing was held in a very small room.
The plaintiff’s and defendant’s tables were almost touching.
Chen Xu whispered to me, complaining:
“At this distance, you could reach out and start a fight.”
And his words turned out to be prophetic.
During the hearing, the defendant lunged at the plaintiff, and they started fighting.
In the chaos, the defendant nearly injured me.
Fortunately, Chen Xu was quick to react and restrained the defendant.
After it ended, both of us, as the lawyers from opposing sides, received a scolding from the judge.
He sighed deeply:
“Sins of the past life, studying law in this one.”
I followed behind him, unable to hold back my laughter.
He stopped in his tracks and turned to look at me.
“Shen Shuyue, you won’t cry anymore when you see my back now, will you?”
