Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Chu Suosuo had never met someone so stubborn.
He was so young, yet so obstinate that no amount of persuasion could move him. A win-win partnership was such a good thing, yet he was actually unwilling.
Before the security guards could come to escort her out, Chu Suosuo left in a huff. The moment she stepped out of the auction house’s main doors, she pulled her phone out of her bag and impatiently called Di E.
As soon as the call connected, she began to complain. “Grandmother, your idea didn’t work. Gu Jinyao kicked me out. He’s such a hateful person; the things he said were incredibly nasty.”
Di E frowned. “What did he say?”
“He said I have poor character, that I’m only there for the good times and not the bad, so he doesn’t want to work with me. Tell me, how can a grown man say such things to a woman? He doesn’t have a shred of gallantry. I’m so furious!”
Di E fell into thought for a moment before saying, “I clearly saw a special look in his eyes when he looked at Su Hua. Could my eyes have been playing tricks on me?”
“Forget it, I’ll just have to think of another way. No matter what, I must defeat Su Hua! Even if I can’t get back together with Beixian, I’m going to tear them apart! I have to vent this frustration!”
Di E replied, “Alright, I’ll think of something else for you. Anyone who dares to bully my precious granddaughter is making an enemy of me.”
Chu Suosuo acted spoiled. “Grandmother, you’re the best! Love you!”
Di E laughed. “You’re my only precious granddaughter. If I don’t dote on you, who would I dote on?”
“Only you are good to me, Grandmother. My grandfather has already been bewitched by that Su Hua.”
“I’ll find an opportunity to have a good talk with him later.”
“Thank you, Grandmother!”
On the weekend, Gu Beixian took Su Hua to the Jingdu Grand Hotel.
There was an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool here. He wanted to teach her how to swim to ensure she wouldn’t be caught off guard if something like the previous incident happened again.
The two of them changed clothes and arrived at the poolside.
Su Hua wore a relatively conservative sky-blue one-piece swimsuit. The color, as clear as the sky, made her skin look bright and radiant, giving her a fresh and clean aura. Her proportions were excellent, with a slender waist and long legs. Standing by the clear pool water, she looked ethereal and refined.
Gu Beixian wore a pair of tight black swim trunks. His abdominal muscles were well-defined, and his long legs were firm and powerful. His skin was cold and white like jade, and there was a sophisticated, textured sensuality flowing in his veins. Just by standing there, the world seemed to go still.
Su Hua couldn’t help but steal glances at him.
Even though they had been married for three years, seeing him dressed like this still made her heart race and her cheeks flush. The man she loved was breathtakingly sexy.
Su Hua leaned a little closer to him, lightly brushing her finger against his. “Coach Gu, please begin.”
Gu Beixian took a step back, putting on airs. He looked down at her with a serious expression. “Kid, so you want to learn how to swim?”
Su Hua paused, the smile on her face stiffening. “I want to learn. But I don’t really like the name ‘kid.'”
Gu Beixian tilted his chin up slightly. “This is a coach’s catchphrase. Every coach starts their opening remarks like this. Be serious.”
Su Hua felt like rolling her eyes at him. She had called him “Coach Gu” once, and he was already acting the part, putting on the airs of an instructor. Look at how capable he thought he was.
Gu Beixian solemnly taught her some swimming theory. He spoke as if he were a professional, but in reality, he had just looked most of it up on Baidu on the way there, cramming at the last minute. However, it was enough to fool Su Hua.
After the lecture, he taught her some warm-up exercises.
Once they were warmed up, he asked expressionlessly, “There are slow ways to learn swimming, fast ways, and extra-fast ways. Which one do you want to learn?”
Without thinking, Su Hua said, “The extra-fast one, of course.”
Gu Beixian arched an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
“No regrets?”
Su Hua wondered why there was so much nonsense involved in learning to swim. “No regrets. Hurry up and start.”
“As long as you don’t regret it. Jump.”
“Huh? I don’t know how to swim yet, how can I jump?”
“Jump,” he commanded, closing in on her.
He towered over her, his presence far too overbearing. Su Hua felt inexplicably intimidated. Her foot slipped, and with a splash, she fell into the pool.
Caught off guard, she swallowed several mouthfuls of water. She flailed her limbs, instinctively struggling in the water. Only then did she realize why he had asked all those nonsensical questions. This “extra-fast way” was apparently just stimulating a person’s survival instinct.
Death before rebirth.
It was all too sudden.
However, driven by survival instinct, Su Hua quickly found a way to balance her body. After swallowing a few mouthfuls of pool water, she managed to steady herself.
It happened remarkably fast.
But it was also grueling. Those few gulps of water really didn’t taste good.
Gu Beixian had jumped into the water after her, standing guard nearby in case of an emergency. Once she found her balance, he began to refine her movements.
One moment, he was holding her hand, teaching her how to hold her breath, inhale, and exhale, and showing her how to swing her arms. The next, he was grabbing her feet, guiding her on how to kick. Then he would adjust the angle of her calves.
He wrapped himself around her from behind, gripping her wrists to teach her the correct swimming strokes. He even sank into a horse stance, letting Su Hua sit on his thighs to practice her paddling.
With his hands-on teaching, he actually looked the part of a proper instructor.
By the end of the morning, Su Hua was exhausted, but fortunately, she had finally learned how to swim. At the very least, she now had the ability to save herself.
Su Hua decided she would swim all summer. If she ever encountered a situation like the one at the Hua Mansion again, she was going to crush Chu Suosuo. She could lose to anyone, but she absolutely could not lose to her.
They climbed out of the pool, showered in the bathroom, and went into the dressing room to change.
Gu Beixian pinched her earlobe and asked, “What do you want to eat? I’ll take you.”
Learning to swim was physically demanding. Su Hua was already famished. She tilted her chin up to look at him and asked, “Can I eat anything I want?”
Gu Beixian stroked her head. “Yes. Aside from dragon meat from the heavens, I’ll agree to whatever you want to eat-even if you want to eat me.”
Su Hua burst out laughing. “President Gu, could you please not make dirty jokes every chance you get?”
Gu Beixian’s eyes cooled slightly. “I’m being very serious.”
Su Hua’s smile widened. “I know, you’re being very serious about making dirty jokes.”
Gu Beixian chuckled. “Stop being cheeky. Just tell me what you want to eat.”
Su Hua thought for a moment. “Suddenly, I really want the big pork buns with shepherd’s purse filling that my grandmother used to steam.”
“That’s a bit difficult. Your grandmother passed away long ago; it wouldn’t be right to disturb her spirit. What else do you want? Pick something else.”
“Teppanyaki squid, roasted lamb skewers, and malatang.”
Gu Beixian frowned. “Unsanitary. Change it.”
“Then the shepherd’s purse pork buns Grandma used to make.”
Gu Beixian rubbed her head. “I see what you’re doing. You just want the teppanyaki squid. You were afraid I wouldn’t agree, so you intentionally brought up your grandmother’s buns as a shield, didn’t you?”
Su Hua was perfectly honest. “Congratulations, President Gu. You got it right.”
Gu Beixian was helpless against her. “Let’s go, then.”
He took her hand and led her out. The two of them got into the car.
Su Hua said, “I want to eat from that shop near my university.”
“Fine, I’ll indulge you.”
The driver, Ah Hong, started the car.
They arrived at the snack street behind Jingdu University and found the shop Su Hua used to frequent during her school days.
Gu Beixian bought her two skewers of teppanyaki squid. The driver went to get her fried skewers and malatang.
The two of them were dressed impeccably-a handsome man and a beautiful woman with a unique aura. Gu Beixian, in particular, wearing a sharp, dark, high-end custom suit, exuded an air of nobility in every gesture. He stood out like a sore thumb in this humble snack street, drawing frequent side-glances from passersby.
Gu Beixian quietly stepped behind Su Hua, shielding her from the public’s gaze.
Su Hua picked up a skewer of squid and brought it to her mouth. But for some reason, the squid that used to make her mouth water now suddenly smelled incredibly fishy, making her stomach churn.
She covered her mouth, nearly gagging.
“Is it not fresh?” Gu Beixian took it and sniffed it. “It seems fine.”
Su Hua pursed her lips and said nothing.
The snack street that used to smell delicious now felt unbearable. A wave of nausea surged up from her stomach, making her feel miserable.
A moment later, the driver returned with the fried lamb skewers and malatang. He handed them to Su Hua and said, “Here you go, Young Mistress.”
Su Hua took them, but before she could even take a bite, she hurriedly handed them back. Covering her nose, she felt another wave of nausea.
Gu Beixian suddenly realized something. He asked, “Su Hua, did you get your period this month?”
Su Hua shook her head. “I don’t think so.”
“How many days late is it?”
Enduring the discomfort, Su Hua pulled out her phone and checked her calendar. “It seems to be over a week late.”
A flash of pleasant surprise crossed Gu Beixian’s usually calm and indifferent eyes. “Su Hua, you’re pregnant!”
