Chapter 68
Chapter 68
The more Chu Yanru thought about it, the angrier he became.
The Chu and Gu families had been business partners for decades.
This was the first time Gu Beixian had ever been so disrespectful to him. Even Gu Aoting usually showed him some professional courtesy. Yet here was Gu Beixian, a mere junior, coming to his doorstep to lecture him.
Chu Yanru’s chest burned with indignation.
He picked up his phone and dialed Hua Qirou. “Longyao Village, the guesthouse, Niu Mang-you know what happened there, don’t you?”
Hua Qirou panicked instantly.
It took several seconds before she could force herself to calm down. Pretending to be unfazed, she said, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
Chu Yanru snapped impatiently, “There’s no need to play games with me!”
“I’m not playing games,” Hua Qirou feigned ignorance.
Chu Yanru cut straight to the point. “Suosuo’s left hand was crushed, her face was beaten swollen, and now she’s in a detention center. One injury after another, and it’s all because of that Su Hua. I know you’re hurting for Suosuo and want to get revenge for her, but can’t you use your brain? Do it more cleverly so people don’t figure it out!”
Hua Qirou asked nervously, “Who figured it out?”
“Who else? Gu Beixian!”
Hua Qirou finally started telling the truth. “I was clever enough. I didn’t get involved personally at all; I used someone else to do the work.”
Chu Yanru paused. “Whose hands did you use?”
Hua Qirou’s eyes darted away. “You don’t need to worry about that. Anyway, that person is very professional.”
Chu Yanru snorted in derision. “If they’re so professional, why did Gu Beixian come to my door to warn me?”
Hua Qirou thought for a moment. “He must have failed to find any evidence and came to bluff you on purpose. If he really had proof, he would have just thrown it in your face. Don’t panic. As long as we stick to our story and deny everything, there’s nothing he can do to us.”
Chu Yanru gave a grunt of acknowledgment and instructed, “Clean up your mess. Don’t let this affect the business between the Chu Family and the Gu Family.”
“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”
At the same time.
Gu Beixian walked out of the Chu Group headquarters.
He got into his car, picked up his phone, and called his assistant. “How many days will Chu Suosuo be detained?”
The assistant replied, “I’ve spoken with the bureau chief. She can be held for half a month at most. The Chu family also reached out to people; normally, they could have just paid bail, so holding her for half a month is already showing us a lot of respect.”
Gu Beixian hummed softly in response. “Find a couple of thugs to give Hua Qirou a proper ‘reception.'”
His voice was lazy and nonchalant. His tone wasn’t heavy, yet it carried an underlying edge of ruthlessness.
The assistant was startled. “Was the Niu Mang case really Mrs. Chu’s doing?”
Gu Beixian’s eyes turned cold. “I can’t think of anyone else besides that couple. Teach her a lesson first, and we’ll talk later.”
The assistant paused. “Understood. I’ll find someone to do it right away.”
Gu Beixian raised a hand to rub his brow, his tone indifferent. “Disguise it as a robbery, then make it look like they were tempted by her looks. Do it skillfully. Don’t leave any evidence, understand?”
“Understood, President Gu.”
Three days later.
At eight o’clock in the evening.
Hua Qirou drove her car surreptitiously to a residential complex in the west of the city.
After parking, she moved to the back seat.
She pulled a rose-red trench coat from her bag and put it on, donned a pair of oversized black sunglasses, let down her styled hair, and changed into high heels.
She took a mirror from her bag and checked her reflection. Feeling confident that no one would recognize her, she pushed open the car door and stepped out.
Before leaving the car, she didn’t forget to cover her license plate.
Once her disguise was complete, she walked into the complex with practiced ease.
She arrived at Building 3, 33rd floor, Unit 3303.
Taking a key from her bag, she opened the door and stepped inside.
She had bought this apartment under her mother’s name, and it usually sat empty. She only came here when she had certain… needs.
The vast living room was almost devoid of furniture. On the purple-gray carpet, there was only a low coffee table and a few cushions.
A large bouquet of dried flowers-dried roses and lotus pods-sat in a white porcelain vase on the balcony.
She kicked off her heels, walked over to sit on the carpet, and took out a lipstick and mirror to touch up her makeup.
Before long, there was a knock at the door.
Hua Qirou slipped back into her heels and walked to the door with a swaying, seductive gait. She had given birth young and was only in her early forties this year.
She took good care of herself, and one could easily believe she was only in her thirties.
Combined with her fox-like eyes and the way she looked at people-flirtatious and suggestive-she was exactly the type that appealed to middle-aged and older men.
The door opened.
A man in his forties stood outside. He wore deep blue casual wear and a mask over his face.
The man entered.
He removed his mask, revealing a reasonably handsome face with a rectangular jawline and a clean-shaven chin that showed a hint of dark stubble.
This was Hua Qirou’s lover, Suo Ren.
He was also the “professional” she had mentioned.
Hua Qirou pressed herself against him, wrapping her arms around his waist. In a cloyingly sweet voice, she said, “Gu Beixian guessed it was either me or my husband. He even went to my husband’s company a few days ago to bluff him. Darling, have you taken care of everything?”
Suo Ren closed the door and gave her a quick peck on the lips. “You can trust me to handle things.”
“Then when can Suosuo be released? That child has been pampered since she was little; she’s never suffered a day in her life. My heart just breaks thinking about her being in detention.”
“Don’t be in such a hurry.” Suo Ren pushed her, his hands wandering over her as he led her toward the balcony.
Hua Qirou stayed his restless hands and pouted. “How can I not be in a hurry? She’s my daughter.”
Suo Ren said, “I’ve pulled some strings, but the higher-ups are keeping a tight lid on things. She’ll be out in fifteen days at most. Don’t worry, it’s just detention. With me looking out for her, she’ll be fine.”
“You must make sure Suosuo is well taken care of. Don’t let anyone bully her.”
“Of course. I love Suosuo like she’s my own daughter.” Suo Ren gave her backside a playful, suggestive pinch.
Hua Qirou shot him a flirtatious look. “That’s more like it.”
The two of them reached the floor-to-ceiling window.
A thick wool rug was spread across the floor, with a few colorful throw pillows scattered about. Suo Ren reached out and pulled the thin white sheer curtains shut.
He pinned Hua Qirou against the glass.
He stripped off her rose-red trench coat and expertly lifted the hem of her skirt…
Forty minutes later.
Hua Qirou lay flushed in Suo Ren’s arms, her fingers tracing his thigh as she gasped for air.
Suo Ren pinched her waist playfully and asked, “Am I better, or is your husband?”
Hua Qirou rolled her eyes at him. “You, of course. You’re a full ten years younger than him.”
“True. A woman as wild and hungry as you-how could that old man ever satisfy you? I’ll have to come by and feed you more often.” He leaned in, nuzzling her neck.
Hua Qirou shook with laughter from the tickling, pushing him away with a coy protest. “You’re terrible. So tell me, who’s better-me or your wife?”
“You, obviously. My wife is like a block of wood. No matter what I do, she doesn’t make a sound.”
Hua Qirou arched a suggestive eyebrow. “And me?”
Suo Ren gave a wicked grin. “You’re a little vixen. Naughty, wild, and wicked.”
“Why, you! See if I don’t beat you to death!”
Hua Qirou knit her brows and reached out to pinch him.
Suo Ren dodged left and right, laughing as he caught her hands. “I meant it as a compliment. In other words, you’re enchanting and full of charm.”
Hua Qirou gave him a look. “Now that’s what I like to hear.”
The two lay on the soft carpet, laughing and playing.
Once they had rested enough, they went at it again.
It wasn’t until Suo Ren was panting with exhaustion that Hua Qirou finally let him off, satisfied.
They cleaned up, dressed, and left.
After she was gone, Suo Ren rested for a full half-hour before he had the strength to walk out.
Upon leaving the residential complex, Hua Qirou didn’t go straight home.
She went to her usual beauty salon for a facial, a massage, and an oil treatment. This was the excuse she had used to get out tonight; if she didn’t actually do it, she might get caught.
By the time the full treatment was finished, it was nearly eleven o’clock.
Hua Qirou drove back, seemingly in a very good mood.
Nourished by both a man and high-end imported cosmetics, her body felt rejuvenated and fragrant. Her face was glowing and supple, and her eyes were soft and alluring-the look of a woman who had just indulged in a physical affair.
Hua Qirou hummed a little tune as she gripped the steering wheel, feeling utterly content.
As she passed through the sparsely populated Binjiang Avenue, a battered van suddenly overtook her from behind.
It swerved in front of her car and slammed on the brakes just thirty or forty meters ahead!
