Chapter 18
In the afternoon, I packed my things and boarded a flight to Germany.
In Fu Shen’s eyes, I seemed to be throwing a tantrum.
He never understood me.
Once I make a decision, I never look back.
After landing in Germany, the first thing I did was change my SIM card.
Except for my parents and a few close friends, I almost cut off contact with everyone back home.
I devoted myself entirely to Professor Li’s experiment.
Until today, two years later, when my team and I were ready to return home with our latest research findings.
Before returning, I had a phone call with Mo Shu.
“Actually, there’s something I’ve never told you. Six months after you left, Fu Shen came looking for me.”
I replied indifferently, “So what?”
“In order to find out where you were, he knelt down in the company lobby. It scared me so much that I immediately called the police to have him taken away.”
I raised an eyebrow, “That crazy?”
Hearing about Fu Shen again now, I felt calm, as if listening to gossip about a stranger.
“Right? I thought it was crazy too. Now he regrets it, but it’s too late for that cheating scumbag.”
“Let’s not talk about him. But I’m surprised you haven’t reached out to me all these years.”
“People always say the best way to forget a relationship is to dive into a new one, right?”
I laughed, “You can’t rely on others for that, only yourself.”
The most profound lesson Fu Shen taught me was that a man’s sincerity is the least reliable thing.
In reality, no one can save or heal your pain.
What I’ve lost, I can only find on my own.
If you really choose to be with someone else just to forget someone, it’s unfair to the new person.
