- Chapter 51 - Call Your Lover and Have Him Come Over Immediately.
The young nurse instantly understood the implication of my words, pulled the curtain beside the examination bed, and then turned to leave the emergency room.
After the nurse left, the doctor continued to ask, “Pain in the rear? What kind of pain? Do you have a history of hemorrhoids?”
I panted heavily, shaking my head, unsure how to explain to the doctor. I trembled as I said, “I think… it’s bleeding down there.”
Upon hearing this, the doctor frowned immediately, stood up, and helped me towards the examination bed. The bed was quite high, and as I lifted my leg, I gasped sharply, almost fainting from the pain, but with the doctor’s assistance, I managed to climb onto it.
The doctor instructed me to kneel on the bed, then lifted the hem of my cosplay outfit and carefully pulled down my loose bloomers. I clenched my fists tightly, my body trembling uncontrollably, as if the doctor’s actions were about to pull my intestines out.
The doctor put on rubber gloves, and then I heard him exclaim, “What on earth… how did this happen to you!?”
“Doctor, is it… is it serious?” I turned my head and asked, my voice shaking.
Although I had already guessed what it might look like down there, the doctor’s shocked tone still made my heart race.
The doctor didn’t respond, his expression extremely serious. The unexpected pain from the examination made me scream.
The doctor frowned at my wound, then pulled my pants back up. I was sweating profusely from the pain, thinking that after taking off my pants, they were put back on within minutes-what kind of examination was this?
“Doctor, shouldn’t you stop the bleeding or something? Every time I move…” I started to say, but suddenly felt something was wrong down below.
“Stop what bleeding? You need surgery immediately!” The doctor said, returning to his desk and typing furiously on the computer, then called the young nurse back in.
I struggled to put my bloomers back on, just about to get off the bed when the doctor stopped me, “Don’t move around, do you want to risk your life?”
After hearing the doctor’s words, my mind buzzed, and I was completely stunned. Having been in the gay community for so long, even if I were foolish, I could understand the implication of the doctor’s words.
This was caused by Song Yu.
When the nurse came in, the doctor handed her the form he had prepared and said, “Get the stretcher in here. This patient needs immediate rectal mucosal ring excision surgery. I’ve already transferred the form to the Proctology Department. Just take the patient to the fourth floor.”
The nurse nodded and hurriedly left the emergency room.
Listening to all this made my heart race with fear, and I asked quietly, “Doctor… is it possible to avoid surgery?”
I had heard from others that surgery wasn’t always necessary, that some kind of wax could be used to rub it better.
The doctor looked at me with disbelief and said coldly, “Why didn’t you think of that earlier? Even if you had come to the hospital an hour earlier, you might have avoided surgery.”
“There’s already local mucosal necrosis. If you don’t remove it quickly, the decaying tissue will infect the healthy intestinal area. By then, even if you want surgery, it will be too late.”
I turned pale at his words, my heart sinking.
Faced with the doctor’s reprimand, I had no argument.
It was my own delay that led to this torment, and the mastermind behind it all was Song Yu.
He dragged me back to the restaurant to prove to Nian Hua that we were ‘innocently’ out on an errand, causing me to waste nearly two hours shuttling between the restaurant and the hospital.
The end result is that I have to sacrifice a piece of my intestine to their so-called genuine love.
How utterly ridiculous.
At that moment, two nurses wheeled a stretcher into the emergency room. With the help of the two young women and a male doctor, I managed to climb onto the stretcher.
The nurses took me to the Proctology Department on the fourth floor.
I was handed over to a female doctor in her fifties. She instructed me to remove my pants and assume the same position on the stretcher as the previous male doctor had for the examination.
I struggled to lift myself, and with her assistance, I gritted my teeth and slowly pulled down my pants, turning to kneel on the bed. Although I didn’t make a sound during the process, the bulging veins on my temples and the sweat beads on my nose revealed how much pain I was in.
As soon as my pants were halfway down, the female doctor let out a click of her tongue. I turned to look at her; her expression was tense, her brows almost knotted.
She removed my pants completely, put on gloves, and said, “I’ll clean your wound first and check if there are any internal injuries. It might hurt a bit, so bear with it.”
I clenched my fists and nodded silently.
But my resolve lasted only two seconds before the widespread sting from the hydrogen peroxide and the concentrated dull pain from the examination overwhelmed me. Despite the doctor’s gentle touch, I was drenched in cold sweat, and involuntary whimpers escaped my lips. I felt like something was terribly wrong down there, with a burning sensation around my buttocks as if they were being roasted over a fire.
The pain was simply unbearable.
After the procedure, I was completely drained, my face soaked as if washed with water, and even the heavy fabric of my cosplay costume felt damp.
Fortunately, the examination didn’t take long. The doctor removed her gloves and returned to the computer, asking about my medical history while preparing the lab tests for the surgery.
I was genuinely scared, as this was the first surgery of my life.
“Doctor, will it hurt a lot after the surgery?” I asked weakly from the stretcher.
The doctor continued typing away, the printer spitting out forms without pause, and replied without looking at me, “It won’t hurt during the surgery, but it will be painful for a while afterward.”
I pressed my lips together, repeatedly telling myself not to be afraid. It’s just a surgery; how painful could it be?
At worst, I’ll eat less and drink less after the surgery; I’ll get through it somehow.
“Do you have a history of risky sexual behavior?” the female doctor suddenly asked.
My mind went blank, unsure of how to respond.
“When I examined you earlier, I noticed not only damage around your anus but also two small lesions inside,” she stated with a clinical detachment.
I suddenly recalled a previous injury when I ended up at his villa, receiving injections and IV drips, bedridden for days.
Seeing my silence, the doctor looked up and said, “While it’s your choice how you live your life, any resulting health issues are yours to bear.” She glanced at my medical record, her tone filled with regret. “You’re only twenty, with a long future ahead. No one will be with you forever, but health problems will stick with you for life.” She sighed deeply.
Her words made my face flush with embarrassment and anger, but mostly I felt a deep sadness.
Reaching this point seemed to be due to Song Yu’s coldness, but in truth, it was my own reckless pursuit. I had no one else to blame.
Fortunately, I’m still young, with plenty of time to correct my mistakes.
Though Song Yu was my first love and forgetting him might be hard, I won’t dwell on the past forever. Just like this surgery, the pain is temporary; recovery will come.
I’m hopeful for that day.
After preparing the paperwork, the doctor said, “Have a family member pay the fees. We’ll start with the basic tests and prepare for surgery if possible.”
I hesitated, “Doctor, I came alone.”
The doctor’s eyes widened, her wrinkles smoothing out in surprise. “You came alone? That’s not acceptable. Even if it’s not a major surgery, it’s still a procedure that requires a family member’s signature.”
“Doctor, my family isn’t nearby. I can sign for myself,” I pleaded, not wanting my family to know about this.
Her expression turned serious. “That’s not up to you. It’s a necessary part of the surgical process.”
“If anything happens during or after the surgery, we need to communicate with your family. Plus, you’ll need someone to care for you post-surgery. You can’t just get up and move around on your own.”
“Before we proceed, you need to notify a family member,” she insisted firmly.
I pulled out my phone, my fingers instinctively landing on Song Yu’s number. But he was probably with Nian Hua now, too busy to care about my predicament.
I let out a shaky, self-deprecating laugh, scrolling down to the letter ‘L’, where Lu’s name appeared first.
After hesitating for a long time, I finally dialed Lu’s number.
This was the first time I had reached out to him since that incident. He had been messaging me on WeChat, but I had only replied perfunctorily, deliberately avoiding him.
Now, because of another man, I was in this situation, needing Lu to come to the hospital and sign for me. It was painfully ironic.
My heart was heavy with bitterness, and my nose stung with emotion.
Why is it that I only think of Lu in my most difficult and painful moments?
I despised myself for being this way.
Lu answered quickly, his voice tinged with excitement. “Bai Yu, you’re finally talking to me.”
I bit my lip, holding back tears. “Lu, can you come to Hai University Hospital?”
His tone immediately shifted to concern. “What happened? Are you okay?”
I sniffed, steeling myself. “I… I need a family member’s signature for a minor surgery, so…”
Without hesitation, Lu agreed. “Okay, okay, I’m on my way. Hang in there.”
