A True Heroine Needs No Man - Chapter 11
The location was shared in the group, so it was easy to find.
As Lin Lailei and I walked in, I heard someone shout, “Shen Fu is actually here!”
When I pushed open the door to the private room, Shang Luzhou was just lifting his head from Su Wanyin’s body.
His shirt was rumpled, several buttons undone.
Even his pants were hanging loosely on his hips.
He squinted, a look of sated satisfaction on his face as he sized me up.
From head to toe, his gaze was dismissive.
That kind of look, like he was appraising merchandise, was deeply unsettling.
After a long moment, as if he’d finally focused on my face, he gave a contemptuous smile.
I knew he was doing it on purpose.
I tore my eyes away and looked at Su Wanyin.
Compared to him, she was a wreck of anxiety.
She clutched at her chest, trying desperately to make herself invisible, but it was impossible.
I could see it all: the bite marks covering her skin from her neck down to her chest. It looked painful.
Her short skirt was hiked up to the tops of her thighs, a breath away from exposing her completely.
He had forced her to wear this outfit.
In the story, Shang Luzhou would repeatedly dress her in clothes like this, only to tear them off himself.
Su Wanyin’s tears, her dignity-it felt like they were being destroyed in this endless cycle.
Seeing where my gaze landed, Shang Luzhou pulled Su Wanyin closer into his arms.
He casually leaned down and kissed her on the lips.
Meeting my cold stare, he smirked.
“She tastes much better than you.”
“You, Shen Fu, are no fun. So boring.”
The room erupted in raucous laughter.
Her lipstick, a vivid red, was smeared on his mouth.
Su Wanyin’s face was deathly pale, like a fragile white flower trembling in the wind.
A pang of sympathy shot through me. I quickly took off my jacket, walked over, and draped it over her disheveled form.
She clung to it like a life raft, wrapping herself tightly.
“Thank you, thank you,” she whispered, her voice hoarse.
She must have cried herself out, with no tears left to shed.
“Are these low-life tricks the only thing you’re capable of?”
I looked at Shang Luzhou calmly.
He didn’t speak, his eyes drifting down to my waist. I was only wearing a camisole under my blazer.
“Shen Fu, are you trying to seduce me?”
“Go on, try and please me.”
He leaned back languidly, his gaze fixed on my chest, his meaning unmistakable.
I was so furious I almost laughed. I let out a cold snort.
“You’ve got a big mouth for someone with such a small dick.”
Shang Luzhou’s face twisted instantly, his expression contorting with rage. He looked like a rabid dog.
He kicked over the champagne tower on the table.
“Shen Fu, have you no shame?”
I pulled Su Wanyin up and back, away from the shattering glass.
“Lailei, take care of her for me.”
Lin Lailei nodded dazedly, as if she’d been given a sacred mission, and quickly hid Su Wanyin behind her.
I turned back to Shang Luzhou, my voice calm and steady.
“I just wanted you to understand that when you objectify women, women can do the same to you.”
“And you can’t even handle that? I haven’t even mentioned that you’re petty, vindictive, self-righteous, and a volatile psycho. No, wait, a psycho might be an improvement.”
“The fact that you were once my boyfriend isn’t because you were good enough, it’s because your ancestors got lucky. Their luck won’t last forever, but your head will always be up your own ass.”
“You think breaking glasses is impressive? Does it make you a big man?”
“Learn from me. When I encounter a disgusting toad like you, I can not only resist the urge to break glasses, but I can also calmly reason with you. Now that is impressive.”
Shang Luzhou shot to his feet, the veins in his neck bulging with rage. He stalked towards me, his face a thunderous mask.
I stepped forward to meet him, putting myself between him and Lin Lailei and Su Wanyin.
“You lay a hand on me, and that’s assault.”
“My lawyer is waiting right outside the door. And beyond that, the entire place is crawling with reporters.”
“Go on, Shang Luzhou. Try me.”
“And as for the rest of you,” I said, my voice cutting through the room, “if you just stand by and watch, I will go home and have my parents cancel every business partnership with your families. And I will make sure every one of your family heads knows exactly why.”
My words hit their mark. Shang Luzhou’s fist was clenched so tight his knuckles were white, but he didn’t move.
The peanut gallery, who had been enjoying the show, suddenly started trying to mediate.
His ten parts of fury were doused down to three.
He was not yet the Shang Luzhou from the novel, the one who would eventually swallow my family’s company and rule unchallenged.
His eyes were bloodshot, but a sliver of rationality had returned.
He turned his anger on Su Wanyin.
“Su Wanyin, who gave you permission to go over there?”
“Get back here!”
