A Tattoo That Can't Be Removed - Chapter 5
I woke up at five, just as dawn was breaking. I thought Wei Yan had gone to sleep in the guest room, but when I opened the door, I bumped into him.
Had he slept by the door all night?
“You’re up too early, sweetheart.”
He squinted at me. I wasn’t in the mood for idle chatter and stepped over him to go wash up.
He grabbed my ankle, and I lost my balance, falling into his arms.
The scent of tobacco was faint, but the warmth of his chest was overwhelming.
“Still mad, huh?”
I tried to struggle, but he wouldn’t let go. It wasn’t until I called his name that he released me.
He got up unsteadily, looking at me with downcast eyes.
Everything seemed hazy in the early morning light, his shadow enveloping me, his voice carrying a hint of rawness.
“I know you don’t want to hear about our story, but there’s no chance for us anymore,” he said.
“So don’t be afraid I’ll leave, okay?” He leaned in close, almost enveloping me in his embrace.
I admit, I softened. In the end, I let him take my hand and lead me to the bathroom, where he squeezed toothpaste onto my brush and handed it to me.
“Want me to brush for you?” he teased.
I snatched the toothbrush, and the fresh foam filled my mouth.
I looked at him in the mirror, his eyes clear and bright. He always had the youthful features of a young man, and when he noticed me watching him, he lowered his head and kissed my neck.
