Zhou Xuyan grabbed my arm, looking utterly frantic.
“Why didn’t you call me? Coming to the hospital all by yourself.”
He looked me up and down, his eyes filled with urgent concern.
It was as if, over the past ten years, his love for me had never diminished in the slightest.
My hands and feet grew cold.
It felt as though an icy chill was seeping out from the cracks in my bones.
How could Zhou Xuyan act with such heartfelt sincerity?
When he called me “honey” so tenderly.
His mistress was just in a nearby room, checking to see if she was pregnant.
Yet he could stand before me without revealing even the slightest flaw.

“I just came to visit a friend.”
He let out a long sigh of relief and pulled me into his arms. “You scared me to death.”
“Zhou Xuyan, are you really that worried about me?” I looked at him and asked softly.
“How could I not be?”
He held me so tightly, as if afraid I might disappear. “When I married you, your health was in such terrible shape.”
“I spent three years painstakingly nursing you back to health.”
“Do you have any idea how terrified I was when I saw you just now? My soul nearly left my body.”
“If anything were to happen to you, how could I go on living?”
I wanted to laugh, but my lips were stiff.
My mouth trembled uncontrollably, as if I were holding a mouthful of scalding oil.
I asked him, “Then why are you at the hospital?”
His grip on my arm tightened slightly. “Oh, I came to visit an elder. They’re hospitalized.”
But this is the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Still, I didn’t expose his lie.
