Chapter 12
Leo Archer left the next morning.
Before he left, I hesitated but couldn’t hold back:
“You shouldn’t have admitted to the reporters that you have a girlfriend. You’re still young…”
He turned his head to glance at me, “Aren’t you my girlfriend?”
“Just for fun.”
“Oh.”
He nodded indifferently,
“Then you can only have fun with me, my dear.”
“…”
A few days later, there was a grand business banquet.
As soon as I arrived, I saw Julian Thorne in the center, surrounded by a crowd of people like stars around the moon.
With Chloe Parker affectionately holding his arm.
Someone suddenly shouted, “Victoria Sterling is here.”
The originally lively atmosphere instantly cooled down.
A group of eyes fell on me in unison.
Moments later, Julian Thorne suddenly sneered:
“Realized the tricks from that night didn’t work, and now you’re chasing me here?”
Chloe Parker laughed along:
“You’re really childish. If you want to make Julian jealous, at least make it believable. Look in the mirror, someone like you, even if you threw yourself at him, no one would want you.”
I suddenly understood.
That night on the phone, Julian indeed heard my voice.
But he was very confident, thinking I was just using tricks to deliberately make him jealous.
Someone around him had released a recording from four years ago when I went to beg him to marry me.
“Julian Thorne, I’m Victoria Sterling from the Sterling Family. It’s okay if you don’t know me now, but if we get married in the future, I will help you…”
That night, he had just come out of a private club with a few brothers.
With a bit of drunkenness, he looked at me playfully,
“What can a bastard child like you help me with?”
“You might as well kneel now, say some nice words, beg me properly, maybe I’ll really agree.”
“For example… just say, you’ll be my most loyal dog.”
After a few seconds of silence, the recording clearly captured the sound of my knees hitting the ground.
“As long as Mr. Thorne is willing to marry me, I will become your most loyal… dog.”
The people beside burst into laughter:
“Damn, she really said it!!”
“A bastard girl from such a place, just dreaming of climbing up, where’s the dignity?”
Julian raised his eyebrows while holding Chloe’s hand.
His playful expression was just like four years ago,
“Using such ridiculous tricks to get my attention, you’d be better off kneeling here again.”
For a moment, almost everyone’s gaze was focused on me.
With scrutiny and disdain.
A strong sense of shame swept over me, but not far away, a girl pointed at me and exclaimed:
“Her shoes, how come they’re identical to the limited edition ones Leo Archer’s girlfriend has? Isn’t it said they’re impossible to find now?”
Julian Thorne’s face changed abruptly.
The next second, cheers suddenly erupted from the entrance.
“Leo Archer is here!”
