Chapter 7
The day after the news of my marriage to Xie Yun got out, someone smashed up my room early in the morning.
I was sitting in the courtyard eating a steamed bun when I heard someone cursing angrily.
“Zhao Yunshu! You stole your sister’s marriage, and you still have the nerve to eat breakfast here!
“Look at yourself in the mirror. How are you worthy of the Prince Heir?”
Zhao Jingcheng glared at me and sneered, “If I were you, I wouldn’t have the face to marry the Prince Heir!”
I rolled my eyes at him, too lazy to bother.
Over the years, Zhao Jingcheng has been like a firecracker, coming to explode at me from time to time. I’m used to it by now.
He’s just a mere pawn for others.
Sure enough, Zhao Mingyue arrived belatedly.
She wore a well-tailored green gauze dress, looking as fresh as a tender bud in spring.
In this bleak winter, just seeing Zhao Mingyue was enough to make one feel refreshed and at ease.
“Ah Jing, don’t make a scene,” Zhao Mingyue said softly.
Zhao Jingcheng stood beside her, aggrieved, muttering, “It’s true-Grandfather originally wanted you to be engaged to the Prince Heir. But Zhao Yunshu barged in and stole your marriage.”
Zhao Mingyue looked at me, a trace of mocking insincerity in her eyes.
She sighed, “It’s all fate, Ah Jing. Don’t quarrel with Yunshu over me anymore.”
“I don’t have a sister like her!” Zhao Jingcheng immediately glared at me as he spoke.
As if anyone would want such a foolish brother.
Speaking of this marriage, sigh, I still need to sound out Xie Yun.
The two of us getting married in such a muddled way really isn’t right.
I ignored Zhao Jingcheng and went to the neighboring courtyard to find Xie Yun.
Zhao Jingcheng followed me like a stubborn plaster, refusing to let go.
As soon as I entered Xie Yun’s courtyard and got close, I heard a familiar voice.
“Prince Heir, to tell you the truth, it was my eldest daughter, Zhao Mingyue, who was originally engaged to you.
“Yunshu, relying on her grandfather’s favor, forcibly snatched this marriage.
“Alas… there are some things I dare not hide from you, Prince Heir.
“Ten years ago, Yunshu went missing and ended up wandering outside.
“When we found her, she was already a wild girl who could barely recognize a few characters.
“After she went missing, she spent years among bandits.
“Some things, as her mother, I shouldn’t say, but…”
I kicked the door open and said expressionlessly, “But what?”
My mother fell silent.
I drawled, “You just want to say that I spent all day with a bunch of men in a bandit’s den, and that I’m no longer pure.”
