To Forgive or Not to Forgive - Chapter 12

I sipped leisurely on the afternoon tea that my colleague had bought.

A rough, low shout erupted from outside:

“Where is Wen Shuyi?

“Tell her to get out here.”

I looked up and saw a man in a black cotton jacket, a scar running across his face, gripping a thin, sharp knife that pointed straight at me.

The moment I saw a man dressed like this, my heart clenched violently, my pupils trembling with shock.

I didn’t know him.

Yet he walked straight toward me with the knife.

Seeing the blade in his hand, my coworkers all descended into chaos, fumbling to call the police in a panic.

He advanced step by step, forcing me to retreat.

My throat tightened, my voice hoarse:

“Don’t move.

“If you have something to say, say it calmly. I don’t know you.”

He roared:

“You seduced my daughter’s boyfriend, became a mistress.

“I’m going to kill you.”

I shook my head, trying to soothe his emotions:

“I don’t have a boyfriend.

“I don’t know your daughter either.”

He spun in place with the knife, shouting loudly:

“She seduced Chen Jianjin! You all know Chen Jianjin, right?

“That’s your boss.”

A colleague said:

“Calm down, there’s no way she could be with Chen Jianjin.

“Who is your daughter?”

The man shouted:

“Zhou Sining is your President Chen’s girlfriend.

“She’s been with your President Chen for eight years.

“It’s Wen Shuyi who stole my daughter’s boyfriend.”

His knife pressed against my neck, slicing a small cut, and blood began to well up, drop by drop.

With a crash, the knife fell to the ground.

The veins bulged on Chen Jianjin’s forehead. He rolled up his sleeves, two buttons undone on his shirt, the veins on his neck visibly standing out. He kicked the man hard.

The security guards hurried over.

Chen Jianjin roared:

“Hold him down.”

The man was pinned to the ground. Heart pounding, I stared at the man on the floor as he struggled and howled desperately:

“Mistress, I’ll kill you!”

My palms were slick with sweat, a chill running through my whole body.

It was the first time I had ever felt so close to death.
