The Wedding That Wasn't Mine - Chapter 24
I saw Zhou Boyu again five years later in the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department.
I was walking arm in arm with my husband.
Out of the corner of my eye, I sensed a scorching gaze following me.
I looked up, and my eyes met Zhou Boyu’s in mid-air.
He stared at me for a long time, then his gaze slowly shifted to my swollen belly.
Countless complex emotions churned in his eyes.
I pretended not to see anything and walked on.
As I passed him, I heard a familiar whisper.
“Eat well, you’re too thin.”
I subconsciously remembered posting a set of wedding photos on my WeChat Moments the day I got married.
I had already blocked Zhou Boyu by then.
But his close friend left a thought-provoking comment below:
“I hope you’re happier than I am.”
From the consulting room behind him, Ye Shiyuan’s sobs emanated.
She desperately and mournfully asked the doctor:
“Why? Why can’t I get pregnant?”
I didn’t stop, continuing towards the consulting room at the end of the corridor.
Behind me, Zhou Boyu’s extremely impatient urging faintly reached my ears:
“Stop crying, there are still so many people waiting outside.”
“Don’t waste the doctor’s time, just go home!”
When I reached the consulting room at the end, my belly suddenly fluttered.
I excitedly shared with my husband:
“Honey, the baby just kicked me!”
My husband immediately leaned down and touched my belly.
He was thrilled, his smile deepening.
“It seems our baby is very happy today!”
I looked up, smiling and nodding in agreement.
Yes, the baby was very happy.
Because at that critical decision point in life,
Mom bravely and resolutely gave up all sunk costs.
Awakening from a dream, I let go of the past.
All past beauties are not worth sacrificing the rest of my life for.
We checked out and left, yet we never lost our original intention.
