The Villainess's Maniacal Aesthetics - Chapter 3
Lu Zichen’s fingers traced my lips.
A wave of nausea washed over me. My stomach churned, and something acidic rose in my throat.
“Ningning, I can’t take it anymore… give yourself to me…” Lu Zichen’s voice was low and hoarse, thick with a suppressed desire that was clearly fueled by alcohol. His eyes were unfocused, and his gaze held a strange unfamiliarity. As he leaned in to kiss me, I pressed my hands against his chest and pushed him away with all my might.
Lu Zichen stumbled back, a flicker of confusion in his eyes, as if he couldn’t process what had just happened.
“Lu Zichen, who am I?” I asked, my voice trembling with suppressed rage as I bit back the words.
“Ningning, you’re my sweet Ningning. Jiang Huaning.”
Hearing that name, I finally broke. I started laughing, laughing so hard that tears streamed down my face.
Jiang Huaning-that’s my sister’s name.
No, to be precise, we have no blood relation. She was the daughter of our family’s maid and grew up with me. After her mother died in an accident, I felt sorry for her and begged my family to adopt her. I even gave her the name Huaning, which means “joy and peace.”
I never imagined she was the female lead of this book.
How ironic.
I remembered what happened just before I left the house today. Jiang Huaning had cheerfully handed me this white dress. Her eyes were so sincere, her smile so sweet. She really seemed like a sister who wanted nothing but the best for me.
“Sister,” she had said, “this dress is perfect for you. Brother Zichen will definitely love it.”
But now-
I looked at the torn dress on the floor and finally realized. This style, it wasn’t mine. It was Jiang Huaning’s.
All along, it was never me Lu Zichen loved. It was her.
His tenderness tonight, his urgency, his deep affection-it was all because he thought I was Jiang Huaning.
Tears streamed down my face, not from sadness, but from pure, unadulterated rage.
In a single day, I had been betrayed by the two most important people in my life.
One was the fiancé I had loved for ten years.
The other was the sister I had doted on for ten years.
