The Three Realms' Top Restaurant - chapter 14
Another half year passed, and I upgraded from a little rich woman to a full-blown tycoon. My financial power reached a level where I could rival the Suzuki Group.
As the deadline given by the System drew closer, Gray Street remained as calm as ever.
Today at E Le Me, everything was business as usual.
During this half-year period, Song Changshan still vanished whenever he had a holiday.
On the other hand, Yu Qing stopped wandering around two months ago, appearing to have lost all interest in the Cultivation World.
Occasionally, however, some extraordinary-looking cultivators would come to the shop to find her. They would immediately start apologizing and begging for mercy, bringing out piles of Heavenly Treasures for Yu Qing to accept.
Unfortunately, before they could even finish speaking, they would be swatted away by Yu Qing, whose swordsmanship was getting better by the day.
I originally thought those were people who had once hurt her, but Yu Qing claimed she wasn’t familiar with them.
Sometimes, members of the Demon Race would come looking for Song Changshan. They would arrive trembling and leave trembling.
They didn’t even eat when they came, as if they had traveled all that way specifically just to catch a glimpse of the famous Beauty Song.
I was a bit worried about Song Changshan’s personal safety; after all, I’d heard that the Demon Race were all battle-crazed lunatics.
I asked him privately, “How did you provoke so many of the Demon Race? You aren’t being bullied out there, are you?”
Song Changshan touched the white silk covering his eyes and suddenly leaned over like a delicate little bird.
“Even if they bully me, don’t I have the Shopkeeper to protect me?”
I told him to take it easy.
Ordinary members of the Demon Race were fine-that was just a matter of one strike from Yu Qing.
But if he provoked someone he shouldn’t, like that great arch-villain, the Annihilation Demon Lord, I’m afraid I’d have to prepare a few coffins in advance.
Song Changshan laughed so hard he almost shook the white silk off his eyes. It took him a while to recover before he promised me he would behave.
But a promise was just a promise. Although no more of the Demon Race came to the shop to see him, he still kept running out on his days off.
It was one thing for him to run off alone, but he even led Big Hei astray.
I don’t know what he said to Big Hei, but after a long night of talking by candlelight, Big Hei suddenly perked up and said he wanted to return to the Monster Domain for a visit.
Why on earth did a little snake with mobility issues have such a pressing reason to go out and play?
But when a child grows up and wants to go out, a parent can’t just keep holding them back. I could only ask Yu Qing to keep a close eye on him.
And so, every holiday, one person from the shop headed to the Demon Realm, while two headed to the Monster Domain.
Left behind at home, the Empty-nest Old Xie could only pitifully guard her increasingly overflowing treasury, tearfully eating three braised chicken thighs.
Sigh. Counting the days, the World-Destroying War from the original novel was about to begin.
While these last days of peace remained, I might as well eat a few more bites of my favorite foods.
*Munch, munch.*
The restaurant’s customers came from all walks of life across the Three Realms. Therefore, even though I stayed cooped up at home, I could still hear the freshest rumors from the Three Realms.
For instance, the evil deeds of the Tianshan Sword Sect had been exposed, leading to a massive internal reshuffle. The current Sect Leader of Tianshan was that very same Yun Hua Fairy from back then.
For instance, there was turmoil in the Monster Domain. The Old Monster Emperor had been murdered by his illegitimate sons working together. In the moment of crisis, when everyone thought he had been dead for a long time, the little prince Nan Puyue descended from the sky, seizing the throne of the Monster Emperor in his True Dragon Form.
World events were moving forward exactly as they had in the original novel I had read.
But the only strange thing was the Demon Realm.
A Demon Lord named Annihilation had indeed appeared in the Northern Frontier of the Demon Realm, but…
“That new Annihilation Demon Lord is dead again. That makes ten of them, doesn’t it?”
“The Demon Realm is insane. If you ask me, the title ‘Annihilation’ is just bad luck. Why do they insist on sticking with that name?”
“Don’t you guys think it’s highly likely that the person who killed all ten of these Annihilation Demon Lords is the same person?”
This part was never mentioned in the original novel at all.
According to the original plot, there was only ever one Annihilation Demon Lord from beginning to end-Cen Wujiu. In fact, by the time the male and female leads became the leaders of the Immortal and Monster Realms, the Annihilation Demon Lord should have already unified the Demon Realm.
What was happening now?
No wonder the System said there was a bug in the plot. However, if the villain was weakened, the protagonists’ chances of winning would increase. That should be a good thing.
So why exactly would this world be destroyed?
The Sword of Damocles hanging over my head felt precarious. Even though I was determined not to do the tasks, as the time drew closer, I couldn’t help but get distracted thinking about it.
When I snapped back to reality, I realized that even though today was a holiday, I wasn’t the only one in the restaurant.
While I was spacing out, Song Changshan had been sitting across from me with his chin in his hands, watching me. I didn’t know how long he had been looking.
“Why are you here?” I asked in surprise. “Not going out to play?”
It had been a long time since he stayed home on a day off.
Song Changshan gave a soft hum. “There hasn’t been much new fun to see outside lately. I’d rather stay home and watch the Shopkeeper.”
Me? “?”
Am I the “fun” now?
However, Yu Qing and Big Hei were still not home.
The world outside was already starting to get chaotic, and I was a bit worried about their safety. I asked Song Changshan if he knew specifically what they were doing.
“Saving the world, probably,” Song Changshan said very earnestly. “After all, those two look like they’re full of righteousness.”
Fine. Not only was he treating me like “fun,” he was treating me like a fool.
Saving the world was the job of the male and female leads. What did it have to do with my little shop workers?
But now that the news about the leads had been confirmed, where was the original novel’s big villain now?
It couldn’t be that he was actually killed by some righteous person falling from the sky, right…
My head is so itchy; I think I’m growing a brain.
