Chapter 195 - Eavesdropping
Although Qingyi was very skeptical in his heart, he hesitated for a few seconds and still didn’t voice his doubts. He always felt that questioning Mu Han would not only fail to elicit a definite answer but might also infuriate him, causing Mu Han to refuse to share any more gossip about Mu-Ge.
“Alright, alright, I believe you; you’re the best,” Qingyi said, clapping his hands like a little seal. “Mu Han, please continue. I want to hear more about Mu-Ge.”
Even though Qingyi seemed somewhat perfunctory, Mu Han scrutinized him but couldn’t find any fault, so he continued, “After shaving his head, Zou Mu originally intended to avoid me, but I had an urgent matter and he couldn’t evade me, thus revealing his new look to me.”
“Later, I asked Zou Mu why he had the courage to do such a thing to himself. He said someone criticized his look for not being tough enough… pfft, you can’t imagine how hilarious his expression was when he said that-both sweet and aggrieved. It really made you want to slap him.”
Mu Han’s analogy was vivid, and as Qingyi visualized it, he burst out laughing. “Hahaha… Now I really want to meet Mu-Ge and see what he looks like now.”
Shaking his head, Mu Han seemed to recall something amusing, a smile appearing in his eyes. “That might be difficult; he’s busy chasing someone and won’t be free for a while. I guess his campaign might take up to six months, and by then, we’ll know whether he’s succeeded or not.”
“However, he’ll definitely come back for the New Year. Then you can have a good chat with him.”
“Okay, I hope Mu-Ge is serious this time. I’d really like to have a sister-in-law too.” As soon as Qingyi finished talking, he caught Mu Han’s meaningful glance.
Raising an eyebrow, Qingyi returned the look with a sidelong glance, mirroring Mu Han’s expression surprisingly well. “What are you looking at me for? I’m not just talking about Mu-Ge; when are you going to bring Chu Qianqian over to be my sister-in-law?”
Mu Han was quite pleased that his younger brother believed he could bring him a sister-in-law, but as for when, he couldn’t be sure. Chu Qianqian was not a woman who could be easily won over. “What’s the rush?”
“Psh-But honestly, I think you did really well today, super charming. You’re totally on par with the usual Mu-Ge. Keep it up and you’ll succeed soon!”
“Hmm~” Mu Han smirked, his expression carrying a trace of pride. Receiving such praise made all the time he’d spent reading books on courting someone worthwhile.
In fact, ever since learning that Zou Mu had hit a wall in his pursuit and had been bluntly told that none of his methods were working, Mu Han decisively abandoned all the dating tips Zou Mu had once taught him. Instead, he turned to more reliable romance books for guidance.
When Li Yan first caught him reading those books, the man’s expression had been so amusing it was almost indescribable. Fortunately, Mu Han quickly explained his intentions, salvaging his image just in time. Not only that, but he also secured Li Yan’s wholehearted assistance.
Advice from someone with a successful proposal under his belt truly proved helpful. The moment Mu Han met her today, he’d already made some impressive progress.
Now, switching to the other side of the story.
Meanwhile, lying in bed upstairs, Chu Qianqian’s mood was far from great.
Perhaps it was her emotions affecting her, but she felt uncomfortable all over. No matter how many times she flipped and turned, none of her positions seemed right.
She rested her right hand on her forehead and stared blankly at the ceiling. After what seemed like ages, she let out a heavy sigh.
Earlier, when she’d been downstairs, Mu Han’s abrupt words had shocked her senseless. At the time, she’d simply been too flustered to think deeply about his motives. But now that she had some quiet to herself, her mind was starting to catch up.
Whether at the airport or back at the villa, Mu Han’s repeated behavior-his ambiguous comments and overly familiar actions in front of Qingyi, Xiao Liu, and even random passersby-had all pointed to one undeniable fact. He was expressing a clear possessiveness toward her and, more importantly, his intentions to pursue her.
“Ahhhhhhhh!!!”
Grabbing the blanket, Chu Qianqian pulled it over her head, as though depriving herself of oxygen might make her brain forget about Mu Han altogether. Of course, it was futile.
It didn’t take long before her disheveled head poked back out from under the covers. Sitting up in bed, Chu Qianqian leaned against the pillows and ran her hand through her hair, which was now tangled into a chaotic mess.
“When I left City B back then, didn’t we say this was done-he wasn’t interested in me,” she murmured, letting her hair cascade behind her. For a moment, she felt lost. Although she didn’t claim to know Mu Han all that well, her instincts-the kind of survival instincts animals relied on-warned her that this man wasn’t letting her off so easily.
Those words, those actions-they were signs of something that was likely to continue for a long time.
She picked up her phone and glanced at the time. It was still early, just past nine-nowhere near bedtime.
On any other day, around this time, she would’ve been downstairs chatting with Qingyi and Chu Ziyu, maybe watching TV together. But tonight, with Mu Han sitting downstairs, Chu Qianqian had absolutely no desire to go down.
And then there was Chu Ziyu…
Chu Qianqian opened her phone again and scrolled through her QQ Zone1 feed. It didn’t take long before she stumbled upon a new post: “Feeling unwell, body and mind alike…”
