Chapter 166 - Work Handover
Due to the time constraints, Qingyi and Chu Ziyu were busy studying the script every day for the next few days. For a moment, Chu Qianqian became the most leisurely person in the villa.
However, Chu Qianqian wasn’t entirely idle; she still had some things to take care of.
For instance, on the second day after Qingyi and Chu Ziyu began studying the script, Lin Jingze informed Chu Qianqian that the company had decided to completely transfer ONE from him to her.
Since this involved some contracts and documents, Chu Qianqian had to leave City B and head to the headquarters of Kunhuang Entertainment in City A.
After getting off the plane, Chu Qianqian went straight to Kunhuang Entertainment.
When she met Lin Jingze at the company, Chu Qianqian was surprised to find him looking incredibly relaxed, as if he had escaped from a burden rather than just parted ways with a popular group.
Noticing Chu Qianqian’s confusion, Lin Jingze, in a good mood, didn’t mind explaining, “As an agent of my level, I handle up to five groups and agents.”
“Five?” Chu Qianqian couldn’t believe it. She found taking care of just ONE to be exhausting, yet Lin Jingze managed to handle five?
As if reading her mind, Lin Jingze shook his head and explained, “Unlike the way you take care of Qingyi and Chu Ziyu, I follow a more hands-off approach. I guide in terms of networking and resources, while the daily minor tasks are completed by the assistants.”
“For example, the assistant position you applied for when you first joined the company is that kind of work.”
Chu Qianqian understood this part but her doubts remained. According to this approach, Lin-Ge’s tasks shouldn’t be too demanding.
Chu Qianqian’s ability to conceal her emotions was mediocre, and for someone as experienced as Lin Jingze, it wasn’t hard to discern what she was thinking. Shaking his head, Lin Jingze smiled wryly, “The problem is not every assistant is as capable as you. Most assistants have average abilities, often making mistakes that I’m left to fix.”
“Due to insufficient ability and a poor mindset… for these reasons, assistants are often replaced. Every time a new assistant is brought in, the guidance I gave the previous one is wasted, so this way of mentoring is much more exhausting than one-on-one.”
“But in this role, we must fulfill our responsibilities. No matter how tiring the tasks assigned by the Boss are, they must be completed.” After saying this and noticing Chu Qianqian’s serious expression, Lin Jingze realized he might have been too harsh. Pushing up his glasses, he joked, “Of course, the work is indeed tiring, but the salary is quite enticing.”
Lin Jingze had a talent for lightening the mood. Within a few words, Chu Qianqian’s previously heavy mood had become much lighter. “Now that the company has handed ONE over to me, will they assign you a new group or artist?”
“Probably not for now,” Lin Jingze replied, having thought about this himself. “The company’s current focus is on developing ONE, and most resources are being directed towards Qingyi and Ziyu. Until they become truly popular, the company isn’t likely to train new artists that would compete with them for the spotlight.”
Glancing at the time, Lin Jingze realized they had been talking for half an hour. Externally unchanged, he internally acknowledged a newfound appreciation for Chu Qianqian’s naturally easygoing demeanor.
Character is an indescribable thing; it can’t be seen or touched, but it certainly exists. In Chu Qianqian’s case, although she herself might not realize it, her easygoing nature always puts others at ease during interactions, lowering their guard and making conversations more relaxed.
People with such a temperament often find unexpected advantages when dealing with others in their work. A slight smile formed on Lin Jingze’s lips as he looked at Chu Qianqian, feeling like he had discovered a promising talent with potential.
“Alright, time’s about up. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll leave first. Once you have the contracts and documents, you can go.” With that, Lin Jingze extended his hand, no longer treating her as a junior but as a colleague, “From now on, ONE is in your hands. Although those two kids have their quirks, I believe you’ll take good care of them.”
“Don’t worry, Lin-Ge, I definitely won’t let you down.”
Leaving the company, Chu Qianqian touched the wallet in her bag and remembered the business card tucked inside its pocket. Thinking about the busy months ahead, she sighed, flagged down a taxi, and gave the driver the destination: “Wuhu District, Mr. Xin’s home.”
After exiting the elevator, Chu Qianqian followed the address Ellie had given her and stopped in front of a door. She rang the doorbell and stood by the door, touching the business card in her pocket, suddenly feeling a bit disheartened and tempted to back out.
But before she could decide, the door opened.
The woman inside was tall, probably around 5’9″. She had short hair cropped to her ears, dyed in the trendy ash gray favored by young people, and her cat-like eyes gave her a strong, commanding presence.
Since it was her home, she dressed casually in a simple white tank top and black shorts, which highlighted her great figure. Looking down, one could see a black vine tattoo on her right leg, climbing from the ankle up and disappearing into her shorts.
Her light outfit meant that the moment she opened the door, her bare skin was instantly hit by the chill from outside. Visible goosebumps appeared on her skin, and she stomped her foot, her husky voice sounded a bit exasperated, “Damn, it’s cold. Hurry up and come in!”
Once inside, hearing the “click” of the auto-lock, Chu Qianqian felt the chill on her face dissipate considerably, exhaling the cold air before speaking, “Well, you dressed so lightly, didn’t you notice the weather?”
“It’s cold outside, but it’s warm inside my place,” Ellie said, crouching down to rummage for slippers in the shoe cabinet. “Strange, I thought I left them here…”
Ellie’s good memory apparently did not extend to such everyday matters. It wasn’t until the warmth from inside had eased the chill in Chu Qianqian’s body that Ellie finally found the guest slippers.
This apartment was purchased by Ellie herself after she started working, and it was Chu Qianqian’s first visit.
Spanning about 70 to 80 square meters, it seemed quite spacious for a single woman living alone. After pouring a cup of hot cocoa for Chu Qianqian, Ellie looked a bit proud, “So, what do you think of my apartment?”
